The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.
"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."
We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

I agree...let's get back to the business of thwarting terrorist attacks. I think we should organize this forum in a way where we can utilize all our collective skills (i.e. stenography, arabic language translations, intelligence analysis, code breaking, etc.) to find out what the real deal is concerning the potential attacks.
That's great, but what of us with no skills whatsoever? I'd look kinda silly with pom-poms and a cheerleading uniform.
It's all very ad hoc as you will see after you've been here a while.
It seems to work fairly well, with lots of cross fertilization, I'm learning every day.

Freeper ettiquette requires one to ping the person they're referring to.
Actually, I think you as Queen extraordinaire of TM should make the final decision of what you want cut out from it.
I'm happy to welcome whatever you care to toss our way
EXCEPT for fighting, quibbling, bad attitudes etc.
I just thought Wilkerson's thing was sooooo in the middle of discussions about NYC in terms of nukes, etc. . . . that it was fitting to leave it here. But I'm not the least bit adamant about it.
I sure wish everyone could stay on topic, but that's just me.
Anyway, I'm reposting this in case anyone cares:

Turkey on alert after report of possible 9/11-style attack
Jul. 27, 2004 07:00 AM
ANKARA, Turkey - Airports in Turkey have been placed on the second highest terror alert level after officials received intelligence that the al-Qaida terror network may be planning Sept. 11-style attacks, a newspaper reported Tuesday.
The daily Milliyet said the warning said Osama bin Ladin's terror network may either hijack a plane to crash it onto a target or detonate an explosive device on board a plane.
The report did not say where the attack might take place.
The newspaper said the intelligence was received July 16 from an "important source." There were no other details.
Officials from the Interior and Transport ministries were not available to comment on the report.
Air safety officials held an emergency meeting last week and raised security to "yellow," the second highest, the paper said.
More than 60 people were killed in bomb attacks at two Istanbul synagogues, a London-based bank and the British Consulate in November 2003.
Officials have charged 69 suspected members of a Turkish al-Qaida cell in the bombings.
IE you are right!
Excellent post with a few "snickers" if you read between the lines. Thanks HipShot.
Don't know Liz. I don't have speakers and can't listen to scanner. It's not on the scrolling ticker anymore, so I don't know the status.
Back at post #1443, the linked article does mention the bomb squad blew up an empty box. Probably the same story, though the details were different. (bag vs. box; leaning against building vs. leaning against curb)
Scrolling ticker I posted about said cross-streets were Hyde & Congress; article says Beacon Hill... I don't know the area - is Hyde & Congress in Beacon Hill?
You are welcome.
There's something to be said for speaking metaphorically.
You have mail, by the way.
It's just that she's new, and needed it pointed out, otherwise you're back to square one with the infighting. Not good, and I like following this thread. :)
Do we need to compile a list of acronyms, euphemisms, and metaphors?
No, with all due respect, we need to stay on topic so these threads are readable and useful.
Israel isn't going to be happy about this.

"An Metet (Anonymous Remailer used by him before) (July 10, 2000)"
Know where I found that, Ken Mitchell?
It has quote a bit of interesting information on you.
Including this on http://www.masonicinfo.com/kenbelief.htm
"Several folks have written to ask about Ken Mitchell's beliefs. Based on postings to alt.freemasonry under his 60+ 'disguises', it's hard to comprehend just what this individual thinks. We know from past posts that he considers himself a Christian yet we cannot understand why someone who engages in such deceit and does such hurtful things would also think himself part of a religion which practices concepts like "Love thy neighbor" and "Do unto others". We've questioned Mr. Mitchell (under one of his many screen names) about his church membership, hoping to garner some insight into this matter. The replies were predictably evasive.
However, from past writings and from viewing several nearly identical web sites which Ken has created over the past months, it appears that he has three ideological 'heroes':
David Duke - The white supremacist turned politician (whom he claims is 'just a local politician';
David Irving - The Holocaust denier (whom Ken thinks is wrongly defamed - and says so on a couple of his web sites!);
Ernst Zundel - another, and perhaps the most noted Holocaust denier; and
'Pastor' Arnold Murray - the radio and television preacher from Arkansas who hosts a daily Bible study program on radio and via satellite television. It's also available on the Internet."
The site also claims you use the nym "Nomen Nescio (Anonymous Remailer)," another rabid hater we've seen here in alt.revisionism.
I'm sorry to disappoint DEM, but I believe this is not Scott Bradbury, but probably a "fan" of his.
You'll also note that this same "An Metet" sent threatening e-mail to me the same day as this post.
Here's the complete list of An Metet's other aliases:
A.Melon (October 17, 2000) - Amazing how this hidden identity was able to post a message from 1998 relating to Ken - and yet, he claims that there's no proof that this identity is really him! Anonymous (September 11, 2000)
Secret Squirrel (First date unknown) An interesting choice of remailers as this one is also used by a frenetic, hate-filled anti-Semitic sub-human to post on the alt.conspiracy newsgroups. Could Kenny be that identity as well? While we'd certainly hope not, it's clear that much of the antagonism against certain Masons seems now to stem from his hatred of certain religious beliefs.... Nomen Nescio (Anonymous Remailer) (July 16, 2000) **This 'name' (or lack thereof) is also in use by another anti-Mason described elsewhere on this site! It can be SO confusing in the world of anti-Masonry obfuscation sometimes.... An Metet (Anonymous Remailer used by him before) (July 10, 2000)
Anon (Anonymous Remailer) (June, 2000)
Anonymous Sender (Anonymous Remailer) (May 17, 2000)
Bilgates Remailer (1 March 99) Note: this particular address can be used by anyone so not all posts bearing this address may be from Kennie. The language pattern so telling, however, will easily identify those which are. Ken has chosen this location because, apparently, of problems with his 'rebel' identity having spoken out in support of Ernst Zundel, noted Holocaust denier and having made libelous statements regarding alt.freemasonry newsgroup members. Within the last four weeks or so, I have posted in this thread as An Metet, A. Melon, Frog2, etc. on the subject of the 42LE transmission. Essentially, people had brought up problems with that transmission and asked about recourse, including getting Chrysler to pick up the tab, or even suing Chrysler. For the most part, those people were receiving discouraging, incorrect responses here from various individuals, including some who pretended to speak with authority, apparently because they work for Chrysler or Chrysler dealerships in some capacity.
Stenography is something that has always interested me and we know al qaeda used the imbedding of messages and info in porn pics, etc. Are you versed in steg? That would be great. I need to learn more but have relied pretty well on others who use steg software.
That was a joke. I forgot the smily.
Besides, who would want to wade through a virtual matryoshka.
Turkish Truck Driver's Body Found
4:53 pm PST, 27 July 2004
A Turkish truck driver who went missing in Iraq has been killed and his body has been found by relatives in a morgue in Baghdad.
Cemal Ugur, who was killed in an armed attack near the Iraqi capital, was buried in his native village of Sultankoy in south-eastern Turkey.
It was not known when the man, father of seven children, was killed.
Israel's reaction is already in the news. The "must exhaust all political" stuff.
It's not gonna be pretty. AQ promised that they would see to Israel as soon as they defanged us.
I know it was a joke, and that's why I said, with all due respect, that we need to stay on topic. Fewer jokes, fewer tits-for-tats, fewer personal arguments... more TM.
But I'm not the Thread Police, I'm just stating my opinion. I rarely get to read this thread and I hate having to wade through PHD to find actual substance. Again, maybe it's just me.
Big thanks to you for your synopsis.
Jittery Americans still ill-prepared for disaster
On any given day, 15 million shipping containers are in transit around the world, the workhorses of a global bazaar that most of us depend upon for the goods that prop up our lives. Could one of those containers carry a secret nuclear device? Would anyone find it?
If you don't enjoy losing sleep about such questions, you probably don't want to spend much time around Stephen Flynn, a former U.S. Coast Guard commander who has spent the past five years investigating North America's defences against crime and terrorism.
sorry didn't see it had been posted
No problem, worth repeating. ;-)
Driver Tells Troopers of Terror Plans
ASSOCIATED PRESS/ Las Vegas Sun ^ | 27 July 2004 | LESLIE PARRILLA
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A driver stopped on an Iowa highway this month was found with flight-training manuals, Arabic documents and night-vision goggles, and he told troopers he knew of terrorist plans to shoot up trains in San Diego, according to court papers.
Michael Wagner, 44, of San Diego, said he had knowledge of terrorist activities and people and groups tied to al-Qaida and the Taliban. Wagner also said that he knew about things in the Muslim communities in San Diego that would interest federal authorities.

Russian army engineers averted a new terrorist act in Chechnya evacuating handmade mine
GROZNY, July 27 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian army engineers averted a new terrorist act in Chechnya Monday. The Grozny military commandants office told Tass the engineers found a handmade mine planted in a street between a 9-story apartment block and the office of the Chechen state radio and TV company.
The engineers first attempted to destroy the mine by machinegun fire, however it did not explode. The mine was then evacuated outside the city and eliminated.
Nebraska prepares for possible bio-terrorist attack
By Kristina Jergensen , The North Platte Telegraph 07/26/2004
From left, Stacy Olea and Barbara Dethlefs, both of Ogallala Community Hospital, and Rhonda Theiler, director of Sandhills District Health Department in Ogallala discuss ways to respond to a fictional scenario of a bio-terrorism attack in Nebraska.
If terrorists used disease-causing agents to attack Nebraska, would emergency workers in North Platte and area towns know how to respond?
This question was the theme of a disaster preparedness seminar Tuesday sponsored by the West Central District Health Department and attended by more than 50 people from area hospitals, emergency agencies covering a 16-county area, nursing homes, police and fire departments, health departments, the media and service organizations such as United Way and The Salvation Army.
