Skip to comments.Eating our own...Time to make a new start in Free Republic.
Posted on 07/26/2004 7:41:11 PM PDT by Bob J
The last few months I've seen an increasing trend for FReepers to start going for each others jugular. Sometimes we forget (I've certainly done it myself) that in the grand scheme of things, we are on the same team. We may disagree on priorities or how far we are willing to go, but we have enough enemy in the left without creating more amongst ourselves. We can disagree but be civil to each other. We can debate nuance, but not believe that our personal positions are more important than the health of the whole. Let's argue vigorously but remind ourselves the guy whose trachia we are ripping out today may be sitting next to us in a foxhole tommorrow.
I'm going to propose that we all make a new start. Let's put all past differences behind us and resolve to band together and fight the good fight, the elimination of liberalism as a significant culturual influence in America...and see that to its end in our lifetimes.
If you agree, please post your thoughts and ping your lists and your friends to this thread.
Don was always my friend. He exploded over the talkspot issue, an overreaction in my opinion, but I respect his standpoint.
Silver lining: better Speaker Blount than Speaker Gephardt.
Okay, he's right. I'll stop picking on youz guyz ;-)
Hey, I havn't pissed off anybody (yet) this week!
Yeah, but I got the 'Bob' name. :=)
I don't know whether I'm ahead of you or not, but we did both register the same day. I used to know my registration but I've forgotten it and can't seem to find it displayed anywhere.
Seriously it would be a measure of closure long sought by many thoughtful and forgiving souls including me.
However, in all honesty I believe amnesty should be limited to sane human life forms.
That said, as a Democrat I keep having to remind you all that Democrats frequently ignore intra party disputes about bad character in order to win another day. It always amazes me that conservatives are quick to murder their young just to teach them a lesson they'll never forget.
Pat Buchanan is a prime example. He hates President Bush and yet he claims to be only trying to defend conservatism...that is baloney. Pat B is only trying to stay in the limelight.
So, if you guys want to re-elect the President then you should be kinder to one another and in the meantime, watch out for the House and Senate 'cause we are going to be taking back at least one of them, and once again get a Congress with guts.
Not until after 02 NOV 04.
I trusted people on FR and was fed to the wolves.
The new kids think us old fogies are nothing but fossils...;-}.
Now THAT was classic!
Cold comfort. At least Blunt isn't a socialist... but he sure can spend my tax money like a neoliberal.
As for Gephardt, I wish that pasty commie would resign. He makes my state look bad.
Bed In For Peace
Hi RightOnline, nice to see you online.
Well Tam, I never noticed that!
Blond you know.
I'm an intense guy, and I stay focused.
I am in full election mode, nothing else matters right now. Watching this crap on TV tonight, realizing that losing this election will give us SIXTEEN YEARS of Liberals in charge, I must keep reminding myself that the enemy is (mostly) not on this site!
And you're not the enemy my friend.
Me so lucky!
Have a good evening and the very best to you and yours.
Slip Kerry and Edwards in there and it'll be perfect!
Hear, hear about Universal Healthcare?!?
OHHHHH... the grace-wisdom-footsteps thingie.... ;-)
