Need help with Ruby Ridge research project
Self

Posted on 07/17/2004 8:47:09 AM PDT by Critter

I need freeper help with a little research project I'm doing on the outcome of Idaho's attempt to prosecute Lon Horiuchi for the murder of Vicky Weaver.

If my memory serves me well (sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't) the Idaho prosecutor won a 9th circuit appeal and was set to go ahead with prosecuting Horiuchi.

Then, as I remember it, the prosecutor him/her self was indicted on some federal corruption charge. I seem to remember this prosecutor resigning, and his/her successor decides not to go ahead with prosecution.

The help I need:

1)Anyone know the original prosecutor's name?
2) Anyone know the new prosecutor's name?
3)Anyone know the outcome of the indictment against the prosecutor?
4)I need links to relevent news articles pertaining to the above questions.

I have tried using generic searches on google, but I get results mostly pertaining to the original Ruby Ridge incident. I'm going to keep searching, but if anyone can help, I'd sure appreciate it.

Regards,

Jim

Thanks! That helps a lot!

It seems that the dismissal of charges against Horiuchi almost immediately follows the allegations of forgery and some other charge against Benton. Too coincidental to me.

I'd like to find the disposition of the case against Benton. Still looking.

OK, I found out why I am having so much trouble... WorldNet Daily misspelled his name in a key article. It is Benson not Benton... the trail is getting warmer. :)

An interesting opinion on this case... from the Idaho Observer.

Thanks! I'll have to do some e-mailing I think, but hopefully some of these folks have some good info.

I still have found nothing solid on the disposition of the charges against Benson. it seems they just disappeared. Hmmmmmm

I have to run out to do a show this weekend,m but I'll be back on this Sunday night.

Stay well,

Jim

Before I leave, I decided to try to call the Idaho Observer directly, and I did get through and found out that it all happened just as I had suspected... the case against Benson was never pursued and he left office eventually and moved to Montana, possibly.

Now I'm gone for the rest of the weekend. I can't wait to get back and work up my little story for the recently resurrected Voice News of northwest Connecticut.

I have a copy of The Federal Siege At Ruby Ridge.
Written by Randy and Sara Weaver (His daughter)

This whole sorry tale is more responsible then any other as to why I feel the F.B.I. ,A.T.F. as well as other U.S. govt
groups are completely out of control.

This same group that killed Weavers son, dog, wife and friend were again killing at Waco.
Throw in the Boston fiasco where the F.B.I. let an innocent go to jail for murder to cover for one of its operatives and I say how can you trust or believe in these groups?

Horiuchi should have gone to jail for life or hung for murder. His superiors should have done likewise but the govt. covered for them.

I've actually read that report. All 500 pages. I ordered it on floppies from Federal News Service (or something like that). I think it also used to be in the Library on the Firearms Forum on Compuserve.

It's an amazing story, and destroyed any respect I ever had for the FBI.

Having problems understanding why they defined it as a hostage/barricade operation.

Because it makes it so much easier to shoot them dead when you see them. And that, apparently, is what the FBI HRT is for.

Well, usually I try to put myself in the other person's shoes to understand why they do things. Sad to say, it's difficult to do that in this case, as the shoes have no soul*.

* -- Not mis-spelled. No heart, either. Just another bunch of corporate robots with no prime imperative. Perhaps things are different these days. No Waco's lately, I don't think.
