A 65-year-old man and his son and daughter were beheaded and his wife severely wounded in an overnight raid on a village in India's Jammu-Kashmir state by suspected Islamic militants, police said Monday.
Four assailants forced their way into the home of Mohammed Shafi, 65, before killing him, his 22-year-old son and 15-year-old daughter in Daraj village in the state's militancy-wracked Rajouri district, an officer at the local police control room said on condition of anonymity.
The attackers also tried to behead Shafi's wife but she survived, and was in hospital in serious condition, police said.
The village is located 180 kilometers (110 miles) northwest of Jammu, the winter capital of Jammu-Kashmir state.
None of the militant groups actve in the region immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
Islamic militants have been fighting since 1989 for Kashmir's independence from India or its merger with Pakistan. More than 65,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed.
Note that the victims here were muslims. What do these b@stards want? Can India do anything?

I am so sick of these vermin and their openly accepted practice of committing murder and violence in the name of Islam. Waiting for "moderate" Muslims to condemn these acts is like waiting for someone to declare that the paint is "dry enough". It's never going to happen.
To radical (fundamentalist) islam, moderate muslims are no better than infidels and deserve the same prescribed fate, or worse. Moderate muslims know this, but are afraid (justifiably). However, if they keep their heads in the sand, it will end up staying there of it's own accord (sans body).

This "religion" sows nothing but misery and violence wherever it goes. How long will it take people to wake up and smell the damned coffee!? The article didn't say the victims were Moslem.
There are numerous moderate Muslims in India&many have spoken out against instances like this-the slight problem is most of these scum are exported&maintained by Pakistan(oops did i forget to add that they are an ally of the US).Such "correct " practises are rather common in Pakistan where Christians&women have acid thrown on their faces-how can a nation formed on the (sole)basis of religion distance itself from the brutality of a religion,whose main hero(Muhammad) ordered the killing of a lady, while she was nursing her baby.One of the most popular &respected persons in India is it's president-A P J Abdul Kalam-being a Muslim he guided the development of India's space launch&missile programmes.So if we can hit China or Pakistan,we have to give due thanks to him.Muslims in India are considerably moderate(most of them) than their cuzins in Pakistan &the middle east-due to the influence of Hinduism,Christianity&secular democracy.
Kindly read their names(2nd sentence)-Jammu&Kashmir has about 65-70 % Muslims in its population.India itself has a population of over 130 million,2nd only to Indonesia.
Being "moderate" is not enough. "Moderate" just means you're not that interested in killing. What's needed are Muslims willing to COUNTER-ATTACK the radicals, and that's not gonna happen. A Muslim willing to fight other Muslims on the side of non-Muslims, is not a Muslim

You are assuming they are Moslem by their names, and then stating it as fact? Interesting. First rule of journalism -- just the facts. Never assume anything. For all you know, they could have been former Moslems targeted for leaving the faith, or their parents might have just liked Moslem-sounding names.

Most Folks in India(or other eastern societies) don't have "sounding" names as they have in the west due to the greater importance of religion in daily life.They must have been Shias or Sufis(sort of an exotic cult in Islam.Also most Hindus have avoided living in the more "intense conflict" areas since the mid-80s.
Bout why they have been killed-they probably were informants to the Army or paramilitary anti-terror forces(or members of local village defence units) or due to petty disputes-&besides our jehadi pals don't really need a reason to kill do they.We've lost 60'000 thousand of our citizens to these pigs-it's weakened our country&led to the rise of Hindu extremism-if u think Sept 11th was painful-for a moment ,put yourself in my place.
Err bout ur rather fascinating view on assumptions -ive been reading bout these sorts of slaughter since i was 8years&i've learned not to assume anything especially with these sorts of sensitive issues&bout America's global nice guy image(the US tied the spineless Indian government's hands when it wanted to retaliate in may of 2002 ,when these animals slaughtered 29 people including a 2month old baby,all because they were relatives of army officers).
BTW-being an Indian(Christian) living in India-i do presume that i am in a more slightly advantageous position to understand&analyse these events.
Well ive not faced any problems in my corner of the woods(Kerala,south India) as yet,thanks to the mercy of the person upstairs.Yep most Indians-Christians,Hindus&Muslims don't bother bout each other's identity,though in recent years there has been visible strains.U could attribute it to the Inherent tolerance of Hinduism&also to the fact that the British &other missionaries did'nt impose their religion threadbare&laid the foundations of a sound intellectual&political class(though the Brits messed up their legacy by using religion to divide&allowing India's partition). I pray that the new government does'nt goof up.

This enemy regards the overwhelming majority of Muslims as "lapsed ones" or "hypocrites".
