I don't know the moderators, I was making an ill-educated hypothesis. Ive got "FR Home", "FR Network", Radio FR", "CNS News" and "Winter Soldier" across the top of the screen. There is nothing on the Free Republic opening page about this that I could find.

We don't do any programming, looks like John is working behind the scenes on something.
The page loads faster without the banner and doesn't use as much bandwidth and it's more flexible if I decide to add or modifiy a link, etc. The current links are the same ones that were on the banner.

Yeah. The Moderator Rant is a pretty reliable ploy. Problem is, in order to use it properly you have to have just posted some moonbat-crazy screed on the Bilderburgers planting microchips in Cheney's butt and then when it gets the hook you come on with a self-righteous new thread bleating about censorship.
