US Customs and US Commerce agents, assisted by Kentucky State police, raided two Lexington locations of Galls Incorporated Wednesday morning.
Details are sketchy so far, but sources tell LEX 18 News that over 30 agents are involved in the investigations, which are taking place at two Galls locations - offices on Palumbo Drive and the factory/showroom on Russell Cave Road. Sources tell LEX 18 that employees at the Russell Cave Road location were told to leave the premises while leaving work areas as-is, and that employees at the Palumbo Road location have all been moved to a single room.
According to Galls' website, the company is "an ARAMARK company, (which is) America's largest supplier by mail of uniforms and equipment to public safety professionals. We cater to the special needs of people involved in public safety, fire fighting, correctional and emergency medical services."
The website also says that Galls supplies military equipment such as body armor, field gear and vehicle equipment.
Looks like Mark Morford will have to cancel his Cops N' Robbers party.

I'm a volunteer firefighter and we gets lots of our gear from Galls. I hope this doesn't mean I've been supporting terrorists!
I've been to the main showroom, it is impressive. Wow, this story will be of interest for the next few days, thats for sure.
Probably not. I just wonder if it was the night vision gear or the police stuff. My sis used to work there and they have had problems before. They were selling NYPD uniforms to almost anyone that wanted one.

Jeeez. I am from Lexington and my family knew the Gall family that started this business. I hope this is not serious.
The guy who built Galls is from Lexington, KY - an incredibly rich guy with a house like an English Manor. His name is Alan Bloomfield, and he sold Galls several years ago. He doesn't strike me as a flaming liberal, though he has hosted fundraisers for candidates from both parties.
Galls doesn't strike me as a terrorist front (at least intentionally), as Aramark is a large publicly traded company and Lexington is in the heart of Bush Country.

27 NEWSFIRST has learned federal law enforcement authorities are investigating a Lexington business.
Agents executed search warrants at Galls Incorporated on Palumbo Drive and a warehouse on Russell Cave Road.
Galls is a national supplier of police and emergency services equipment.
Among the agencies involved in the investigation are the Homeland Security Cabinet and the Department of Defense. A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office tells 27 NEWSFIRST, Federal officials are investigating whether the company had a license to send gear to restricted countries. They're also looking into any wrongdoing by company employees.
Employees were told to go home for the day. Federal agents kept supervisors inside.
The search is expected to last for much of the day.
At the Russell Cave location, an employee watched Federal Agents and State Police go in and out of the warehouse. She says she has no idea what was going on and when she went into work, everything seemed normal.
I just hope the Feds don't show up at my house wanting to see my authorization to buy my "blue light" from Galls!
