Fine Jefferson City Dining for the Kerry's
Self ^ | August 3, 2004 | self

Posted on 08/03/2004 9:23:21 AM PDT by Nachum

Senator Kerry, as your tour over "Flyover Country" continues, it must be really hard on your stomachs. You and the missus are used to the finest cuisine and now have to look like you are eating like the locals. All the little people are so impressed! I know you must have been embarassed by the revelation that you ate on the bus at stop and threw the local food in the garbage. We all saw that you really didn't eat at Wendy's. I mean, everyone thought you were eating at Wendy's, but then you had some take out at a more "substantial" place for some decent food. I know that a wealthy "Uber" class person such as yourself wants to really eat the way you are used to. So, as a service to your campaign, I am doing a little research on your next pitstop on the way to the White House.

After a little more research, it seems that the best restaurant at your next stop in Jefferson City seems to be a place called Madison's Café. It has a 3 star review it should make for a decent meal after pretending to eat at some dumpy Missouri ham 'n egger. Look, you have to take a bite at Wendy's or at Philly cheese steak stand, but then you have to really eat.

Here is the address:

216 Madison Street
Jefferson City, Missouri 65101-3230
573.634.2988

Your palates shouldn't suffer while you are out on the stump to gain the office you so richly deserve. -And if it costs a little more so what, the campaign is paying for it anyway.

Just trying to help.

Is Madison's Cafe like the rest of Jefferson City's restaurants?

No Smoking allowed!

On top of which, Teresa did not know what Chili is? How far up ones own arse does one have to be to not know what Chili is?

So I guess if Kerry wins the election, it's no more peanut butter and jelly with milk on Airforce One? The press corps love to be dined extravagantly and that was one of the reasons the press so wildly loved Clinton. If Helen Thomas gets peanut butter and jelly, don't expect her to write kindly about Bush. Maureen Dowd likes her duck pate' and sea urchin sushi in order to get any decent story printed.

Washington is an overflowing feed lot full of pampered opportunists who would rather use Wendy's cuisine as dogfood. No perked coffee either! It's $4.00 per cup espresso from starbucks or no coffee at all.

The Kerry's are proof that Washington needs a purge from it's fantasy and needs diner food and diner budgets.

Madison's is the classic gathering place of legislators, lobbyists, association executives and downtown state workers willing to spend $10 or so on lunch or about $25 on dinner. They consistently have good food. It's a nice place and just a couple of blocks from Kerry's likely rally spot. Domenico's is also good as is Cafe Deville and Alexandro's. Some lobbyists types prefer Das Stein Haus.

If you're more a limited on your budget or just want to enjoy a real, honest, down-home dining experience, I'd recommend the Ecco Lounge, Towne Grill or the Cajun Catfish House. We also have a number of really good (and cheap) Mexican restaurants. All things, considered, the eating's pretty good in this town of 35,000.

In all fairness, I also found Ken Starr leaving his home each morning with a cup of Starbucks in his hand to be a bit disgusting as well. It meant he had some aide bring him his coffee to his home every morning. When our government servants hire servants to bring them coffee @$4 a cup and on an expense report, paid for by tax payers, a solution to that scenario needs to be in place in a hurry or eventually you get mobs with pitchforks and paramilitary responses.

Ever since Dave Thomas passed away, Wendy's has been going downhill. Same for Taco Bell after they dumped their talking chihuahua.

Kerry will make sure 'the little people' working for him (probably for no pay)...will get
'fast food' ..while Kerry the Mrs and Ben get first class chow...

There was an episode on MASH once where Charles Emerson Winchester III, receives a gourmet meal from home..which he is unwilling to share with anyone except Margret Houlihan (whom Charles in his regalness is hoping to bag using his gourmet canned food as both an attractant & payment)

They both dine to fine music and a little wine...only to get food poisoning...they spend the next day in cramps...with frequent rushes to the privy at the most inopportune times...

One hopes for justice in this world...and occasionally it strikes down the proud without warning

IMO

I think I've never read such an odd random compliment such as yours. Dave Thomas and a Chihuahua on equal billing?

I think Dave put in a tad more sweat equity than that chihuahua.

I knew what you meant though! It just sounded funny.

Not sure Dave would appreciate the implied comparison.

I wonder if Kerry might inform us that he and Teresa first met at a Waffle House? I'd just love to see them shmoozing with the snaggle toothed, tattooe'd, big belt buckled, hairsprayed trailer queens that frequent Waffle House. It would boost Kerry's numbers in the south though, where his support is weak.

Teresa might just develop an appetite for bisquits-n-gravy or country ham? Country ham is more of a controlled rot ham which is non poisonous due to it's ratio of salt to meat. A twenty pound ham is composed of ten pounds meat and ten pounds salt. One one ounce serving provides enough sodium for a human for three weeks based on daily needs.

Great letter! I'd like to see the news report about the "Wendy's anniversary cheeseburger lunch" (heard Kerry picked up the tab...LOL!) followed by the real catered "luncheon" from the local country club...did they really throw away the Wendy's food?? Idiots!

I'd add Johnny's Butcher Shop restaurant to that list. Madison's is good, my wife and I eat there a few times a year. We usually go there on our anniversary, but we're going down to Osage Beach to Dorsey Schroeder's place this year.

Don't forget O'Donoughue's just east of the capitol...I like it better than Madisons.

I bet they'll go to the Jefferson City Country Club, or eat with Governor Bob and Queen Laurie.

Who are you calling a "snaggle toothed, tattooe'd, big belt buckled, hairsprayed trailer queen"??? For shame!

Waffle Houses have the best eggs/toast/grits anywhere, and it's always one of our favorite places to go when travelling in the South...

Their burgers/fries aren't bad either, and FYI, we live in a house, drive an F150 with a nice SUV for the dogs, and have no snaggle teeth, tattoos, big belt buckles or hair spray...LOL!!! ;)

Just what do you think congressional investigation panels, blue ribbon commissions, and independant council investigations do with the budgets they are allocated. Allocating finances for these train wrecks is the first order of business. During the Clinton mess, you don't think we had to heard ad nauseum about the $26,000,000 spent by Ken Starr to look into the actions of known people, in a known/secure place, where exists a list of witnesses who are already on the government payroll and to be found in the GSA phone directory do ya?

Jamie Gorelick is juat waiting for that phone to ring to be on the next Starbucks slurpin, sushi catered investigative panel.

I used to fly into National and do business in Crystal City, mostly related to Navy work, and then fly back home. The bloated mess you witness there is UFB. I don't think Ken Starr saw Ken Starr's expense reports. People in Washington are smarter than to leave that kind of paper trail. The Starbucks expenses are under miscellaneous meeting expenses. Along with the custom printed napkins, limited edition china, and dog sitters.

It seems to me that there is a whole lot more waste in the government then Ken Starr's coffee bill, one which you are assuming we, the taxpayers, are paying for.

I would rather see an investigation or an accounting of the private use of AF One by Hillary then worry about Ken Starr's Starbucks bill.

Don't get me started on politicians and aircraft. I could tell you tales that would make you go insane. Corporate aviation exists as a private airline for politicians.

I would also bet you that Kerry and company are not on that bus which hops around the heartland. They most likely ride the bus out of view to the closest airport, where a biz-jet with catering shoots them to their next destination. It's standard routine in most of those "Heartland of America" bus junketts during presidential season. Only the moron staffers and campaign volunteers ride the bus for real over any distance.

My original point however was suggesting that one might consider making some coffee at home? You know, where the coffee maker is? I make espresso at home. I foam the milk too. I think paying $4.00 for a cup of good coffee a bit ridiculous.

How often do you leave your house with a fresh cup of Starbucks? As for Starbucks delivering, ordering coffee to go to be delivered to your home, and then to drive by Starbucks or some other coffee place on the way to work, isn't that a bit over the top too?

Hopefully the Secret Service will tell them it isn't a secure area, and they'll have to send agents down there to check it out. All day.

So do I--and have Starbucks coffee--to make at home.

I was suggesting that Starbucks could have been delivering coffee to his home since it would have been good advertising.

HOw about where will he eat in KC. Will it be the New York Deli on Troost....I know you have been there too! or perhaps Pumperniks in P.V. Kansas. Now that Kerry has exposed his Jewish roots..He better start eating some real time good Jewish style food on the stump....Nachum. I know you and am glad you have the PASSION to see that GW is re-elected again. He stands strong for Israel and does not flip flop around on the issues depending on which way the wind is blowing. Knowing Kerry wants the inner-city vote means he stops at Arthur Bryant's BBQ with Mrs. Union paid and delivered Mcaskill....... Blunt will deliver Missouri.
Again you make me proud that I know you.
