Letter to send out on Kerry's record

Posted on 07/31/2004 9:16:24 AM PDT by Hillary'sMoralVoid

"Bush was AWOL!!" scream the Democrats. Based on speculation and no hard evidence, the Democrats repeat this matra about something that supposedly happened 30 years ago.

There is a far more contemporary and serious AWOL offense that may tie directly to the terrorism threat we face today that is based on indisputable evidence. From 1993 to 2000, John Kerry was AWOL from the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence almost 80% OF THE TIME! Of 49 open, public hearings of the committee, Kerry attended just 11!

The most notable of those he missed is the June 8, 2000, hearing on the report of the National Commission on Terrorism, which warned about the terrorist threat we now face and recommended numerous steps to address that threat.

Despite his miserable attendence record, he had the gall to propose over $7.5 Billion In Across The Board Cuts To Intelligence Budget, All Of Which Were Rejected By Democrats And Republicans Alike.

In a speech in Cleveland recently, Senator Kerry said: "You're not going to have to look for us on vacation. You're going to find us working for America."

Imagine if your electricity went out, and the repairman failed to show up 80% of the time. Imagine if our military showed up just 80% to fight a war.

Now imagine a commander in chief who cannot find time on his schedule to deal with the important issues of the day, like oversight of the Intelligence Committee.

We do not need an AWOL president.

Okay, that's twice today you've posted data about his attendance at the Senate Select Intelligence Committee. PLEASE POST YOUR SOURCES! I like your attitude but I really wish you'd post your sources before you encourage people to write letters to the editor. If the data can't be verified you're just going to make conservatives look dumb.

I don't have the link that freeper posted but have seen it reported on FNC that Kerry missed all but a handful of open hearings about Intelligence.

"I don't have the link that freeper posted but have seen it reported on FNC that Kerry missed all but a handful of open hearings about Intelligence."

Kerry supporter: "And where did you get Kerry's attendance figures Mr. Bongs?"

Mr. Bongs: "I got them second hand from a guy who saw it on Fox News"

Now THERE'S some research! I thought we could do better than DU.

I don't think that Freeper got it secondhand unless you consider it secondhand to report something reported on Fox News. That's a curious position for a freeper and I have to wonder about your agenda.

Google is a wonderful thing!

This has been all over the NON left wing press.

Here's one link from the Washington Times, also on GWB's web site.

You must be a very lazy, as well as rude, freeper. Two minutes of checking and I found this:

Kerry Was On Senate Select Intelligence Committee For Eight Years (1993-2000).

While On Committee, Kerry Missed 38 Of 49 Intelligence Committee Hearings. During John Kerry's eight years of service on the Senate's Select Committee on Intelligence, there were 49 open, public hearings. Of these 49, John Kerry attended just 11 (22.4%). Among the most notable of those he missed is the June 8, 2000, hearing on the report of the National Commission on Terrorism, which warned about the terrorist threat we now face and recommended numerous steps to address that threat (few of which were adopted prior to 9/11/01).

Thanks! I posted a link too.

We maybe have a closet Kerry supporter onboard since he decided to attack a freeper rather than do a little research about Kerry on his own.

Here's the quote from GWB website:

"The American people would be shocked to know that during the time Senator Kerry served on Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, he missed 38 out of 49 of the public meetings of the committee," he said.

A word of warning I give all Freepers about writing letters to the editor:

Do no post a letter to the editor on FR or anywhere on the internet BEFORE the letter is accepted and printed in a newspaper.

The reason is because editors use the same kind of plagarism software that colleges use. If they see the letter posted on FR, they will assume you did NOT write it but plagarized it from the internet.

This happened to me when I wrote a letter to the editor about the economy. I posted the letter on FR before it was published and a very nice editor e-mailed me they could not accept my letter. I tried to explain that I was Peach and it was my letter he was reading on FR, but he had no way of verifying that.

It's a commonly used software system so I encourage you to only post letters after they have been printed in the newspaper.

"I don't think that Freeper got it secondhand unless you consider it secondhand to report something reported on Fox News."

I wouldn't be caught dead repeating unsubstantiated information to a newspaper editor. Why risk making a mistake for the left to ridicule? When was it on Fox? Who's show?

"That's a curious position for a freeper and I have to wonder about your agenda"

You sound paranoid. You can wonder all you like but I have to wonder about the "agenda" of someone who exhorts people to write letters without source data. I would also wonder about the "agenda" of someone who questions people who are merely seeking factual information. Repeating rumor is the specialty of the collectivists.

Two seconds of searching found links provided above that substantiate this freeper's comments.

And, by the way, if you ever decide to write a letter to the editor, it's "whose show", not "who's show" :-)

We do not need an AWOL president.

Kerry was more enamored with being a senator than actully doing the work of a senator. He missed Senate commitee meetings, he missed Senate votes and he's even been criticized by his own Democratic supporters, including those in the media, for taking too much time off from the campaign.

Let's now kid ourselves. Kerry is lazy. He may not have been in Vietnam but he is now. In fact the only time he wasn't lazy was when he was pursuing his meal ticket wife. He has accomplished little not only in his senatorial career but, short of Vietnam, in his personal life as well. Sure, he led the charge against the war once he returned but he was a failure as a businessman. It's interesting that people who can't find success in the private sector tend to flock to the public sector as a means of support.

In fact his only real accomplishment has been in his role as "John Kerry, Male Gigolo" where he successfully married a millionairess who had money she never earned. It appears they are very much alike, both capable of picking the bones of a dead man for their own affluence. Isn't it funny that even he realized government couldn't provide everthing he needed so he set about finding an alternative. And rather than work for it himself, aside from occasional political campaigns, he chose to attain wealth like a common parasite.

This clown is truly a dispicable slime...

Hope this helps!

Yeah, and becoming a qualified fighter jet pilot by not participating is possible. Maybe they equate it to Kerry's jungle battle with a wonded enemy. Gosh, do the CRATS ever grow up?
