BEREA, Ohio - On a campaign trip through Ohio on Saturday, President Bush made an unscheduled stop for a game of catch with the Cleveland Browns.
Bush visited the Browns training facility, where he was escorted by coach Butch Davis and the team's new quarterback, Jeff Garcia.
Speaking about offensive tackle Ryan Tucker, Bush cracked: "He went to the same high school as my wife, but he's not as good-looking."
Laura Bush and Tucker went to Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, Texas, and Tucker played football at Texas Christian University.
As he prepared to leave, Bush told the squad: "Go get 'em."
Politically speaking, the Bush campaign probably figured the quick stop might do the president some good in another crucial swing state Florida.
Television and newspaper coverage will show Bush with Davis, who went 51-20 record in six years as head coach at the University of Miami, including an 11-1 record in 2000 when the Hurricanes finished second in the nation.
Would you call this "brown nosing"?
Al Lerner, staunch Republican and proud Marine bump.
Did Garcia try to give him a Lewinsky?
Gee, the AP just had to bring our attention to what might be the "political" movtivation behind this stop. Could it possibly be because the President loves sports including football and wanted to stop off and see the team? God, I hate the media. This line would never have been included if it had been Kerry that had stopped there!
Well, if you had the ability to just drop in at the ball park, why not?
Beats pointin' your finger at a couple of Marines trying to eat lunch!
Would you believe that MSNBC showed the picture of Kerry standing at the Marine's table but also mentioned they were Bush supporters!
Darn, he's just having too much fun!!! <|:-)~~
Who cares if there is a political motivation. If America wants to know who the best candidate is, this is what you have to do. He has to be seen in arenas like this.
Big contrast when you see the players think this is special that he came by and yesterday Kerry goes up to some Marines and they don't even want to talk to him.
THAT's the problem Wait4Truth...........that they say it here, but wouldn't say it for Kerry.
BUT........the pictures speak more loudly than the words.
When people see these pictures, they'll know that the President loves sports, and is a good guy having fun.
I hope our local paper has one of them in........though I'm not holding my breath........
That was a comparison I had made in my mind.... Didn't have the picture to go with it.... thanks.
Tell you what - it means absolutely nothing in the big scheme of things, but Bush DOES look comfortable out there, doesn't he?
While I don't think any political gain is realized from this visit, I am glad the President keeps coming back to Ohio.
That said.....FOOTBALL IS BACK!!!!!
Yeeeeeehaaaaaaaw!
Go Bengals!
(yeah, I know, smirk if you gotten em......LOL)
CNN did the same thing! I was stunned, told the whole story about how the Marines did not appreciate Kerry interrupting their lunch, and they were behind Bush 100%. This on CNN! Shocking!!!!!
Yep! They just don't get it. To them that was a non-partisan report because the Marines were Bush supporters.
To the rest of us it's a power play over a couple guys trying to eat.
but Bush DOES look comfortable out there, doesn't he?
ROTFLMAO
WHO......are the Bengals?? ;o)

I think Kerry needs to be instructed that it helps to keep his eyes open........
They must be tired of their low market share.
"WHO......are the Bengals?? ;o)"
I know, I know....its been a very long time since we had a professional team. Nobody knows it better than I.
We came one game short of making the playoffs last year, which is one heck of a dramatic improvement, given the "lost decade" preceeding.
Palmer is looking sharp according to all reports, from players to news crews - who have no love of the Brown family's operation of the franchise and are accordingly "jaded" btw. We've improved the defense, dramatically improved "team speed" overall.
We will be in the hunt for the Division title this year.
Thats good enough for me.
Not only does he look comfortable, look at the guys around him. Most are smiling and relaxed.
Some of the looks on the faces of people around Kerry are almost scarier than his... a Kerry's scaries carries kinda thing! :)
And Kerry always comes off as awkward in similar situations.
Bush is SO COOL!! He can throw the football like a REAL MAN. I'd love to see Kerry try it, he looked like a real GIRLY MAN when throwing out the first pitch at the Red Sox game.
Those two pictures side by side could be used to explain both their outlooks on politics and probably life itself.
Bush is at the ready, already having judged the speed and trajectory of the ball it will land in his grasp.
Hanoi on the other hand is lost, befuddled and gets wacked in the head. He misjudged the ball because he has the reflexes of a frog and the judgement of a headless chicken.
"Go Bengals!"
Go Chiefs!!!! :)
Dear Skerry,
You can't catch what you ain't lookin' at. And I don't just mean football, son...
Coach EZ
Well the Bengals do have some of the best helmets in the league.
""Go Bengals!"
Go Chiefs!!!! :)"
I'm a big fan of the Chiefs and Vermeil in particular.
That said, loved last years game between our respective teams.....(grin)
That was the game that notified the NFL the Bengals were back!
He is having fun! Isn't he great?
He looks good, no matter when he goes!
God Bless our President!
BUSH/CHENEY 2004
"Well the Bengals do have some of the best helmets in the league."
True, but the problem for the last decade is that they never had a mark on them at the end of the year......LOL!
I'm really pumped up for the coming year. This will be the first time my wife and I haven't had to pick teams to follow due to the lack of a professional team here in southern Ohio.

I hate the media...they always have some snide remark to make about the President. Actually, this one is quite mild compared to many others. One thing I noticed in reading articles about Kerry's PA campaign stop - the liberal media said Kerry had 25-30 thousand people. The local media and cops estimated it as between 8-15 thousand. I remember one Bush rally in 2000 here - we had 20,000 people for Bush with others lined up around the block that couldn't get it but my liberal rag of a paper called it "several thousand".
I think the media knows that Kerry/Edwards is a sinking ship. It won't be too long before they begin to question whether Kerry is the right man, tout Dean (or Hillary), and make this an even bigger mess than it already is.
Gee, a campaign stop with political intentions, imagine that.
I suppose the Kerry campaign never thought of doing that, huh?
Big Browns Fan BUMP.
*big Browns and Bush ping* to Dave and con...please ping your NE Ohio/Browns (?) lists!!
I wonder if anyone here has seen footage of the President throwing the pigskin? I haven't, but I'd bet my kidneys that it stands in stark contrast to Kerry's attempt to throw a baseball.
Being a Berean myself (in fact, I think it's a command), it would be fun if the press would ask Kerry (the Catholic) or Edwards (the Methodist?) that question should they visit that lovely town in Ohio. But, then, that would require something more than the biblically illiterate media that we have in this country.
Wonder if the media is mentioning that they were marines in the hopes of getting them in trouble.

Edwards looks like John Ritter's character "Jack Tripper" in "Three's Company." Kerry looks like "Lurch."
Re post 47: The two guys on the right are saying "Hey, there goes Air Force One. Man, don't you wish we were Republicans right now?!"
Go Browns!!!!!
GO BUSH!Yeah BA-by!
