Dems Showcase Their Anti-Gun Policies
CNSNEWS.com ^ | 7/23/04 | Susan Jones

(CNSNews.com) - A Second Amendment group says Democrats are showing their true colors by inviting a "rabidly anti-gun" lawmaker to address the Democratic National Convention next week.

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) said Rep. Carolyn McCarthy will have a "plum opportunity" to push for legislation extending the ban on so-called assault weapons - a ban that will expire in mid-Sept.

"For months, Democrats have been out hustling gun owners for their votes, trying to portray themselves as pro-Second Amendment," said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. "Giving McCarthy a microphone proves Democrats haven't abandoned their failed gun control policies."

CCRKBA notes that McCarthy's husband was murdered by a "deranged racist gunman" named Colin Ferguson, who also wounded her son in a shooting on a commuter train in 1993. But Ferguson did not use an "assault weapon" in that crime. He used a handgun he purchased in California -- a state with some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation.

"So much for John Kerry's pheasant hunting and skeet shooting photo ops with borrowed firearms, or any other lip service that Democrats are offering gun owners back in their districts," Gottlieb said.

"Allowing McCarthy a forum to campaign against the firearms rights of millions of law-abiding Americans in the middle of their national convention should tell firearms owners all they need to know about the true Democrat agenda."

CCRKBA is urging all gun owners to listen to McCarthy's speech and the applause it elicits from the party leadership - "and then decide whether Democrats deserve to be trusted with their Second Amendment rights."

McCarthy is my rep. She was a registered Republican, until the Dims asked her to run. Her qualifications to hold the position of Rep? Her husband was murdered.

I expect to eventually see a similar wave of 9-11 victims' family members running for office.

Heck, we already made most of them millionaires, how long until that gets boring and they decide to take up politics?

John Kerry has not been photographed with anything but an over under or single shot..

The Bill he has co sponsored aims at banning ALL SEMI AUTO weapons and ALL PUMP type weapons that can take a detachable magazines...all handguns will be outlawed...he hasnt told us how he intends on accomplishing that...but a frog is boiled and a tax payer hustled one degree at a time..

While the Euro weenies the femanized and neutered Brits and their clones the Canucks, Kiwis & Aussies have caved in to the NWO demands they be disarmed and have given up without a fight......Kerry his pack of running dog 3rd way 4th Reichers (including many Republicans)...are going to have a real fight on their hands when they come to disarm any REAL AMERICANS

When the Boys & Girls get back from fighting in Iraq and Trashcanistan...they wont be too pleased to hear that while every affirmative action cop in America (the free?) gets to carry concealed to protect their familes....while freshly baptized by fire..combat veterans...CAN NOT...

And El Presidente Jorge Arbusto signed it into law yesterday...

Hey Kerry & other Commies...you better pack a lunch...

imo

the people running the 9/11 families commission already talk like politicians. Only a matter of time before they become politicians.

Make no mistake, were there to be a Democratic White House and majority in Congress, guns would be target number one. Regardless of Sports Man Kerry.

The bill allows more people to carry concealed firearms who would otherwise not be allowed to. It's a positive step.

In response to the 9-11 commissions recommendations for sweeping changes in our intelligence community, I heard Joe Lieberman state that it may be necessary to call a special session of congress to handle the problems.

Hasn't Congress adjourned for the summer today?

If so, I am obligated to state that I was wrong about the pubs in Congress, at least Delay and the house. I really didn't expect them to hold off the AWB extension.

For the dems to get a new semi ban they have to start from scratch in the fall during the final run up to the election.
That will be tough going.

The concealed carry for cops could be positive, if it is a step on the way to true national concealed carry for citizens.

A lot depends on who holds Congress.

Guess I'm voting (republican) after all, at least as long as Cheney stays on the ticket.

Guess that means I will be badgering and browneating everyone unfortunate enough to come in contact with me into voting too.

Yes, they're supposed to adjourn but I heard them talking on FOX News this morning like Bush might ask them to stay to implement the 9-11 commission's recommendations.

Damn! It's like every day is Groundhog Day.

I will take the positive outlook(for a change) and think that congress in session will overshadow the Rat convention.

I think they have a final week before it sunsets. However, in that time it would have to go through the committee, go through the Senate and I think there isn't that much time. There would have to be complete co-operation between both parties. The votes aren't there. That's why the NRA had said the fight was during the last elections. We needed our votes to stop it.

Ignoring the Republican majority, kicking RINOs out and returning control to the anti dems would have put the AWB as an amendment to an unrelated Bill. It was supposed to happen on this police officers CCW Bill. When that didn't happen, I was relieved.

It just won't be over for the anti's. Expect more articles in the papers, possibly something as bad as Matt's book, Enemies, Foreign and Domestic and the dems working behind the scenes. The dems will never admit to destroying the Second Amendment. They'll continue to claim they support your use of a single shot .22 or an over and under.

Well, I don't have a single shot .22 or overunder, so for me the line is here already.

You know sometimes people get what they want and also what they deserve.

Such is the case with Rats and gun control.

If they ever get what they want, they will also get what they deserve.

No they won't. If they get into power again, it will be our fault because we didn't work hard enough. We went from a liberal presidency to a moderate one. We can't expect to change the mood of the country in such a short time to a conservative one. We facing "Broken Glass" dems who want Bush out at all costs and we're the ones bickering over whether or not we should throw away our votes.

We're facing a candidate who's to the left of hitlery, schumer, boxer, feinstein and we're saying we're not happy with Bush.

80 million gunowners and 90% of them are sitting on their asses doing nothing to protect their Rights, property and country.

The bill allows more people to carry concealed firearms who would otherwise not be allowed to. It's a positive step. And in contrast, any bill that creates two seperate classes of citizens is bad. I would assume most FReepers agree with me on this one.

Sorry to learn about your unenviable situation, Kattracks.

As for the Democrats, just when you think they can't get dumber, they do. What a party!

My only hope is to live long enough to see the returns on November 2.

That's what some gun owners said about CCW Bills.

Let's push now to add active duty and honorably discharged military. Pretty soon, it could become routine enough that every law-abiding citizen is permitted to keep and bear arms.
