'Shove it' still reverberating
Washington Times ^ | 8/03/04 | Jennifer Harper

Posted on 08/02/2004 9:47:20 PM PDT by kattracks

Teresa Heinz Kerry's "shove it" phrase to a Pittsburgh editor was the most cited Kerry campaign message in the press last week — mentioned 381 times in American publications, according to Factiva, a Dow Jones/Reuters company that tracks daily press mentions.
But the two words also brought death threats, insults and accusations upon Colin McNickle, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review editorial-page editor who vexed Mrs. Kerry by asking her to explain her claim that "un-American traits" were emerging in politics.

[snip]

In a Boston Globe interview, singer Patti LaBelle advised Mrs. Kerry to "pimp slap" Mr. McNickle; liberal columnist Molly Ivins suggested he had inappropriately "touched" Mrs. Kerry; and former Baltimore Sun columnist Jack Germond told CNN that Mr. McNickle "was not a legitimate newspaperman."
He responded in a Tribune-Review column Sunday, explaining he was only seeking an example of "un-American traits" from Mrs. Kerry, but "I got a finger in the face and was told to 'shove it.' I have been told worse things by more important people."
A mention of Mr. McNickle's column in Editor & Publisher was picked up by the Drudge Report yesterday, ultimately reversing the firestorm of criticism, Mr. McNickle said.
"Today, I got 1,700 e-mails in four hours, most supportive, saying I'd done a good job," Mr. McNickle said.
"But you know what?" he pointed out. "Mrs. Kerry never answered my question."

>>sissy husband.

Sissy husband is right! That really SHOULD knock him down
a few points! She clearly mis-spoke, and wouldn't apologize.

Kerry did not 'take command' of the situation, even the
next day, after it was clear that Lovey had chewed the guy out
in error.

Edwards has obviously gotten more lovin' from the Hanoi Hamster than Teresa has seen in their entire marriage.
No wonder the poor woman is so bitter.

John and Teresa= Bill and Hillary. Birds of a feather.
I can easily picture Kerry saying words to the effect of "That all depends on what the meaning of the word 'is'
is." Denying, parsing words, changing the subject.

Maybe when the inevitable sit-down interview of Teresa comes a reporter can ask her, "You definitely did say
'un-American' even though you deny saying it to this
reporter numerous times. We have it on tape. Do you have anything to say about that?" Of course that will never happen, because Teresa will only allow herself to be interviewed by kissing-up liberals. How long till they do the sit-down with her on 60 Minutes, or did it already happen?

Did you hear about Judy Collins lecturing her audience to vote for Kerry and give him money? Was mentioned on Drudge this week.

"Death threats for merely asking a (legitimate) question. I would say this is unbelievable, but alas it's all too believable."

. . .and making it perhaps even worse; the offending question wrapped in one word - 'un-American'.

And the offending Liberal responses demonstratiang precisely that.

Reporter who questioned Teresa gets death threats
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | Tuesday, August 3, 2004

Posted on 08/02/2004 11:21:09 PM PDT by JohnHuang2

The journalist whom Teresa Heinz Kerry told to "shove it" after rejecting a question he asked her after a speech says he has received death threats in the aftermath of the incident.

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review editorial page editor and columnist Colin McNickle says the reports of the confrontation with the wife of Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry were used by liberals to "demonize not only me but the Trib," he wrote in a column yesterday.

Teresa Heinz Kerry

As WorldNetDaily reported, in a speech July 25 to her home-state delegates to the Democratic National Convention, Heinz Kerry used the term "un-American" to describe the sometimes harsh rhetoric used.

Minutes later, when McNickle asked her what she meant by the term "un-American," Kerry turned angry.

"I didn't say that," she said. "You're putting words in my mouth. I didn't say that."

After conferring with Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell and others, Kerry then returned to confront McNickle.

"Are you from the Tribune-Review?" she asked.

"Yes," replies McNickle.

"I thought so," she said. "You said something I didn't say. Now shove it."

Ironically, the confrontation came immediately following an even-toned speech by Mrs. Kerry to the Pennsylvania delegation – the first to be visited by the wife of presumptive Democratic nominee – about returning civility to American politics. Kerry's comment was caught on videotape.

"We need to turn back some of the creeping, un-Pennsylvanian – and sometimes un-American – traits that are coming into some of our politics," she told her fellow Pennsylvanians at a reception at the Massachusetts Statehouse.

McNickle wrote that "'Right-wing rag' became the pejorative du jour, vomited repeatedly by liberal media elitists" to describe his paper.

The editor quoted some of the invective that had been sent to him via e-mail:

"'I hope you burn in hell,' read one e-mail. 'You're a (expletive) Nazi,' went another. 'Teresa should have told you to go (expletive) yourself,' another friendly e-mailer offered. And these were among the milder communiques; those that included death threats will be forwarded to the senders' respective hometown police departments.

"One of my daughters back in Pittsburgh was brought to tears by a caller to our house. The clever woman identified herself as a Washington reporter seeking to interview me but then embarked on a filthy tirade. It seems a member of the Heinz Kerry Civility Enforcement Patrol posted our home address and telephone number on the response part of my convention blog."

As for the "shove it" comment, McNickle wrote: "I have been told worse things by more important people."

but alas it's all too believable.

*****************************

Profile of a Sociopath

A number of mind-manipulating cult leaders may exhibit many of the behavioral characteristics of a sociopath--an outstanding ability to charm and seduce followers. Since they appear apparently normal, they are not easily recognizable as deviant or disturbed. Although only a trained professional can make a diagnosis, it is important to be able to recognize the personality type in order to avoid further abuse. These traits also apply to a one-on-one cultic relationship.

Glibness/Superficial Charm Language can be used without effort by them to confuse and convince their audience. Captivating storytellers that exude self-confidence, they can spin a web that intrigues others. Since they are persuasive, they have the capacity to destroy their critics verbally or emotionally.

Manipulative and Conning They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They dominate and humiliate their victims.

Grandiose Sense of Self Feels entitled to certain things as "their right." Craves adulation and attendance. Must be the center of attention with their own fantasies as the "spokesman for God," "enlightened," "leader of humankind," etc. Creates an us-versus-them mentality

Pathological Lying Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and able to pass lie detector tests.

Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.

Shallow Emotions When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion, it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their promises.

Incapacity for Love While they talk about "God's love" they are unable to give or receive it. Since they do not believe in the genuineness of their followers' love, they are very harsh in testing it from their devotees and expect them to feel guilt for their failings. Expects unconditional surrender.

Need for Stimulation Living on the edge, yet testing the beliefs of their followers with bizarre rules, punishments and behaviors. Verbal outbursts and physical punishments are normal.

Callousness/Lack of Empathy Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others' feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them. Their skills are used to exploit, abuse and exert power. Since the follower cannot believe their leader would callously hurt them, they rationalize the behavior as necessary for their (or the group's) own "good" and deny the abuse. When devotees become aware of the exploitation it feels like a "spiritual rape" to them.

Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of love and approval produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. Believe they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others. The followers only see them as near perfect.

Early Behavior Problems/Juvenile Delinquency Usually has a history of behavioral and academic difficulties, yet "gets by" by conning others. Problems in making and keeping friends; aberrant behaviors such as cruelty to people or animals, stealing, etc.

Irresponsibility/Unreliability Not concerned about wrecking others' lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blame their followers or others outside their group. Blame reinforces passivity and obedience and produces guilt, shame, terror and conformity in the followers.

Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity Totalist leaders frequently practice promiscuity, child sexual abuse, rape and sexual acting out of all sorts. This is usually kept hidden from all but the inner circle. Stringent sexual control of their followers, such as forced breakups and divorces, removal of children from parents, rules for dating, etc.

Lack of Realistic Life Plan/Parasitic Lifestyle Tends to move around a lot or makes all encompassing promises for the future. Many groups claim as their goal world-domination or other utopian promises. Great contrast between the leader's opulent lifestyle and the followers' impoverishment. Support by gifts and donations from the followers who are pressured to give through fear and guilt. Highly sensitive to their own pain and health.

Criminal or Entrepreneurial Versatility Changes their image and that of the group as needed to avoid prosecution and to increase income and to recruit a range of members. Is able to adapt or relocate as needed to preserve the group. Can resurface later with a new name, a new front group and a new twist on the scam.

Other Related Qualities:

1. Contemptuous of those who seek to understand them

2. Does not perceive that anything is wrong with them

3. Authoritarian

4. Secretive

5. Paranoid

6. Only rarely in difficulty with the law, but seeks out situations where their tyrannical behavior will be tolerated, condoned, or admired

7. Conventional appearance

8. Goal of enslavement of their victim(s)

9. Exercises despotic control over every aspect of the victim's life

10. Has an emotional need to justify their crimes and therefore needs their victim's affirmation (respect, gratitude and love)

11. Ultimate goal is the creation of a willing victim

12. Incapable of real human attachment to another

13. Unable to feel remorse or guilt

14. Extreme narcissism and grandiose

15. May state readily that their goal is to rule the world

The above traits are based on the psychopathy checklists of H. Cleckley and R. Hare.

Fit's `em to a "t"

NOTE: In the 1830's this disorder was called "moral insanity." By 1900 it was changed to "psychopathic personality." More recently it has been termed "antisocial personality disorder."

Now? just call them "liberal."

In Milwaukee, Mrs Heinz Kerry responded to a group armed with flip flops and calling for "4 More Years" by saying "they want 4 more years of Hell!"

Mr. Kerry said, "She speaks her mind and she speaks the truth."

So much for Mr. Kerry's positive campaign.

My aunt recieved a Kerry/Edwards fundraising letter that, while a Democrat, she wasn't ABOUT to send in a nickle.

After all, a Billionaire (husband) Presidential candidate and a multi-millionaire trial lawyer running mate shouldn't NEED a nickle from anyone. I told her that I'd handle the fundraising response for her...

On the "$ OTHER" line for amounts in excess of the ones they'd listed, I wrote in "SHOVE IT!"
