Whoopi Goldberg has pulled out of appearing on American TV show The View - in a bid to avoid further political controversy. The comedienne, who was scheduled to appear on network ABC's talk show yesterday, canceled her appearance as she is concerned her comments could detract from the Democratic convention. Goldberg was recently dropped as a spokesperson for diet aid company Slim-Fast after she mocked US President George W Bush at a Democratic fundraiser. A source says, "Those comments she made last time made headlines. It's inevitable that whole thing would have been a topic of conversation on The View and either that or something else Whoopi says - and of course, she's going to say what she thinks about Bush and it ain't pretty - would make headlines again. The Democrats just don't need that right now." Goldberg's spokesman comments, "Whoopi and only Whoopi decided that she would prefer not to appear on television during the convention."

Nothing like having Whoopie on a women's show and her claim to fame is comparing the president to her genitals. I suppose she hates her genitals. Some men I know refer to theirs as the "family jewels" ... but Whoopi hates hers so much she compares someone she hates to them. Not exactly the pure feminist message. She's sick!

No kidding! Jones is very outspokenly liberal. Of course, all of the others are, too...with the exception of the newcomer, Elizabeth (?). The one married to the pro football player. She is apparently pretty conservative, but the others usually talk her down.

Ghost star Whoopi Goldberg has defended her choice to attack American President George W. Bush, which led to her being dropped as a spokesperson for diet aid company Slim-fast. Bosses at Slim-Fast dropped the Oscar-winning star from their ad campaign, after admitting they were "disappointed" in her remarks at last Thursday's $7.5 million star-studded fundraiser for presidential hopeful John Kerry at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Goldberg caused offence at the event, when, according to the New York Post, "She fired off a stream of vulgar sexual wordplays on Bush's name in a riff about female genitalia." But an unrepentant Goldberg hits back in a written statement, "Just because I'm no longer in those (commercial) spots, it doesn't mean I will stop talking. While I can appreciate what the Slim-Fast people need to do in order to protect their business, I must also do what I need to do as an artist, as a writer and as an American - not to mention as a comic. I only wish that the Republican re-election committee would spend as much time working on the economy as they seem to be spending trying to harm my pocketbook."
