You are talking too much freedom. Big Media likes having viewers subsidize their offerings. How many people would get Viacom's new homosexual/bisexual/transgendered network if they could opt out?
Heck, how many would still get CNN or MSNBC?
110 channels and you still only watch about 6-15 of them.

I watched Dave's show when I had cable. I liked his stand up comedy that he began the show with (and almost watched him when he came to town). I watched for awhile even when they were in reruns to see the Houston episode (I later caught it on tv elsewhere).
I don't care to see my faith insulted by porn stars and the host, however.
Mohammed had sex with a pre-teenager but no comedians ever seem to find a joke in that.
