Muslim charity, seven men charged| Justice Department alleges ties to Hamas| The Associated Press|Updated: 3:50 p.m. ET July 27, 2004DALLAS| - A major American Muslim charity and seven of its officers were charged Tuesday with providing millions of dollars in support to Hamas, a Palestinian terrorist organization blamed for dozens of suicide bomber attacks in Israel.
The 42-count indictment, returned by a federal grand jury in Dallas, alleges that the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development provided more than $12.4 million to individuals and organizations linked to Hamas from 1995 to 2001. The U.S. government froze the charitys assets in December 2001.

(Remember how military service was an issue when Dan Quayle was nominated for vice president. Then it wasn't an issue when Bill Clinton was nominated for president. Now it is an issue when George W is running again. Like Robert Bork and marijuana, and Bill Clinton and marijuana. Or Thomas Clarence and allegations of improprity, and Bill Clinton and confessions of improprity. Is it just me, or is there a double standard?)
However short your stay...
It's just you...

RE-read his post before you go all "Troll-tard."
What makes you think the guy's a troll or a lib? Read his post again, my friend. He's on the right side.
Um, the troll spells improprity wrong... I don't think he's a serious freeper..
Yes, there is a double standard. Welcome to FreeRepublic.
Please tell me you are joking.
These guys are now looking through all your past postings to find some evidence that you might be latent troll.
LOL!
They might find that I was recently suspended for three days for attacking a lib scumbag.
About what? Being unable to properly spell impropriety?
As far as I could tell, he posted this article the day he joined. I've been hanging 'round Free Republic for over five years, I have never seen a newbie post the day, er, night he joins.
I am not joking, I thinks the boy is posting hoping to avoid being discovered while Jim Rob sleeps..
Add that to the fact that he posted before filling in his "about me" page..
I had a look at mikvahyid's "about page". He looks fairly serious and FReeperly to me.
His comments were all conservative and supportive of the Good guys. Read them before you fly off the handle. the guy's brand new. Give him a chance. He has made not a single liberal statement.
Last I checked, folks around here aren't getting zotted for misspellings. (Did I spell misspellings correctly?)
Perhaps that's it. I guess I'm just too far behind the curve.
LOL! I guess the misspelling must have messed up his formula and got him all hot and bothered!

Everyone knows that all you trolls sign up during months with an "R" in them.
I have been occasionally browsing FR since I came across the discussion on ebay's aircraft carrier auction in January. But the time has come to take a more pro-active part in preventing a Democratic victory come November.
I misspelled "publicly" just to see if you guys are really that tough on misspelling. (See above)
Um, that's all well and good, but since I'm paranoid now, I'm glad that I actually saw his "about page" first. And this is what I saw:
mikvahyid hasn't created an about page.
Again, he posts about the indictments, then starts to discuss the alleged "double standard". At best he's off topic and off to a bad start. Either way, the Viking Kitties will find out.
Ignore the wackos, my friend. Welcome to the FR. God save us from Johnhamed al Qerry!
And your about page tells us too much.
Dude, nobody cares.
Even the wackos get computer time at the "home" for one hour a day.
I'm sure he believes that we beat them British in the big war and we no longer have to use "English" sentences.
Not that we don't enjoy a good Troll-BQ.
Welcome to FR!
I wonder if the same Arabs listed have any ties to Cynthia McKinney.
Yeah but this year the dems have themselves a war hero! if they had a war hero to vote for like Bob Dole I am sure they would've voted for him.
"about" pages don't mean a whole lot. I've been here since 1998 (earlier actually but they redid the system back then and earlier data was lost). When we used to have member numbers I was 6716 (may have been 6715 though). Been replying to posts quite frequently for the past 6 years. Even posted a couple articles (I don't get out much and you other folk are far quicker to the sources then I am).
Read my about page. Am I a troll?
Tell me about it.
First of all, I thought the "Holyland Foundation" was busted a while ago.
Second of all, I wish more yidden, especially all the nuts at the Democrat convention right now, would wake up and figure out that Ashcroft is one of the good guys.
Hmmmmm. I kinda figured all the trolls were busy in Boston.
Welcome. This is hugh and series. ;-)
If you haven't read this book yet (link below), I can highly recommend it. Written by the woman who was way ahead of US agencies in this issue, due to her research into the Holyland Foundation, as well as other terrorist front groups here, and who gave the govt tons of information from her work.
The author, called Anonymous but later forced to reveal her identity due to a lawsuit by some moslem group, is an Iraqi Jew who is a recent arrival to the US, and whose family suffered greatly under Saddam.
Fascinating book.
Wow, I never heard about that book. Looks interesting. I hope this woman stays safe, wherever she is.
I hope the laws are such that their funds may be eventually seized after due process.
Yes, she seems to be an amazing woman, reading this account of her life and work. She would go into all kinds of conventions and meetings, dressed in the hijab and robes, even pregnant with her last child. And with tape machine running under her clothes!
Very frightening for her at times, she wrote of one event where she was getting sick to her stomach listening to what was being said about attacking the Jews, and had to get out before she passed out and was found out!
She was not supposed to have her identity revealed in this lawsuit, but it was apparently done inadvertantly, so it's said.
There are many more out there. Take me and most of my friends as another example.
I know there's a lot out there. Including me. I'm really talking about all the jews at the Dem convention acting like the Dems are so great for Israel and ignoring what Fritz Holling, Jimmy Carter, etc, have said about Israel and Jews. To them I say WAKE UP!
Mikvahyid's OK. I just checked to make sure he's logged in...
Ruh-roh, is that a requirement? I have been here 3 1/2 years and have yet to get around to filling out my "about me" page.

Homeland Security Appointee Under Investigation
Sunday, July 25, 2004
By Kelley Beaucar Vlahos
WASHINGTON Officials at the Department of Homeland Security are investigating the reinstatement of a top political appointee to the agency who was briefly suspended for failing to disclose ties to a controversial Islamic organization, FOXNews.com has learned.
Faisal Gill, director of policy for intelligence at DHS, was forced to take a few days off in March after sources close to the FBI raised flags about Gill*s former position as spokesman for the American Muslim Council. The now-defunct American Muslim Council ( search) was founded in 1990 to lobby Washington for the interests of American Muslims and had been involved in community activism to that end. AMC was established and headed by Abdurahman Alamoudi ( search), who was indicted in 2003 on passport fraud and illegal finance activities with Libya. Court documents call Alamoudi an active supporter of Hamas (search), which the U.S. State Department considers a terrorist organization, and an official in an international charity group run by Usama Bin Laden*s nephew. Alamoudi recently told federal officials he was part of a plot to assassinate King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.
According to a report first published last month by Salon.com reporter Mary Jacoby, Gill omitted his role with the American Muslim Council when he filed his employment application and requisite security clearances at the agency. Gill left off his "Standard Form 86" that he served as AMC?s spokesman in 2001. Homeland Security officials refused to comment on the report, but a spokeswoman for the department*s internal watchdog told FOXNews.com that Inspector General Clark Kent Ervin is ?looking further into the issue? of Gill*s employment at the department.
"He*s taking it seriously," said Tamara Faulkner, who would not confirm what kind of probe was being undertaken, but said reports of Gill?s re-instatement in light of his sensitive security position and failure to disclose a past affiliation with the AMC was at the heart of it. "I don*t know where it is at this point," she said. (well golly gee, .. shucks).
Capitol Hill sources as well as other sources close to the FBI confirmed Gill*s alleged omission of his ties to AMC led to his temporary removal from his post at Homeland Security. They added his employment there continues to be a source of curiosity.
According to sources close to the FBI, Gill, who also was director of government affairs for the Islamic Free Market Institute ( search) in Washington, D.C., was reinstated at DHS after a thorough background check.
Gill*s reinstatement has raised questions because of his link to Alamoudi, who was once a paid consultant of the U.S. State Department hired to forward the interests of Muslim, Jewish and Christian reconciliation. Soon after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, a videotape surfaced featuring Alamoudi fueling an anti-Israel rally in front of the Clinton White House in 2000 and declaring support for Hamas and Hezbollah terrorist organizations. Gill did not return phone calls or e-mails for comment.
Concern on Capitol Hill
Lawmakers and political observers are expressing concern about men with such ties being given access to high-level positions in the White House, and Gill*s employment at Homeland Security has invigorated a smoldering debate among Republicans. If a person worked in any capacity for the American Muslim Council, that had to be disclosed;
"it*s unconscionable not to disclose that if you are going to work for the Department of Homeland Security," said Rep. Peter King ( search), R-N.Y, who serves on the House Homeland Security Committee and recently published the Sept. 11-inspired novel, "Vale of Tears." ?The fact that he didn?t disclose this I think raises some serious questions, if anything, about his judgment,? King told FOXNews.com.
Look, I'm not a raving lunatic, seeing trolls under every rock, and if mikvahyid is a genuine conservative all the better. I didn't say he was a troll just because he didn't have an about page. In fact, I only used the word troll after another freeper suggested that he might be.
What I said was this:
Being a brand new member, he then posts an article (which is a duplicate from an earlier post) that has nothing to do with an alleged double standard that he then rants about. Where he just claims there's a double standard, but doesn't say who (though broadsword claims it's "the left"). Perhaps it's the arab charity that just got indicted that holds the double standard? He also asks whether these are the same arabs, when he doesn't reference any other arabs. I just thought it odd that he had this overpowering rush to show that everyone on Free Republic that he had "zeal to provide accurate timely information", but that he went about it in the weirdest way. Such as:
Late Posting
Duplicate post.
Irrelevant comments unrelated to the article posted.
Odd spelling errors. (not that I'm the spelling police, but I would think a new poster would try to make the best first impression)
The absolute FLOOD of trolls this past week.
Mikvahyid's decision to fill out an about page minutes after posting.
Mikvahyid's decision to fill out a tagline minutes after posting.
Usually one does this when they sign up, and I just thought it really weird to post this as fast as possible, then fill in the other stuff later.
Not being the only one who thinks he might be a troll due to the combination.
I guess if I wanted to go over to DU and start posting as a classic liberal, I would just start typing "No Nukes! No Nukes!", and DU would accept me with open arms. Even though my No Nukes comments would be after an article about how a photo was leaked about Kerry in a bunny suit at NASA.
It was suspicious, more than anything else.
Holy Land Indictments reveal City of Dallas Engineer is brother of top Hamas leader
The federal government's roundup Tuesday of seven Middle Eastern men on charges of funding the terrorist group Hamas yielded an unexpected disclosure: a link between Dallas City Hall and Hamas top leader in Israels occupied territories.
North Texas resident Mufid Abdulquader is a city of Dallas engineer who was among the men charged Tuesday in a 42-count indictment for allegedly using the Richardson-based Holy Land Foundation to funnel millions of dollars to Hamas terrorist operations. But Abdulquader, a Palestinian and naturalized U.S. citizen, has a connection to Hamas shared by none of the others.
Abdulquaders Syrian-based half brother is a top leader of Hamas, ranking so high that he has been a target of high-profile Israeli assassinations that have killed other organization leaders in recent months. Abdulquaders half-brother they share the same father is Khaled Mishaal, Hamas political bureau chief and U.S. designee as a global terrorist.
Until the government unsealed its indictment Tuesday, the family relationship between the city of Dallas engineer and Mishaal was known only to a few intelligence officials who had grown increasingly concerned about it as Hamas leaders began publicly threatening to target Americans.
Welcome to FR. Enjoy the ride.
Holy Land Indictments reveal City of Dallas Engineer is brother of top Hamas leader
Unfortunately the US has a very short memory. When the Israelis assassinated Abu Jihad in Tunis, he was not replaced be a Palestinian from a refugee camp in Gaza, nor by someone from the Syrian, Libyan, or Iranian security apparatuses (apparati), his replacement, Ramadan Abdulah Shallah, was a professor at USF Tampa. This article is so expected as to make almost un-newsworthy. But because guilt by association is somtimes a very likely, it is not an "American" value, so we had to wait 8 years before the he and his fellow Islamic Jihad Cell members were indicted. Golly Gee Whiz what a surprise. For more info see: http://www.usdoj.gov/usao/flm/pr/022003indict.pdf And http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/South/02/20/professor.arrest/
