I'm always surprised that it seems not a lot of people know about this scenic gem located about 10 miles upstream of Washington, D.C. In addition to being a scenic spot, it's also one of the nation's top training areas for competitive whitewater kayaking and canoeing.

I'm always surprised that it seems not a lot of people know about this scenic gem located about 10 miles upstream of Washington, D.C.I was there a couple of months after Hurrican Fran. There was debris wedged in the rocks a good 30 feet about the waterline.

That is really fierce. I haven't heard too many stories this summer of people drowning yet. There was that student crew coach from UVA(?) who fell out of the chase boat last month, while coaching some little kids.
