CA: Unusual illegal border crossing draws attention of U.S. officials
Monterey Herald ^ | 8/3/04 | Seth Hettena - AP

SAN DIEGO - Authorities in California were on the lookout Tuesday for a man believed to be from the Middle East who paid a higher-than-usual smuggling fee to cross the U.S.-Mexico border, but officials said the case had no connection to terrorism.

"This is not a terrorist warning," said Homeland Security spokeswoman Lauren Mack.

The man, who was not identified, entered the United States Monday near Tecate, Mexico - a small border crossing station about 70 miles east of San Diego.

It was unclear how he crossed the border. Once across, the man got into a Ford F150 pickup, according to a witness who alerted U.S. immigration officials. Agents said they believed the information to be credible, Mack said.

The Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement learned the man had paid more than the typical $1,500 to $2,000 smuggling fee and notified the California Highway Patrol, which put out a "soft lookout" - a lower-priorty alert - for the Interstate 5 corridor.

"It's not uncommon for us to alert the local highway patrol when we are following up on smuggling activity," Mack said.

The man got into a 2000 Ford pickup with California plates, Mack said. Department of Motor Vehicle records show the plate was registered to a Yolanda Rodriguez. The vehicle was believed to be headed to Northern California.

State officials could not release the vehicle's registered address.

ABC News, citing anonymous sources, reported over the weekend that al-Qaida planned to send terrorists across the Mexican border into the United States, and that suicide attacks were being planned in the city, possibly using trucks.

A woman with a South African passport was arrested near the U.S.-Mexico border last month when she tried to board a flight to New York with more than $6,000 in cash. Officials told The Associated Press they were investigating whether Farida Goolam Mohamed Ahmed, 48, had ties to al-Qaida or other terrorist groups.

Actually, it might increase the number -- given that there would be more pieces.

The American Legion magazine ran a feature article in the August 2004 issue concerning this very topic.

They also gave mention about the local citizen efforts to control the American-Mexican border. Most of which can be found at americanpatrol.com.

I'd rather go after the business who are hiring these people and toss a bunch of owners in prison. Dry up the jobs and the flow will reverse. Plus, the terrorists who attempt to enter won't have a huge influx of Mexicans to hide in.

Naw, it doesn't go that way. I did some future remote viewing and found this entry in a Russian Encyclopedia, published in 2103.

John F. Kerry. Last President of the United States from 2005 through 2007. Kerry served during a period of numerous terrorists attacks and open and hostile mass legal and illegal immigration. These factors eventually resulted in the break up of the United States into regions now know Al Qaedazhan, Aztlandland, Somalialand, and Chinanminorland. A few residents of the former United States survived by fleeing to what was then called the upper peninsula of the state Michigan. Historians believe Kerry's final words as the White House burned were "So what, I have 3 Purple Hearts, plenty of ketchup, and got the Hispanic vote". Kerry is also reported to have mumbled something about an UN and a Vicente telling him that borders were no longer needed in the 21st century. Finally, weeping, he said "George would have done all those amnesties, too, you know, he wanted the Hispanic vote too".

How many raghead suiciders do you think we have let in? Could be in the thousands by now!

Their headgear is not a rag; it is a small sheet. Therefore, to be accurate we should refer to them as "sheetheads".

I'm not even sure that would have an effect. 20 percent of the illegals who cross the Mexican border are VIOLENT felons, and the violent crime they perpetrate is just as bad as any terrorist attack.

Just what alternative to "naive" do you prefer?

GWB painted himself into a corner years ago,
breaking out of that will require...events I don't want to openly predict.

I spent several hours looking for that vehicle. It would have been nice if I was told that a middle easterner was among the load. That info never made it to the line agents.

"This is not a terrorist warning," said Homeland Security spokeswoman Lauren Mack.

And you know this Ms Mack because.......?? Because the suspect is now in your custody maybe?! Yeah, sure!
