Good question, but wither they're being real quiet or the Press isn't reporting the all the help they're giving in tracking down or pulling support from the bad guys. All I keep hearing is "Terrorism is bad but...." and even that isn't very forceful.
How do we deal with that many enemies?
Get the radicals before they get us and keep a close eye on the others. Sorry, but I haven't seen anything to make me trust someone who practices Islam.
Fighting the Jihadi enemy would mean overturning the 20th century political and economic foundations to their roots. It would mean disrupting the Big Tent of political correctness; putting a prosperity heavily dependent on oil supplies at risk; and replacing an entire paradigm of international relations. For that reason the act of naming Wahabi Islam as the principal enemy will [be] evaded until it is absolutely unavoidable; until after a mushroom or biological cloud puts a period after the debate. (emphasis supplied)
And well it should be that the crashing of the entire world system which would be precipitated by such a declaration "should be evaded until it is absolutely unavoidable."
The Author also lays out the upside:
And the reason this is so important, he argues, is that it allows Homeland Security to use the appropriate kind of filter in rooting out the enemy.
Lets see, we should turn the world upside down, threaten economic catastrophe attendant upon the interruption of the flow of oil, and as Cannoneer points out, set 1.4 Billion Muslims against us so that a rent a cop at the airport can hassle boarding passenger just because he looks swarthy?
Hello?
What we should be doing is just the opposite, we should be setting 1.4 billion Muslims against the terrorists because the only way we are going to win this war is get the world of Islam to recognize that it must kill the terrorists to save itself.
When Bush first articulated a war against "terrorism," I read the articles that pointed out that this is historically the first war against a "tactic" and I thought Bush's locution mealymouthed even for someone as vocally challenged as he is. Now I accept that Bush has it right. We must not buck up our courage as with a shot of whiskey by flinging names about which cost us the very ally indispensable to the winning of this war and gains us nothing but a flash of self satisfaction.
A word of warning, without any accusation: The indispensable ally in this war is not Israel. It is not the UK. and it is is not Europe. It is Islam. Beware those who, to assure the fealty of the USA to Israel for the protection of the latter, would exploit our indignation and cause us to fling hateful but ultimately unnecessary accusations at a class of religionists who, however alien, are ultimately our indispensable partner in this war for our survival.
When criticized for his statements supporting a grotesque communist dictatorship after Hitler's invasion of the Soviet Union, Churchill replied, "If Hitler had invaded Hell I would at least make a friendly reference to the Devil in the House of Commons." Churchill's identification of the real enemy never went out of focus. His accumulation of a world alliance which he hurled against that enemy makes him the greatest man of his century. As odious as the Soviet Union was, he made it an ally, albeit aided by Hitler's aggression, which made victory possible.
The analogy of the vast resources in people, geography and materiel with which the Russians waged war against the Nazis is too pat to go unobserved in a war in which we need 1.4 billion allies, not 1.4 billion suicidal murderers.
How do we do that?
Terminate them with extreme prejudice? Anywhere on Earth? A global Phoenix Program?
If only 1% of 1.2 billion are radicals, that's still 12 million wet jobs.
I don't think we can do that.
Where Wahhabism crosses the line is that the religious and political doctrine are inseperable. The political ideals are repugnant to our Constitution, and they should not be immune from government actions simply because they assert protection under the First Amendment. We do not give First Amendment protection to human sacrifice as a religious belief. Why should we be compelled to allow political beliefs that are declared enemies of our Constitution simply because they are also religious beliefs?
Islam is not a country or a continent. It is a religion specifically created for those who rejected Judaism and Christianity 1400 years ago.

THE MERCIFUL
Hi,
Well, of course the Arabs are our brothers in so far as we are an Arabic speaking people. And of course we dont wish them harm. And how many sacrifices have the Iraqis made for their sake? So, we wish them well, generally speaking. However, how we wish they could be less stupid, less cruel and more understanding. Also it would be nice if they could become less selfish, less hypocritical, less addicted to lying, treachery and jealousy. That would be nice. And perhaps they could show a little more concern about the murder of our people, the destruction of our livelihood, the sabotage of our national assets and infrastructure. It would be even nicer if they could actually stop perpetrating these rather unfriendly acts.
Also, somewhat it seems to us that cutting the heads of hostages is not a particularly good way of illustrating the Arab and Islamic nobility of spirit; especially if it is done in the name of Allah. I mean we are puzzled, because we thought that Allah was The Merciful; the Compassionate. But hard as we try to understand our brothers, we dont seem to be able to comprehend the merciful nature of their actions. Perhaps we are not sufficiently well trained philosophically and too ignorant to appreciate the finer points of theology and the relationship between beheadings and various forms of murder to monotheism and Jihad in the name of The Merciful, the Compassionate.
Also we thought that our religion preached tolerance and kindness towards others, but it seems that our lamentable ignorance of theology led us to these erroneous misconceptions. But then this is your fault, venerable Sheikhs. You have not made sufficient effort to enlighten and train us in the true precepts and ways of piety. We have yet to appreciate that the true way of the Lord calls for drenching the earth with human blood. We seem to remember that the Gods of paganism craved for human sacrifice; The Gods are thirsty Les Dieux Ont Soif . Do we have sneaking suspicions that these ancient creeds have crept back into your system of belief?
Oh, yes; Oh brothers and venerable Sheiks with the correct size of beards, we are in dire need of explanation from you to save us from our utter disbelief and bewilderment concerning your ways. We are in state of shock that threatens the very foundation of our own faith.
Salaam

WE WILL NEVER FORGET
September 11th, 2001
We remember and we pray for our fellow Americans lost on 9.11.2001
We will never forget the impact 9.11 had on our country and the impact it had on us as both Americans and Arab Americans. As Americans we grieved for the loss of life caused to our fellow Americans. We grieved as Arab Americans because as Arab Americans we found ourselves in receipt of backlash and discrimination at the hand of our fellow Americans due to the actions caused by Muslim extremists.
There were over 1,300 cases of backlash and discrimination and eight deaths (homicides) caused directly after 9.11.
We in the military found that our Patriotism and Service to our country was put into question by our fellow Americans. Doubt that still continues today.
We rallied together to use our uniform and our contributions in the military to prove to America that Arab Americans were not tied or associated to the perpetrators of 9.11. We used our uniform as a teaching tool to help educate our fellow Americans about the difference.
We found that there were over 3,500 Arab Americans serving in the military. We also found that Arab Americans have been serving this great country since WWI. We have fought in every climb and place to protect the freedom of America. Hundreds of Arab and Muslim Americans, including myself, are currently deployed overseas contributing with the GWOT (Global War on Terrorism). We are committed to eradicating and ending terrorism once and for all.
We serve in memory of our fellow Americans lost on 9.11.2001

bump and save
"It is easy to fly into a passion--anybody can do that--but to be angry with the right person and at the right time and with the right object and in the right way--that is not easy, and it is not everyone who can do it."

How much faith can we have in such allies?
The leadership, yes. Don't know how we can do it, that's above my pay grade.
Follow the money. The radical madrases schools would fold tomorrow, and the radical imams get jobs driving taxis, if wealthy Muslims stopped tossing money at them.
A few targeted assassinations of the biggest bankrollers (without regard to their prominence) would shut down the radical rhetoric in a week.
Yes, but the title is very misleading.
I first thought the topic might be about Clint Eastwood movies.
I looked at several of the profiles and could not tell which Arab-American patriots were Muslims and which were Christians.
And that's a good thing.
An interest fact I ran across a while ago. The family Saud comes from the western side Saudi Arabia and (as we all know) are Wahhabi/Salafi. All that wonderful wonderful oil is on the EASTEREN side, and just who (you ask) lives there? Why Shi`ah, who are...less than thrilled at living under the Wahhabis.
So we whack the moneymen. What about the moneymen who own so much American debt and property and business partnerships that us whacking them wrecks our economy?
