DFU SONG: Take Me Out to the Ballgame (Kerry booed in Boston...throws opening pitch like a girl)
DFU SONGS | 7-2004 | Lyrics, Doug from Upland

Posted on 07/25/2004 6:01:39 PM PDT by doug from upland

It never crossed the plate.....

He was booed loudly by the Fenway crowd when he was announced.

MIDI - TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME

Take me out to the ballgame...it's the RedSox and Yanks
Kerry is throwing out the first pitch
At least it wasn't Hillary *itch
He could not get it to the catcher
Like a girl he throws
Let us keep on mocking the scum in both song and prose

Take me out to the ballgame...it's too much to believe
He turned on our soldiers, what a disgrace
How can he be here showing his face?
He could not get it to the catcher
Like a girl he throws
Let us keep on mocking the scum in both song and prose

Wonder if we will see replays of the Booing? I bet we never hear about this in the news, or the Boos will be edited out for replay.

If bush got booed in west texas by the locals then yes that would be the same. This was John Kerry in the most liberal state in hte union, in the most liberal part of the state, and it happens to be HIS HOME TOWN!

They obviously are not happy about having the city shut down for him.

I hope the GOP will try to leave NYC a bit more open for its convention so it doesn't piss of half the city like Kerry has done with Boston.

Your song made me think that somehow John Fraud got his Purple Hearts from Cracker Jacks.

(Doug, you know I am not disparaging the PH here---however, I don't believe he earned his three PH's fair and square. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.)

Did you know he served in Vietnam?

Its only 60 feet to the plate!!!! My 78 year old father-in-law throws farther than that! (he is one hell of a man, BTW. Was in the South Pacific in WW II, He was slated to be in the first wave of the invasion of Japan. He walked through Hiroshima just weeks after the bomb was dropped. Never tell him that Truman was wrong to drop the bomb. He'll kick your @$$ into next week!)

Kerry tossing a ball to a soldier.

Interesting.

A metaphor for a nightmarish Kerry presidency that would expect a CIC to toss support to the troops, but have it never quite get there?

A true Ah-nuld "girly-man".

Two takes.

So he comes up short...
Wonder if Tereeza has noticed the same thing.

or

So Kerry pitches like he campaigns...
Throws it into the dirt.

Okay, so you've got two choruses but no verses? Oh well, maybe nobody knows the verse to that song, but it does have one. My go:
The World Series, Two Thousand One,
The first game it had just begun.
Dubya Bush let the first pitch fly.
It flew by. T'was a stri [ke].
In July in two thousand four,
A Democrat tried to tie the score.
He'd pitch one too--any pitch would do--
though people would have to ask why.
Not great, but I think it fits the rhyme and meter of the original verse.

Listen to the MIDI. I think I got the meter right.

Well, sorta. Check syllable stresses:

I don't CARE if I EVer get BACK.
AT least IT wasn't HILLary [W]ITCH. [DFU]
[At] LEAST it WASn't that HILLary [W]ITCH. [Thoughtomator]

Moving "at" to a pickup note (or leaving it out altogether) improves the word stress pattern for the next few notes, even if it necessitates adding another syllable elsewhere.

BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

A girl threw the shotput 60 feet.

Different dream realized;
By Ned Barnett, Staff Writer // July 19, 2004
Visit USA Track & Field

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Laura Gerraughty, the North Carolina senior who once dreamed of being an Olympic gymnast, will be going to the Games in a far different event -- the shot put.

Gerraughty won the women's shot put final at the U.S. Olympic trails Friday night with a throw of 60 feet, 8 1/2 inches.

"I shaking, I'm just so excited," Gerraughty said as she prepared to go to the victory stand at Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium. "I can't wait to represent my country in Athens."

Sung out along with the tune, it makes a lot more sense with the word "that" in there, imho. "At" does become a grace note in this context, which works because the word "at" by itself doesn't deserve any stress (unless you are making a direct comparison to the use of a differing preposition, which I don't think is happening here).

I know, and SNAFU doesn't really mean "situation normal--all 'fouled' up" either. But this is supposed to be a family-friendly board; I bracketed the 'W' to make clear that other substitutions were possible.

Take Kerry to the convention
Where Bill Clinto is really the star
You know they really want him to lose
So that Hillary can go far

Take him out to Michigan
See him in a Rolls Royce
He'll tax you to death for a nanny state
Take so much you'll never get it back

So...send him back to Boston
Back to the graveyard where he belongs
If I want Lurch I'll watch TV Land
I don't want him screwing up my homeland

So send him to election day
Watch as he gets creamed
His party's leaders are all insane
Let's hope they never win the White House again
(At least not within my own lifetime!)
