after the 2000 election, most americans felt it was Gore who was trying to steal it. that would have been the perfect entry point for investigations on voter fraud, et al. But Rove's "new tone" would not permit that, so now we have this. We have ceded the issue of who was trying to steal the 2000 election.

But it is the campaign of Mr. Kerry that appears to be doing the most to apply lessons from the Florida recount and that is adopting the more fiercely partisan posture in the early going.
