John Kerry's leadership - FOUR bills passed in 19 years. (4 resolutions as well)
Thomas ^ | 8-1-04 | John Kerry

Posted on 07/31/2004 11:18:57 PM PDT by Dan from Michigan

I went to the Thomas website to see how much of a "leader" John Kerry is. He doesn't get many bills passed. 4 Bills and 4 Resolutions in 20 years. That's less than one every session of congress. He certainly doesn't take the lead on issues. Let's take a long at his most important achievements.

S.J.RES.158 - 6-16-1989(Day Introduced)
Title: A joint resolution designating October 22 through 28, 1989, as "World Population Awareness Week".

Wow....his very first thing of anything passed.....

S.J.RES.160 - 6-13-1991
Title: A joint resolution designating the week beginning October 20, 1991, as "World Population Awareness Week".

There's number 2......Same thing.

S.J.RES.318 - 6-18-92
Title: A joint resolution designating November 13, 1992, as "Vietnam Veterans Memorial 10th Anniversary Day".

That's 3, and unfortunatly he did the honors there.

S.J.RES.337 - 9-15-1992
Title: A joint resolution designating September 18, 1992, as "National POW/MIA Recognition Day", and authorizing display of the National League of Families POW/MIA flag.

That's resolution number 4.

S.1563 - 7-25-1991
Title: A bill to authorize appropriations to carry out the National Sea Grant College Program Act, and for other purposes.
His first bill that was signed into law...7 years after he won his first election.

S.1206 - 7-1-1993
Title: A bill to redesignate the Federal building located at 380 Trapelo Road in Waltham, Massachusetts, as the "Frederick C. Murphy Federal Center".

That's the 2nd bill that was passed.....

S.1636 - 11-8-93
Title: A bill to authorize appropriations for the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972 and to improve the program to reduce the incidental taking of marine mammals during the course of commercial fishing operations, and for other purposes.
Save the whales?

S791 - 4-14-1999
Title: A bill to amend the Small Business Act with respect to the women's business center program
And that's the last bill he got signed into law.

What a great record of leadership. 4 resolutions and 4 bills in a 20 year period. No wonder he isn't running on his poor senate record.

My state rep is a first term legislator. In TWO years, he has THREE bills passed into law already. One to require cities to notify residents for annexation. One on agribusiness permits(Agriculture is his background), and an election consulidation bill. One more and he ties John Kerry.

My former state rep is also a first termer(I moved out of his district). He's beaten John Kerry already - had 15 bills signed into law. Most of them dealing with local elections.

Are these bills he penned or bills that he was a co-sponsor on. If it's the latter, that's really pathetic.

These are the ones he's pinned. I didn't include cosponsor since oftentimes reps cosponsor a bill right before it passes to look good.

Ordinarily, this is a record I would admire. If all legislators were like this, our government would be smaller and more constitutional.

Looks like he sponsored 48 and co-sponsored 449.

Let's see in 20 years flip-flop has penned 8 whole bills (0.4 per year), sponsored 48 (2.4 per year), and cosponsored 449(22.45 per year). I wonder if there's a single senator who has the tenure in the Senate that Kerry does who has done less. I don't even think KKK Byrd has that abysmal a record.

3 of his 4 bills that were passed into law were during the timeframe when Democrats controlled the House, Senate, and Presidency...in other words, he had no organized opposition to anything of his dreams.

He's insignificant, save for his first job out of college more than 3 decades ago (you know, Vietnam), his backer Ted Kennedy, and his wife's money.

He's got no gravitas.

Here's something interesting. Kerry from 1984 until 2003, Kerry has taken approximately $2,360,000 from the American taxpayers in the form of his base salary. But has managed to author only eight measley pieces of legislation. That comes out to $295,000 a bill.

This doesn't even include any leadership or committee stipends that Kerry may have received. Talk about the overpriced toilet seat over at the DoD.

I have to argue with you on that one. Thanks to his efforts, I am aware that the world indeed has a population. But I do think a whole week and two bills are a bit excessive to make that point.

Whoops. I forgot to add 1988's salary of $89,500.

From 1984 until 2004, Kerry has taken approximately $2,450,000 from the American taxpayers in the form of his base salary while allegedlt working for us in the Senate. But he has managed to author only eight measley pieces of legislation. Tha comes out to $306,250 per bill.

I would like a rule that legislators would be required to read the bills they are voting on. Hardly any of them do, and yet they make grandiose speeches for or against them like they actually know what the bills say. If they had to read the bills, we could limit the legislation passed in each session to a few thousand pages.

I been reading the tea leaves dan.

Dufus is over.
The dead rat bounce... will push kerry and his rat followers to increasingly turn up the volume of their smear and attack campaign. Go negative after such a positive convention?
hell yes.

the "positive thing" did NOT work.
and the "negative attack" thing will backfire as they increasingly accuse this president of treason, war crimes, stupidity and economic failure...

the nation has already begun to turn away from the vomitous mass of crap that IS the Democratic party.

BUSH will play some of the hardest political ball in history with the dems and their wild eyed nutcakes... AFTER this election. The Senate "stop all judges" game... is over. Cheney will personally supervise the change in the rules of the Senate by a simple majority vote. Judges, and other officials will be stocked and vetted in record numbers and the democrap machine will be sent in pieces and parts far flung afield. some will go to jail. some will not meet with good ends of their own accord.

Kerry will cost the dems even more seats in the house than they have already acknowleged they might lose.

McAuliffe and Clinton crime syndicate... may be REALLY surprised at how the "softer tone" turns to concrete AFTER there is no more "reelection" to worry about.

The clinton legacy is going to face some REAL purging.

Good research. This is the kind of thing that needs to be reported over and over.

Per various radio and news talk, Kerry introduced a bill that would have gutted Intel services of $Billions. It was so bad that even Ted Kennedy voted against it.

That could be interesting research: bills Kerry authored or co-authored that failed. [Would any kind of pattern develop? It would be interesting to see what he supported but the Senate majority did not pass.]

This could be an interesting comparison:

Kerry supports and passed legislation vs Kerry supported and failed legislation.

This info is what has to be pounded out the the American people on a daily basis. Twenty years in the Senate and Kerry didn't do squat. Forty Eight Intelligence Committee meetings and he didnt show up for 38 of them. This from a candidate who is concerned about national security. Somebody in the GOP needs to get off their ass and start earning their money. I know it is early but I think they can deliver the knockout blow to these Bozos before Labor Day.

The obvious question that comes to mind after seeing this pathetic record of non-achievement is, "What the ()^%$# was he doing 8 hours per day for all those years?" THESE bills bear his name:

In 1994, Senator Kerry sponsored Deficit Reduction Act of 1994 S.1826 (the 103rd Congress), pulling billions of funding for Intelligence and key defense programs in 1994 and then killing the programs outright in subsequent years. It is right there in the Congressional Record. See for yourself. Just a perusal of the bill's sections is enough to make you realize this guy is the most dangerous man in America. He tried to pull $1 BILLION out of intelligence (Sec. 301) and PROHIBIT increases for the next 4 years (Sec. 1301)

In 2002 he filed 5 consecutively numbered bills in the Senate all with substantially the same title "To provide for the liquidation or reliquidation of certain entries of tomato sauce preparation." S. 2378 - 2382, 107th Congress. Tell me this wasn't some sort of conflict of interest! What's he doing legislating for the missus?

Thank GOD he only passed 4 bills in his sorry tenure as Senator.
