Most American civilians have no idea what GI's serving in a combat zone have done, much less what the have seen and smelled.
They don't know the vivid images that go through the mind of someone who witnessed it, replaying again and again as if it just happened 5 minutes ago, when the actual event was 35 years ago.
They don't know that a certain scent or a certain sound, can trigger a visceral reaction as if they were still under fire a long time ago far away from home.
They don't realize that these things stay with you for a lifetime, that they are part of your thoughts whether you want them there or not.
Thank you for serving our country. Thanks to all the men and women who endure the ugliness of war so we can live in peace.
Redrock, you are God's messenger.
Were it not for you, and men like you, we would never know how it really was.
God bless you, brother, for what you did.
Thank you for your service.
I really believe that the survival of this nation as we know it is riding on this election.
