BLOOMINGTON -- Filmmaker Michael Moore's Bush-basing documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" apparently has upset more than Republicans.
The (Bloomington) Pantagraph newspaper in central Illinois has sent a letter to Moore and his production company, Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., asking Moore to apologize for using what the newspaper says was a doctored front page in the film, the paper reported Friday. It also is seeking compensatory damages of $1.
A scene early in the movie that shows newspaper headlines related to the legally contested presidential election of 2000 included a shot of The Pantagraph's Dec. 19, 2001, front page, with the prominent headline: "Latest Florida recount shows Gore won election."
The paper says that headline never appeared on that day. It appeared in a Dec. 5, 2001, edition, but the headline was not used on the front page. Instead, it was found in much smaller type above a letter to the editor, which the paper says reflects "only the opinions of the letter writer."
"If (Moore) wants to 'edit' The Pantagraph, he should apply for a copy-editing job," the paper said. Lions Gate Entertainment did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment Friday.

Lard A$$ Strikes again.
Moore says the American people are dumb. He's made dozens of millions off his ruse. Hmmmm.
Pudgeboy's pants on fire.
It also is seeking compensatory damages of $1.
Wow, can he afford it!?
Shame shame Mikey. Too big for your britches, I see.
(and I mean that literally as well as figuratively. heheheh)
Moore is a morass of hate.
Um ok.
Seymour Hersh has won every journalism award in the world using similar tactics in print. To the Left, lying is fine as long as it advances the cause.
Too bad this wasn't' before O'Reilly's softball interview.
Another lie from that disgusting blob, Moore.
Well, he's a Democrat - - it's what they do; it's what they ARE.
"Pudgeboy's pants on fire."
Pudgeboy?
You are being MORE than kind.
I was just having a discussion the other day with a "moderate" who usually leans repub in the end. He had seen Moore's movie and stated at some point about the recount showing Gore had won. I was like what? Every paper and major news organization in the country quietly determined after counting them every way they could come up with that Bush won in all cases. He mentioned that they showed one in the movie that said Gore had won.
Why does nobody call him on all of this? (Rhetorical question, I know the answer....)
I pride myself on my sensitivity.
I hope more people sue his a$$ for all the fraud he has committed. There are laws against that....right??!!! When Edwards loses his race for Veep maybe he can represent MM in all the lawsuits.... ;)
The receipts for his showings kind of prove that. At least for a hell of a lot of Americans.
Babyface had better cozy up to MM for a job because he ain't gonna be VP.
bump
If it were a conservative filmmaker who had committed a fraud like this, the newspaper would have been suing for $100 million dollars.
Time to update your friend. Send him this article.
If he did it in that one case, what do you want to bet that most of his "newspaper headlines" were bogus?
Another PIG fart!
Why? So Bill could have not brought up yet one more serious issue?
...and the Joseph Goebbels Propoganda Award for excellence in film production goes to...
No big deal the WHOLE FRIGGIN movie is one big LIE!! Moore could care less about truth all that matters to him is his socialist/commie agenda.
You're absolutely right about that.
"He has Artistic License, a privilege granted to the Hollywood Aristocracy."
But it's supposed to be a documentary. It's not. It's a pile of distorted lies. That's lying - not artistic license.
$1.00?
Sue his shorts off.
Give him one of Monica's dirty thongs.
Parade him with Billdo on . . . some very distant planet.
Then lock that address out of the Stargate dialer.
So, he's not worried about us peons pulling back the curtain and finding the wizard is a troll. All he cares about is that we go see his movies, help him buy another home, and accept everything he says as gospel. Oh,yeah, and adore him too!!
As a Texas lawyer, I will represent anyone in a Texas state or federal court against Moore IF they can bring me a valid legal claim. The problem is almost no one has standing to bring a suit, and Moore likely isn't amenable to jurisdiction in Texas (state) courts. For Federal, you'd likely have to go to either Michigan or New York, unless there is some personal jurisdiction in another state. A movie he produced being shown in several dozen Texas theatres doesn't make the minimum contacts necessary, and he I doubt he's been anywhere near Texas (at least for a long time) for fear of getting shot.
Oh big deal. Another Moore 7truth-victim chickening out. A ONE DOLLAR fine? For pity sakes...

There it is...

Now it is making the front of liberal Yahoo News.
I don't think he even cares about that. It's just a way for him to get money, attention, and respect.
He's that kid in school who dropped his pants and mooned out the back window of the school bus just for the notoriety it would bring. He's all grown up now, but nowhere near maturity.
Has anybody been keeping a list of all the lies in this movie?
Pantagraph Bump! (From a proud subscriber.) I've never been much of a Bill Flick fan, but he can now add me to his fan list. I love it when the facts prove that Michael Moore is nothing but a big LIAR!
Moore said he was coming to Florida on election day, starting in Jacksonville, where I live. I will vote early and stay up all night so I can find that bastard and spit right in his face, then dare the pussy to do domething about it! (You do know Florida has conceal carry permits and many good folks pack heat just in case an asshole comes around!)
A suit for small damages works better in this instance in my opinion.
The newspaper carried the headline (albeit inside). Therefore, Moore's use of it on the front page for his film, would probably be condoned by the judiciary - if the paper was suing for major financial damages.
However, if the Judge sees that they are suing for small money, but on principle - the judge is more likely to swing in their favour, thus claiming the moral victory over Moore.

Moore faked a newspaper headline in his movie! They are suing.
Most people ignore his ilk.
Only the obviously dying major liberal news networks give him airtime.
