Echoing the themes of his nomination acceptance speech the night before, Kerry vowed to restore credibility to the White House, while accusing Bush of misleading people over the war in Iraq and muddling the fight against terror.
"These are dangerous times ... and we deserve a president who tells the truth to the American people," he said.
Kerry and his vice presidential running mate, John Edwards, were accompanied by both their families, as well as Hollywood heart throb Ben Affleck -- doing a bit of goodwill stumping.
Earlier, their bus convoy pulled over at a Wendy's fast food restaurant for a photo opportunity lunch that provided an awkward moment.
Spotting a group of US Marines, Kerry, who has made his Vietnam War service a cornerstone of his campaign, went over to chat. The Marines, who all turned out to be staunch Bush reporters, were not impressed.
"He imposed on us and I disagree with him coming over here shaking our hands," one of them told reporters afterwards. "I'm 100 percent against" Kerry, he said. "We support our commander-in-chief 100 percent."

Just when I thought I couldn't respect the Marine Corps more than I already do. And this article was from the French Press. It's snowing in hell.
Thanks for the post! I didn't think they looked too happy in the pictures.
Outstanding.
God bless those Marines!
all right!!!!
The Marine's response is so classicly elegant and to the point.
if Kerry should win (god forbid) - there is going to be a massive reduction of re-enlistments and new signups for the US military.
hehehe
Kerry had better NOT approach any more Marines - I surprised they didn't say anything loudly and obviously to him- - -
- - -or the press refused to print what really happened.
**"He imposed on us and I disagree with him coming over here shaking our hands," one of them told reporters afterwards. "I'm 100 percent against" Kerry, he said. "We support our commander-in-chief 100 percent."**
These guys have it right! Bravo!
When has john kerry ever told the truth?
I have a feeling most of the men and women in the Armed Forces feel the same way. I get naucious everytime I see a 'news' story about how our fighting men are upset with Bush and are hoping sKerry wins.

"Do you know who I am??"
No better friend...No worse enemy.
He got off easy. Way easy.
You Marines need to get the word out about what happened!
Oh yeah the Sergeant could do that he was standing at a modified position of attention as was controlling the impulse to break the war criminals finger.
How arrogant the representative of the jackass party.
Looks like he's attempting to dress them down. Another Kerry photo op gone sour. Semper Fi, Marines!
...am guessing that Kerry would never had bothered with the hand shake unless his photographer was 'at the ready' so to speak; photo opps mean everything; while the truth of the encounter probably ended where Kerry's spin began.
That looks like an awfully agressive stance and I don't think I'd be pointing that way at a Marine.
Typical intelleftual elistist bias, portraying the convention result as a coronation. Even were one to use, let's say, a sports metaphor, the crown is not bestowed until November. July is merely the league pennant.
"He imposed on us and I disagree with him coming over here shaking our hands," one of them told reporters afterwards. "I'm 100 percent against" Kerry, he said. "We support our commander-in-chief 100 percent."
Should be "supporters" not "reporters".
Awesome!!! I love these guys!
Too bad the military cannot be granted electoral votes. there is no other group more deserving of a collective voice in whom becomes our commander-in-chief.
The unfortunate thing is that Kerry is still a U.S. Senator so those Marines can't tell him off right then and there.
You could see in the photos that our boys were not impressed with the clown.
I wonder if, in the deepest, darkest, reptillian recesses of his narcissitic soul, he knows how much he is despised by our troops?
FUnny camera shot, it almost looks like Kerry is poking that Marine in the chest, and the Marine about to defend himself as any good marine would do.
I couldn't be more proud of our Marines -- Semper Fi!!!
Semper Fi! The Marines are classier than John F*ckin' who wanted to use them as a political prop for his campaign. They are the true heroes.
That guy deserves a medal for the restraint it took not to break the Senator's "trigger finger".
The look on the Marine's face says 1000 words.
Awesome post.
AMEN. I was just thinking that as I read the article, and I scroll down to see it written out. I am concerned that the "camelion patriotism" displayed at DNC will sway a lot of undecided voters, and some republicans. People do not stop to see that it is a counterfeit. And you can't have a counterfeit lie without the real deal. See my tagline. The devil is a counterfeit God.
I was wondering if there was a definite protocol when uniformed military personnel meet senators & congressmen ?
Absolutely outstanding!!!!!!!!
Now, we can anticipate the dims to attempt to block overseas absentee ballots as they did in 2000.
I doubt it. After his little speech, the sperm thinks he is entitled.

After all the military hullabaloo at his convention, this is just sweet, Heaven-sent, poetic justice!!! Thank you God!
Standing Marine - "Keep pointing that finger at me and you're going to draw back a nub"
After all the military hullabaloo at his convention, this is just sweet, Heaven-sent, poetic justice!!! Thank you God!
If I had been that Marine standing there and F'n Kerry had pointed his finger like that at me, I would have taken it as a threat and broken the thing off!
Looks like the Marine would like to punch Kerry! I guess he isn't buying the band of brothers spiel.
Darn if I knew he was going to be in the area I would have Freeped him!

He's lucky he still has it. And given this shot of Kerry's long fingernails, Kerry is lucky he isn't up on ADW charges.
Exactly what would Kerry expect a Marine in uniform to do? Show disrespect to his Commander-in-Chief or rip Kerry's arm off and shove it up a$$.
Those Marines show real class by respecting Kerry enough
not to say anything when all the while Kerry has
slandered Bush.
