they should have got an organized surrender out of the iraqis instead of letting them melt into the population.

that way, we would have just had a few foreign insurgents on the street to deal with.

Thanks for the welcome. Yeah, longtime lurker. I've signed on before, but I can't remember what name I used let alone any passwords.

"Leaning toward voting for Bush"? If the opponent had been someone like Lieberman, I could accept that as a possible Republican response. But when the candidate is Kerry with Edwards as VP, I don't buy it.
Only a Democrat would say anything other than "I'm going to do everything I can to re-elect Bush/Cheney".

The differences are too sharp for anyone other than a dolt to not notice. (And, no, I'm not calling Libs dolts. I'm just saying that people who don't notice the differences are either not paying attention or are dolts.)

I doubt there was the time to do what you are suggesting. Our US forces moved faster than any army in history to accomplish the goal of defeating the Iraqis. Franks mentions his saving the oil fields and other things that only happened because of that speed.

Remembering some of the reports at the time, there was good reason to believe massive numbers would surrender because they did not really want to serve Saddam, but were forced to. That was one of the reasons the army and marines bypassed many cities to move faster on other targets.

I agree it's too bad so many of the enemy were able to blend back into the civilian population but I think I can understand the reasons why that was allowed to happen.

WHEN DID YOU STOP BEATING YOUR WIFE?

For the life of me, I cannot understand why Franks did not challenge the premise of nearly every one of these question from an obviously biased "reporter". Possible reasons:

Maybe he did. Maybe Time conveniently omitted that part.

Maybe Franks was more interested in getting some free publicity for his book in a high circulation newsrag.

My feelings were hurt that I was not invited to the Democratic National Convention.

I took this as sarcasm, given what we and the Genreal knew to be the opinions of the vast majority of delegates regarding the war.

WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO APPROACH OSCAR MAYER WITH YOUR IDEA FOR A NEW HOT DOG LINE CALLED "TOMMY FRANKS"?

i don't like how he blames rumsfeld in his book.

Instead of talkign about politics, i would rather he addressed military issues like how did the iraqi army melt into the population and why couldnt an orderly surrender be implemented.

In my opinion, stuff coming from franks should have focused on military lessons learnt.

Stuff that could have helped us in future wars

Like how to get an orderly surrender from the enemy in future wars.

OMG! I am stuck in India for work watching Tommy Franks ABSOLUTLELY HUMILITATING the BBC reporter. She is desperately trying to call him out on countless crapola charges and he is UTTERLY humiliating her!

FRANKS FOR PRESIDENT 08!
