Thanks for the info. I skimmed right over 13. LOL
My wife was PCA for some time till even that congregation's leadership went on a "diversity guilt trip" and drove her off with that and more pc drivel but usually PCA churches are more conservative than PCUSA congregations.
I believe the schism occured about 30 years ago over cultural issues and membership in the NCC if I'm not mistaken and was most common in the South.
I lived outside the US mostly for 18 years of my adult life and was not terribly pious anyhow but when I returned to the South with family looking for bedrock churches of my youth, I was shocked to find how apostate many Prod congregations had grown.
Homosexual clergy, feminization, ambivalence about abortion....really simply the entire DNC talking points on culture has been absorbed by many "be nice/good deeds only" Christians....sad.
I find the Catholic Church is mostly not Israel-hating. And I hear the evangelical churches are very pro-Israel, though I'm not sure what exactly constitutes an evangelical church.
You'd be hard pressed to find any Southern Evangelical leaning church that is not as pro-Israel as can be.
I mean, they feel a blood loyalty to the Jews in the Holyland.
which is of course deliciously ironic considering they are mortal enemies with secular and typically liberal Jews here..lol
The "fags in the pulpit" gang is shooting blamks, again.
Pray for guidance as to which church you should attend, that they teach the Bible without subtracting from or adding to their own doctrine, and "test the spirits" as we are admonished to do.
Best regards
Thanks all. I will look into them.
I know what you mean. It's sometimes difficult to find the right fit in a church these days.
Evangelical means simply Prod denominations that are keen on prosyletizing......Southern Baptists, Pentocostal, Church of Christ, and the more conservative Methodists and Presbyterians sects.
Evangelicals of these denominations tend to be more Conservative on culture because they are Biblical literalists as a rule.
Their support for Israel is truly zealous. Some is based on scripture. Some on commonality. Some on simply knowing when the right course is so blatantly obvious.
Many are like me whereby my support for Israel is due to decency formed by observing with perhaps a moral frame of reference.
All this crap that we like Israel so we hope the Jews can die in some flaming apocalypse to fulfill our destiny is pure Abe Foxman style fantasy.
Aside from missionary work in the third world, I would venture that Israel's preservation is the next biggest of the Evangelical's "foreign policy"
*btw, I'm not very pious but I was raised right and have a good memory
Me too! Same time same issues.
It was a Lutheran church-based school that started the drive for support letters/cards for the troops, using the website http://www.amillionthanks.org
which is of course deliciously ironic considering they are mortal enemies with secular and typically liberal Jews here..lol
Isn't that the truth? I'd love to send Abe Foxman and the whole ADL crowd to Israel for a few weeks so they might - just might - get a clue as to who their real enemies are. Living with the Muslim PLO, Muslim Hamas, Muslim Hezbollah, etc. next door might - probably not - but might by a miracle - convince them that American Christians aren't "the problem, stupid!, it's the Muslims!"
Yes, Southern Baptist are usually quite reliable. If not, the SBC will release them from membership. That happened here in Nashville at Glendale Baptist when they hired a lesbian preacher and still clung to the SBC mantle.
Church of Christ (Southern Variety) are also stalwarts but the way they eschew music is foreign to me.
Today many Pentacost and AOG churches are simply referred to as Charasmatics are they not?
I am not Pentocostal and will probably die with my letter still at Calvary Baptist, Jackson Miss but I go for the preacher. I remember my dad started doing the same thing around 50 himself so I guess I'm carrying on a "family tradition".
It is such a joy isn't it to hear uplifting words from a good preacher on cultural issues. My wife and mother who both usually attend with me always pinch me or nod my way when they know the preacher is right on my bandwidth about something whether infanticide or like the other day when he gave the Father's Day peptalk.
The key to a great church:
Look around. If you see as many men as women, you are in the right place. It's truly a Father's Church....vibrant and filled with intact families looking for spiritual guidance and nourishment.
A man's church...call me sexist and lord knows my wife has better discipline in this arena but if the man of the family is lost then her efforts are very compromised.
Many secular liberal Jews here are very uncomfortable replacing the old bogeyman by the name of the Conservative American Christian with the very real and willing Islamist Terrorist.
Many are simply still not ready to accept that obvious truth.
I just got the joke.
C'est tres ho-ho-ho. Vous etes un homme drole et bel.
Who cares? I'm a Pres, not Arab, and not Jew. religion has no place in the politcs of two nations that are not of that religion.
It is the first Christian denomination
Is it really a Christian denomination or only says that it is?
So let this specific group divest themselves from Israel. They can take their profits from those good companies which they invested in and turn around and give it all to Arafart owned and run sham companies and then lose all their investments. It will serve them right!
Knowing their love for the islamfacists, they will blame the Jews for all their losses when they have to report to their congregations. What a bunch of short sighted losers.
