Those members of The Mainstream Coalition need a sermon on
Matt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

They probably believe they're doing "wonderful works". I pity them.

When I was a kid it would have been unheard of for a preacher to preach a sermon on this issue at all. Even the most 'fundy' of fundamentalists would not dream of preaching against sodomy.

Of course they were against it, and it was around somewhere, but why refer to offensive things just to state the obvious? It wasn't a 'fundy' issue, it was obvious.

But here's the thing, Free Excercise Clause jurisprudence has been a sweeping success for those who believe that freedom to worship is only freedom to believe, i.e. you can think it but ya better not take action. Now hopefully, Free Speech coupled with Free Exercise will trump this nonsense, but so far actions (polygomy), have not been upheld by the Supreme Court when it comes to religion. Of course polygomy may be the wave of the future if homosexual marriage is legalized...and it will be. There is no real reason not to legalize homosexual marriage anymore. Once marriage was divorced from the procreative act, the writing was on the wall.

As a pastor of a Church here in Southern California, I would only pray that they would come and monitor my sermons. Yes I definitely preach against Homosexuality, Gay marriage,racism, and all SIN. I say to borrow a phrase from a candidate "bring it on". Of course my retired Marine 1st Sargent, whom is one of my deacons may want to share some of his thoughts then ask his Pastor to pray for him.

I'm glad you do. My pastor and the other priests who help out at our parish also preach that homosexuality is a sin but most Catholic priests and Protestant pastors I have heard don't. In fact they don't preach much about sin at all. They preach about love and acceptance...good things, but they forget to tell their flocks that sin is unacceptable to God. That is not love on their part, it is neglect.
