Linda Ronstadt was booed and kicked out of a Las Vegas casino for praising Michael Moore and his film Fahrenheit 9/11 on stage.
Ronstadt called Moore a "great American patriot" and "someone who is spreading the truth" during a performance at the Aladdin.
Some among the crowd of 4,500 stormed out, tore down concert posters and tossed cocktails into the air, reports the BBC.
Aladdin president Bill Timmins said Ronstadt was escorted off the property and was not even allowed to return to her hotel suite.
Ronstadt "spoiled a wonderful evening for our guests and we had to do something about it", Mr Timmins said.
And he said she would never sing at the Aladdin again: "As long as I'm here, she's not going to play."
Moore said of Timmons: "For you to throw Linda Ronstadt off the premises because she dared to say a few words in support of me and my film is simply stupid and un-American.
"Invite her back and I'll join her in singing America the Beautiful on your stage. Then I will show Fahrenheit 9/11 free of charge to all your guests and anyone else in Las Vegas who wants to see it."
"Invite her back and I'll join her in singing America the Beautiful on your stage. Then I will show Fahrenheit 9/11 free of charge to all your guests and anyone else in Las Vegas who wants to see it."
Yeah, that should bring them in my the thousands.
Was Linda stuffing papers down Sandy Berger's pants, or what?
"I've been dedicating a song to him I think he's a great patriot and it splits the audience down the middle, and they duke it out," she said.
"This is an election year, and I think we're in desperate trouble and it's time for people to speak up and not pipe down.
"It's a real conflict for me when I go to a concert and find out somebody in the audience is a Republican or fundamental Christian. It can cloud my enjoyment. I'd rather not know."
-San Diego Union Tribune, July 15
Actually, Stay-Puft, it was absolutely American... free enterprise... private property... any of this ring a bell?
Moore is a propagandist and a fool.
A performer, particularly in such a venue, is a SERVER. Is paid by the venue to serve the venue's guests.
If a waitress p!ssed off 1/10th of the customers coming into the hotel restaurant, you can bet she'd be fired and escorted off the premises.
I imagine that Moore has fired a few employees in his life.
I guess people are getting fed up with some of these Bush bashing know it alls.
A waste of perfectly good liquor.
He forgot to add.
And believe you me, I know stupid and un-American when I see it in the mirror.
I was at the Mercy Me concert in VA Beach Sunday night - she'd have been really uncomfortable there.
When asked to comment, Ronstadt said, "Mooooooooooo, they still like me at Mooooooooove on.org, even if I am as fat as Michael Moooooooore. Mooooooooooooo." The singer then dove into a nearby trash dumpster for a late night snack.
Ronstadt has been donating big cash to liberals since '79.
Where's the surprise?
The next time Berger wants to steal documents, he should take Ronstadt. She could eat them for him. Besides, she would love to be with anyone named Berger.
More creative story telling from the Big Fat White Guy. I was under the impression from yesterday's story that she did it on purpose because she didn't want to play there.
Imagine they didn't intend to pay for these!
Oops, sorry forgot to add STUPID in there too.
I saw an interview with Matt Damon over the weekend and he said he stayed out of politics...?
Ronstadt was given the boot because she alienated a huge part of the audience. Why should the hotel throw away money on someone who is chasing off ticket holders???
For once, I am in total agreement with that despicable, harem "Mu'awiyah!" Allahu Akbar, how times have changed! That jahilliyah b**ch got it served up on a hot plate. Good for her! I swear, if that mukruh dog tries to release another cover of "Hot Child In The City", the streets of Karbala will run red with the blood of contemned yazidi bastards!
BEWARE THE BLACK TURBAN YAZID!
-good times, G.J.P. (Jr.)
There's a beautiful irony there.
I'm sure Moore is every bit the singer that Ronstadt is a thinker.
Dan
Notice how, whenever it's raining publicity, Michael Moore is instantly on the spot with his umbrella upside down?
Is this the same dope who tried to strong-arm the Harvard administration into giving an exbortant rase to their institution's janitorial staff?
Color me confused.
Moore is no fool. He's managed to thump-tub a marginal film that's been factually torn apart into a $100,000,000 moneymaker. He's keeping it in the news with a brilliant guerrilla marketing campaign. He's gotten three stories on the major press wires THIS WEEK about a movie that's already been out a month.
1. Theater owner in Pennsylvania offering to show it free to registered Republicans
2. Free screening in Crawford, TX
3. Linda Ronstadt flap with offer to show free in Vegas.
Each of these stories cost him nothing out of pocket, and are worth more than a half million dollars in paid advertisements. While he has a willing media, so did Al Franken. I detest Moore's politics, but in terms of movie marketing, he's very smart.
One of our best weapons is that the left 'misunderestimates' Bush because they think the fact that they don't like him means he's stupid. Don't make the same mistake with Moore.
** coffee on keyboard **
Don't know anything about that. When was this?
Excellent link!

Haha, Linda Rondstat sucks. She must be desperate to get gigs these days, and when she gets one, she has to blab her airheaded political opinion and get booted. Serves her right. laff
Surely you jest. Moore is so far down on the intelligience scale that he's nearly fallen off. When you twist the facts like he does, it shows how far to the left his thinking is. One sided. Brainless.
If you judge whether he's a fool by how much money he makes, then he is no fool. But that's not the only standard.
I know that it was pretty big news for most of last year, but you'd probably have to ask someone who lives closer to the scene, or who has some expertise in labor relations, what exactly occurred to prompt this.
Both Damon and Affleck are alums of Harvard, so they were pretty heavily involved with this issue-on the side of the striking workers-when it blew up.
Did these two actually graduate from Harvard? That's a shocker.
Ananova & every other lib rag/report lovess playing word/mind games with reality and it's now long beyond repair.
Ronstadt wasn't kicked out for praising Moore or F911.
She was kicked out and sent packing for causing a mini riot by deciding to play politics on a stage she was hired to simply sing and look fat on.
Hey, Fat Boy. You can't go around questioning people's patriotism.
Ronstadt has never been known for her intelligence or education --- why does she think anyone would care what she thinks? She's earning big money for her voice only --- she'd be wise to keep her silly political views to herself -- but she's never been known for wisdom either. Wealthy celebrities often become liberals because it somehow soothes their consciences about having all that big wealth that they didn't exactly have to work hard to get.
The Alladin Hotel must be having hard times if they can only afford to hire this old has-been for their main act. Linda Ronstadt has not been in the top ranks of singers since the Carter Administration.
Though, to be fair, Ben probably used most of his undergraduate tuition to help defray the costs of his crippling gambling addiction.
Ben Aflleck:
Hit me with a deuce. LET IT RIDE DEALER!
Atlantic City Black Jack dealer:
The gentleman has sixteen.
Ben Affleck:
Hit me!
Dealer:
The gentlemen has nineteen.
Affleck:
Hit me.
Dealer:
You sure about that?
Affleck:
I SAID, "HIT ME!"
Dealer:
Alright. The gentleman has twenty-one.
Affleck:
Hit me.
I feel like flying out to Vegas and staying at the Alladin to support them.
It looks like Microsoft (Ballmer), Oracle, and Dell stand behind Bush.
My advice:
Spit through your nose, that always works for me.
This Vegas story probably made the F9/11 movie another 10 to 20 million dollars in ticket sales based on Moore's use of the media to market it.
It looks like she just found out that all Americans dont think the way her friends among the Hollywood Elite think.
I know it works with milk, but I'm dealing in cola these days . . . don't the bubbles hurt?
BTTT
The actual story without the Moore spin which seems we have all fallen for - is that she started to bad mouth the Casino first and then the fans because she was billed as a greatest hits show and that pissed the diva off so she was trying to break her contract and get fired. The Casino can not have her being disruptive but can't fire unless a reason presents itself like her being political. This version sells no movie tickets and gets no play on talk radio - oh well.
Hey, she's playing at the Universal Amphitheatre in L.A. tonight. Protest anyone?
Love it!
