Bush and Kerry will attend events just blocks away from each other in Iowa on Wednesday, campaign sources reveal. The two will be so close, crowds will overlap! Kerry will begin at 10 am at the Davenport RiverCenter. During the same hour, Bush will hold a rally at LeClaire Park -- just three blocks away on the banks of the Mississippi River... It was not immediatly clear which campaign followed the other. One top Bush source claims the president's Davenport event was set -- and Kerry changed his schedule... Kerry's campaign points to Bush's recent, many visits to the state as a sign that Bush is having trouble there... Developing...

Iowa is a blue state, went Democratic the last three presidential elections. The fact that both sides are fighting so hard on Kerry's turf is an indication that Kerry's in trouble, not Bush.

Also interesting is that it's a border city, bordering on Illinois, which just about everyone is conceding to Kerry. Perhaps Bush sees a chance to make things a bit more difficult for Kerry in Illinois.

I predict that many in the Kerry crowd will leave to heckle Bush. Whereas the Bush people will actually listen to their candidate.

Boy kerry looks like an idiot. The really interesting pictures though, will be of the "dueling supporters". I'd bet that the Bush supporters will be happy, positive people who take pride in their persons, and the Kerry supporters will be a bunch of slobs spewing vitriole.

That's Just a guess of course.

Iowa voters are politically schizophrenic...please explain to me how the same voters elect, and keep on re-electing Grasseley AND Harkin? That's the oddest pair of senators from the same state..

I can see the two crowds backing into each other, a boom box starts playing the fight theme from West Side Story...It's going to be a complete re-enactment of the Newhart episode with the gang fight.

Back in 1896, my little town of Roland, Iowa, in the dead center of the state, had the two main presidential candidates show up in town on the same day in October right before the election.

Both McKinley and William Jennings Bryan made stops in the town. For whatever reason, their trains took them through here. This is strange enough that a relatively big metro area like the Quad Cities, gets both main candidates in August. Little Roland in podink nowhere had 2 main candidates in October. Of course, times have changed some since then.......

The photos from Davenport tomorrow should have a real tale to tell. It's only about an hour from me and I so want to be there, even if I can't get tickets to hear the President speak.

I think it's telling that Kerry has to attempt to distract voters by rearranging his schedule so as to be there a half hour before the President speaks. And what the heck kind of "economic summit" did Kerry's people throw together as an after-thought? Geez. Will post photos if I can make it!!

The fact that both sides are fighting so hard on Kerry's turf is an indication that Kerry's in trouble, not Bush.

On the other hand, Bush is the incumbent, and Kerry should be a McGovern-like pushover.

The local news in DSM just aired a Club for Growth commercial that depicted Kerry's head as a weather vane. It was spinning as the narrator talked about Kerry's stands on various issues. Very clever. It ends up with a comment about him going whichever way the wind blows.

I've long wondered that, too. The only possible explanation I can muster comes from looking at the one area where they vote alike (instead of cancelling out each other's vote): Agricultural Issues. Each senator has amassed a lot of power during his tenure, and I can only guess there are a lot of voters who recognize that and cast their votes based on farm-economy issues.

Another explanation is that 30% of the people who show up to vote are totally clueless about the fact that these two senators are politically polar opposites. I can't buy that. Iowans are both older and smarter than the average nincompoop.

Be sure to report if GW ORDERED you there. After all you are one of those GOP Goons.

Rush missed the opportunity to ask that of the guy who called in from the 'goon' rally.

Here is the story board for a Kerry Commercial I want to see.

Kerry 2004

I want to be the President,
Though all know I can’t lead.
I really want the power though,
It’s really what I need.

I’ll lie and cheat and fabricate,
I’ll flip and flop for sure.
The left’s so dumb they’ll vote for me,
For stupid, there’s no cure.

George Bush lied, I’ll chant and sing,
Though I know it’s not true.
I love America I’ll say,
Another lie for you.

I’ll back the UN’s global push,
No sovereignty for us.
The world rides free at our expense,
We’ll even buy the bus.

Let terror rain down on this land,
We really are to blame.
Oh yes, I fought in Viet Nam,
Four months, then home I came.

Three Purple Hearts for paper cuts,
Like some rite of passage.
You bet my name’s John Kerry,
And I approve this message.

I absolutely HAVE, as a registered goon, been ordered to be there! As a matter of fact, the black helicopters are going to pick me up in the morning to ensure my attendance...;)

From Rasmussen....
July 8, 2004--In Iowa, President Bush has gained ground over the past month but still trails Senator Kerry 48% to 44%. Our last Iowa survey found Kerry leading by eight percentage points, 49% to 41%.

Kerry has got much trouble. Defending Iowa, New Jersey.....Battelgrounds are moving.
