Grrrrrr. People keep getting it wrong. The amendment would not ban gay marriage. If two homosexuals would like to have a marriage ceremony, and if they can find a leftist clergy member willing to perform the ceremony, they will be free to do so. The amendment would not ban gay marriage, as it shouldn't because that is a purely private religious matter.

The amendment would ban using the police power of the state, that is physical force, to require others to legally recognize the marriage contract in their dealings with the two people involved.

Technicaly correctimundo.
But it would have the practical effect of "banning" mo marriages because there would be no incentive to have one. Its the incentives: taxes, social security benefits and the rest that are driving this insidious and odious nonsense.
The ammendment proposed to the US Constitution was indeed to recognize that marriage was to be recognized [legally] as being only between a man and a woman.
You can live anyway you want and, short of human sacrifice, can pursue any religious practise you want.
The proposed ammendments don't change that but there has to be a workable antidote to the full faith and credit clause which would force other states to recognize the legality of mo marriages.

Personally, I think they all suck, except for 48-UPN News (the Fox News Channel of local broadcasters). The orgasms that Fox 8, News 2, and WXII-12 have had over John Edwards over the last year is sickening.

Saundra Hughes must be a million years old. I was working at Moses Cone in the 70's when she was in having surgery.

I see her in the grocery store sometimes. She prances around like royalty, given that Lee Kinard was her mentor its understandable.

I used to live next door to his son and had no clue who Lee Kinard was at the time I met him during a cookout....I introduced myself to him and he just stared at me like a deer in the headlights when I asked him his name...as if I should have known already.

Lee was really nice but I think he didn't have a clue. By the time he retired, no one could pick him out of a lineup. But I'm thinking he still saw himself as a celebrity as he was in the 60's and 70's.

I'm not sure I could pick Hughes out of a crowd at the downtown Farmers Market. Oddly, every time I go to Gboro, I spot someone at that thing.

Hey, does NC have tax amnesty before school starts?

No I do not aprove of a Constitutional Amendment banning gay marriage, and it really makes me angry that Bush and other so called 'conservatives' would even consider changing the Constitution over this issue.
