LOL! I guess I did set myself up for that. Hehe....
Yea but hopefully it will give you a good laugh for the day!
Quick question.
Is the Bush 3:16 a reference to John 3:16 For God so loved....
Sorry I just did not get the 3:16 reference.
Definately!! :)
Well, I was trying to explain to my daughter that while certain things didn't need to be tested on animals and it is ok for her to look at that, she needed to understand the other side of that coin. You should know you are talking to a farmer here, so I also have a duty to my daughter to teach her about life on the farm and how things work. Like the fact that the steer in the barn will be in the freezer soon. Tis life!
I'll be very glad to hear your thoughts when I run into you here on FR. :)
.
I harvest a "lot" of wild critters.Just hate to see anything in pain and always have,so when I kill,it's a clean kill.
Good time for a change of tag line. :o)
I only buy medications if its absolutely necessary. Otherwise, I try not to rely on Western medicine. I use mostly Natural medications, Homeopathy and other Alternative medicines. If its absolutely, possitively unavoidable, then of course my family and I will use Antibiotics, but only as a last resort. If its so dangerous that it needs to be tested on animals first, then maybe we shouldnt be researching these sortof things... Anyone ever thought of that?
Huh?
Do you know what a tagline is?
For me, I liked the quote (and the graphic) because there is a wrestler who has a similar moniker...he is from Texas, he doesn't take crap from anyone, and he kicks some ass whenever he needs to.
That seems to describe the president so I grabbed the graphic. The graphic actually comes from someone selling t-shirts. Here's a link to the website >>> Bush 3:16.
I know what my tagline is, but why would I change it?
That's why I addressed my post to myself, first.
Once duly convicted, these terrorists should be sentenced to serve their terms in research labs . . . as test animals.
Of course, a lot of "natural" and "alternative" medicines are made from plants which are in danger of extinction and/or taken from the wild with no care whatsoever for the damage done the ecosystems from which they're taken.
Im sorry but can you back that up with actual evidence or facts? Exactly what plants are going extinct due to natural medicine? If you disagree with me, thats fine, you have that right, but dont pull BS out of your ass just for the sake of arguing. Name ONE plant.... if you can. Name ONE ecosystem if you can.
Some herbs are more effective if they are wildcrafted, such as rooibos. Many are now grown on big organic farms, the same way salmon are being farmed. The only instance I've read about herbs going extinct is goldenseal, but they grow it like they grow aloes now.
Prunus africana -- Africa (see http://www.futureharvest.org/news/prunusrelease.shtml )
Nothatodytes foetida -- India and Sri Lanka
Saussurea lappa -- India
Fritillaria cirrhosa -- China

Part of the problem with the promotion of "natural" medicine as being better than other types, is that it cultivates a market preference for wild-grown products (plants and animals). And in fact, wild-grown products sometimes do have properties that farm-grown alternatives don't. One example I'm familiar with is the fatty acid DHA. The only natural food source of it for humans is fish, but the fish are getting it from algae, so farm-grown fish don't contain it.
From an environmental and anti-cruelty standpoint, "unnatural" medicines and supplements are often better -- such as the algae-derived supplement form of DHA. There are at least as many animals suffering in the gathering and production of "traditional medicines", as are suffering in research for synthesized pharmaceuticals. And even though there is little Western demand for things like rhino horn and bear gall, the huge Western demand for the plant medicines which are associated with the same traditional medicine systems as the animal "medicines", legitimizes the entire systems in the minds of the uneducated people, who are still the main consumers of these things.
BTW, for ethical reasons, I've been a lacto-ovo vegetarian for 29 years, and don't wear leather or fur.
