High-Stakes Convention
Poll Shows Support for Kerry Weakens on Issues and Attributes

The critical convention season begins with John Kerry losing momentum at just the hour he'd like to be gaining it: President Bush has clawed back on issues and attributes alike, reclaiming significant ground that Kerry had taken a month ago.

These numbers are amazing considering all of the negative press, lies etc. I predict a Bush landslide in November.

Maybe so they can show a bigger bounce for Kerry after the convention? Or maybe it's real and people just plain don't like Kerry?

MSN's headline news this morning was "What Theme Will JFK Pursue At Convention".

I thought, Oh, Man...that's got to hurt. The guy is so rudderless that the big question is which way will he blow in the wind this week.

They are playing the under-expectation game....got to give Kerry some room to move up.

To tell you the truth, I don't want to see Bush way out in front until about the 3rd week of Oct. I like it when Bush plays the under-expectation game too.

More and more people are now paying attention, it can only get worse for Kerry. Every time he comes out in the open, and tries to sell a policy issue, he plummets.

"Poll Shows Support for Kerry Weakens on Issues and Attributes"

That little Clinton gal must be feeling a little relief...she CAN be a contender in 2008 after all!

"I predict a Bush landslide in November."

Nope; not a good idea. I still remember what our basketball coach used to say...play like you're 25 points BEHIND, no matter how far ahead you are and there's only 10 seconds left on the clock.

It helps lower expectations so that whatever bounce the candidate receives will seem that much more significant.

All polls taken during this time by the pollsterWHORES are design to BOOST Lurch's numbers after the convention! DO NOT PUT ANY STOCK IN THEM! They are lowering LURCH'S expections until after the circus is over...than BAMMO! Watch, after the JACKASS party is over and the numbers come out, LURCH will be revered as a honorable, trusted, loving, a GENIUS(putz), blah, blah, blah....the list will be long and polls will be quoted. HAVE ANTIACIDS handy!

No offense, but if you're down 25 with 10 ticks left, you stand around and let the other team run out the clock.

This goes completely against the gloom-and-doom just presented on FOXNEWS: that Bush is behind, that voters have made up their minds to get rid of Bush and all Kerry has to do is make the voters comfortable with him.

I don't buy that. Iraq is stable, the good news on home sales today, and the likely job improvements will continue to drive his job approval numbers higher.

And when they're not pondering THAT one, they're sweating bullets about whether his supporting cast of crazies will blow the whole thing with their twitching and foaming over George Bush in front of the nation.

Brit posted some poll data (and not just Opinion Dynamics). Mort was the most negative, Fred said Bush has plenty of time and money to impact Kerry negatively, and Mara said external events could still work in Bush's favor.

I just found it to be an overall negative picture.

This ABC poll is outstanding in Bush's favor.

Bush hasn't even put the rounds in the magazine yet, no less fired his best volley. He's flush with money, he's flush with 18 years of Kerry's liberal voting record, he's gonna get a boost from Duelfers report vis a vis WMD, Iraq is goin pretty good thanks to a guy named Allawi, 9/11 report is a non issue and the economy is riding the business cycle.

I happen to think Bush is sitting in the catbirds seat because like the last Mr Personality the lunacrats put forth, this guy couldn't charm a snake.

WOW. This is incredible. Think about it. The multi-level, organized attacks on President Bush have been relentless for months on end. The MSM has bolstered every smear and showcased every liar with a Bush bashing book to sell.. Just tonight Brit Hume pointed out that CBS did a total of 32 stories on Joe Wilson's tall tale. However, in the nearly 2 weeks since his claims were refuted CBS has not reported one word about that.

I'm siding with those that believe this poll is a set-up so they can show a huge increase in numbers for Kerry after his convention. It's all a lie, of course, but the media wants Bush out at any cost. Credibility is not an issue for our current "unbiased" media.

Every time he comes out in the open, and tries to sell a policy issue, he plummets.

The steady stream of Dukakis in the tank moments doesn't help him either. And I'll bet this poll doesn't even take into account the hat trick of these moments he's gotten in the last 24 hours.

Don't forget the power of the media..they have managed to convince more than half the country that Bush was not truthful about Iraq - and half the country believes Bush stole the election. They have also convinced many that what Sandy Berger did was no big deal. After the convention, they will convince many that Kerry really is better than Bush and the poll numbers, whether true or not, will show a swing towards Kerry. The ABC poll is a sham.
