Vets, residents brace for inconveniences

While Sen. John F. Kerry [related, bio] and top Democrats party in the FleetCenter, disabled veterans who receive medical treatment across the street will be forced to travel to a Jamaica Plain clinic to make room for the Democratic National Convention bash.

``I didn't know it was closing,'' said Paul Love, a 79-year-old World War II veteran, who sat outside the Veterans Administration clinic on Causeway Street yesterday.

Secret Service and military officials are taking over the building for security reasons, leaving the Jamaica Plain clinic as the only option for local vets who need medical care next week.
