Wow, I never thought news of this would make it to FR. But my sister-in-law does indeed scate for these very Putas del Fuego and has been involved with this from its start. T-shirts are available. ;-)
Lazamataz - be very careful what you wish for. But if you insist, I can perhaps setup a ravaging.

It was the Rhinestone Cowgirls Vs. Hellcats last night. Hellcats won.
IMO, Witch Baby of the Rhinestones won my own personal "Best Legs" award. With the boots she was wearing, not skates, she had to be close to 7' tall. Lunachick of the Hellcats could really SKATE. Holy crap was she fast...

I've just forwarded your info to one that I thought would really mesh with a FReeper...

Maiking it to FR wasn't the hard part--getting in the NY Times was tough!

Oops, I stand corrected. My sis-in-law is no longer a puta del fuego. In the infamous league split (and honestly, doesn't any city need at least two roller derby leagues?), she went to the other league (
http://www.txrollergirls.com/) and is now a Hell Mary.
The world of roller derby moves too fast for any normal person to keep up.

Haven't checked the other League out yet. This was my first TXRD event. I may check 'em both out.

I would note that my Rollerblades, with their purple accents, don't exactly match my leathers. Why, exactly, is that a problem? These ... ummm ... ladies ... (yeah!) don't seem too concerned with such trivia.
