The Reliable Source (Susan Sarandon's mom pissed about "F 9/11")
Washington Post ^ | 7.14.04 | Richard Leiby

• At least one Northern Virginia moviegoer walked out in a huff after watching just a half-hour of "Fahrenheit," and she wants our readers to know about it. Loyal Republican Lenora Tomalin, 81, called us to report that she left her relatives in their seats at the Regal theater in Sterling and headed for the lobby during the scene when Moore, in a voiceover, suggests thoughts President Bush might have had in a Florida classroom the morning of Sept. 11. "I was enraged . . . I thought it was very sophomoric," she says. "There was laughter and I would just cringe." Tomalin, who happens to be the mother of activist/actress Susan Sarandon, got a refund and promptly gave it to a charity supported by Regal. To cool down, she paced for a while, then waited patiently on a chair provided by the manager.

Didn't Tim Robbins threaten to kill anyone who reported on his mother in law?

I walked out at the letter from the soldier who was about to be killed in the helicopter accident, saying how much he hated Bush. I'd sat through way too much of Moore's garbage by that point, anyway; perhaps too much so to ask for a refund.

Susie is liberal because her mother isn't. I have a friend like that. Her parents are conservative and she is still being contrary at her age.

The movie convinced one of Im'ass' side kicks to vote for kerry as soon as yesterday. Do these people not think with an open mind? How do they function in an ever changing world?

And the liberals say they are not represented on radio. What the hell is Imus? And don't tell me an independent

And does it appear that the Democrats are trying to distance themselves from their loyal supporters out in Hollywood? C'mon Tom Daschle, you really did give ol' Micahel Moore a hug, didn't you?.....

Tom must be up for reelection this year.

Cale ..here's the truth about the Kennedy Assasination... A man named Lee Harvey Oswald took a gun and killed him. Case Closed. Now go back to DU and tell all your kooky friends that yes, one lone man can change the course of history.

"Michael Moore has a right to his opinions as much as anyone does to walk out and not watch it"

Did Michael Moore clearly state that many things in the movie are his "opinion?"

Street people telling passersby that their thoughts are being directed by cosmic rays have a right to their opinion, and start discussions as well...on topics like "Boy, what drugs did he overdose on?" and "Mama, look at the funny man over there!" and "Uh-huh...tell ya what, I'm just going to cross the street over here, mmkay?"

What's going on in Iraq isn't much better than when Saddam was in power? Are you f**king nuts? Why not ask the Kuwaiti civilians he hung from lamp posts. Why not ask my Iranian friend who had to come to the states for treatment after Saddam mustard gassed him? Did you really buy into Mike Moore's fantasy that Iraq was some kind of utopia before we invaded? Are you an idiot? Insane? Or just ignorant?

Look you human lug nut, I was in Iraq before and after the invasion. I saw the villages Saddam gassed in Kurdistan. You have not a clue of what you speak. Your conspiracy theories are killing people in the Sudan and elsewhere. Why didn't Mikey make a movie about that? Why didn't he make a movie trying to affect peaceful regime change while Saddam was in power?

Go try to rewrite history somewhere else.

Yup watching Michael Moore films will help the truth come out- just like the Blair Witch film helped "out" those crazy psycopaths in the Maryland woods.

Scurry back under the highway overpass, troll. I hear a tornado is on the way.

When Moore does a documentary on how LBJ arranged Kennedy's assassination be sure to let us know. There is more factual support and logic behind that assertion than anything presented in his latest pathetic pack of lies.

Oh, and don't forget to visit our fishbowl and light socket display before you leave. Zot!!!!

My mother is like that as well.

And look how I turned out. The extended relatives think that's hilarious.

I know exactly what you mean. My neighbors next door are both husband & wife schoolteachers. They made a remark one time that we don't(meaning the public in general) don't pay enough property tax (that is where they get their salaries in Ohio) and are as liberal as hell. Anyway, their son started his own computer firm and hates taxes of all types and is very conservative. Payback!!

One possible translation is, "I am sure that Michael Moore,(or whomevers' shoes that you want to p!ss on,) is a fine and honest gentleman, it's just that I have never seen any evidence of it."

Then again, maybe we should ask Mrs. Tomalin.
