Albany Mosque Leaders Arrested On Terror Charges

AUGUST 05TH, 2004

Two mosque leaders accused of agreeing to help an undercover informant smuggle a shoulder-fired missile to terrorists were arrested in an Albany Thursday. Meanwhile, the FBI says it is keeping a close watch on suspected terrorists in and around New York City.

excerpt....

In New York City, several people with links to the terror groups Al Qaeda, Ansar al Islam and the Egyptian Islamic Jihad are under surveillance in New York City, an FBI spokesperson says. The FBI says there is no evidence that the suspects it is monitoring have any direct connection to the possible plots that led to this week’s heightened alert.

Law enforcement sources tell the Associated Press some of the suspects were linked to terrorist operatives by foreign intelligence agencies.

It appears the FBI and foreign intelligence agencies are finally taking their jobs seriously. The FBI had the Albany two on their radar for some time now and British authorities report the al Qaeda twelve were under survelience for years. It's hard to have confidence in the FBI, but it is good to see they're at least willing to take on the unpolitically correct task of tracking these characters in NYC.

The arrests in London and Albany are big helps. Phone records, etc. lead to more and news releases like this get them up and moving, away from usual zones of confort, etc.

Tearing down the Gorelick Wall has resulted in more terrorist cells being dissolved and dismantled in the last 3 years than in the 8 years under Clinton.

Thanks for nothing, Jamie. Your wall to protect Bill was highly responsible for 9-11-01 and you share in the guilt of allowing that to happen.

Religion of Peace, celebrated in a "mosque" named House of Peace. Naturally, the unbiased media have taken a different view of this situation.

"Despite the high profile this case has received, an arrest is not a conviction, and the suspects deserve the presumption of innocence while the legal process continues. Gov. Pataki went too far Thursday in declaring "there are terrorists among us who want to engage in acts to attack us again."

"It appears the FBI and foreign intelligence agencies are finally taking their jobs seriously."

Hardly.

NYC wouldn't be orange, thousands of terrorist muslims wouldn't be in our nation, and we would be killing people instead of arresting them.

What war was ever won with open borders? By arresting the enemy?

The government won't even name the enemy.

Yeah! Let's tell our enemies exactly WHO and WHERE and WHEN all our agents are and what they are doing and who the are watching, and give these murderers time to move and re-group.

It is time for the COWARDS in our congress and senate (small letters intentional) to declare WAR and stop the obvious enemies in our country. This may include several "republicans" also.

Sorry --- War is Hell! Been there.

Were they trying to buy a RPG or Stinger? MSNBC said it might have been a RPG. Can a RPG shoot down a plane?

I think they were trying to arrange the sale, not actually buy it. The informant told them that he wanted to buy a shoulder-fired missile for the purpose of killing Pakistan's ambassador to the US.

Can a RPG shoot down a plane?

If it hits, and depending on where it hits, likely. Three things would work against a successful RPG attack on a plane; the plane's speed (landing speeds are in the 150 mph range; pretty close to a helicopter's maximum speed), the lack of guidance on at least most models, and the lack of a proximity fuse on most models (i.e. unlike SAMs, close is not good enough). What would work in the terrorists' favor include the predictability of the flight path and the size of the plane (at least versus the size of the helicopters they've been taking potshots at).

Did you grow up in Central America or Argentina maybe? You seem to be advocating death squads.

ummm Watching them? No problem. Just give the locations to NYC MAfioso and let them take them out professional-style a la pizza parlor pop. In war, subcontracted CIA/Armed Forces sniper assassination of enemies is legal. It was done during the pre-invasion of Sicily by Sicilian Mafiosos receiving orders from New Jersey and NYC under approval of U.S. Army to assasinate Mussolini's German Army liasons and spies.

Every government in the world has death squads. They operate under different names but the task is identical.

The governments that employ them BEFORE a problem becomes critical, survive. Those that don't, dont.

Frankly people with "links" to those organizations should be under surveillance at Guantanamo.

I'm delighted the FBI and foreign intell. agencies finally seem on top of things, but I wonder about how weak we're perceived back home in caves and hellholes where terrorist dupes lurk and train. If we 'arrest and try' a handful of their agents, the trial becomes a venue for their lunatic rant. They get more exposure, and back home they call us names, dance in the streets, and shoot guns in the air. The ugly truth is that they understand violence and not much else. Their holy book gives them permission to lie, cheat, and steal, as long as they're dealing with infidel dogs...us.

You might say, so what. But with this crowd, appearance is all. They'll use every chink in our armor to kill us -- ACLU lawyers notwithstanding. They've decided to take over the world, and some think we can fix the problem by sitting down and talking things over at that corrupt body of nations, the UN. These terrorists are classic cases of arrested development. Those ruts in the brain go deep, and since childhood, they've been taught that we're the Great Satan and everything rotten in their lives is our fault. Sadly, we'll probably not be done with this horror for years. We'll suffer more attacks, and at some point, sooner rather than later (Iran, NK, and nukes), we'll have to ponder seriously whether to take the gloves off and make an example of one or two of their innumerable Holy Cities.

Connect the dots. Hiroshima and Nagasaki's tragedy meant the end of the Second World War. And isn't the timing interesting? This past week was the anniversary of the dropping of the first Atomic bomb. A few days before that we carried out a successful anti-missile test on the west coast. I wonder if NK and Iran were paying attention.

The court documents are very interesting reading and are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for some good insights not reported by the press.

The FBI found these guys through a Confidential Informant who himself had been arrested for "fraudulent acqusition of documents" -- driver's licenses are named, but he probably also produced false passports and other critical ID docs. He's cooperating in hopes of a reduced sentence. He's participated in "over 200 consensual recordings" that led to 12 arrests on federal mail fraud and heroin related charges. All but one of the 12 plead guilty. There you have it...terrorists using drug money to finance terrorism in our country.

He speaks Urdu, the national language of Pakistan, and the dialog between him and terrorist Hossain were conducted entirely in Urdu. It's a good thing the FBI is turning these people so we can infiltrate these cells. But can you imagine turning this scum loose on a plea bargain because he cooperated? This is a real Hobson's Choice.

The Confidential Informant (CI) told Hossain that he imports arms, surface-air missiles and ammo from China into the U.S. for sale in NYC. It isn't clear if this is true or a lie he fabricated with the FBI to trap Hossain and Araf. If true, then our friends the Chinese are helping Islamist jihad against us! CI told Hossain that the importation and sale of the SAMs was the "way to paradise."

Much of the balance of the criminal complaint deals with the financial transactions and the plans to use the missile to kill the Pakistani Ambassador for retaliation against the Pakistani goverment for cooperating with the U.S. Imam Aref told CI that if the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed in Pakistan "are working for Allah" then "it is wise for you [i.e., CI] to help if you can."

When you read this, you have to admit that the CI is a brave man to conduct all the meetings with a wire on his body. Somehow I doubt this jihadist will renounce Islam and its warlike ways after he gets out on his plea bargain.
