I wonder if CNN will run this news story. I can't believe anybody in their right mind would support this plan.

Maybe it is just a "head fake" to get peoples mind off the fact that kerry lied about being a war hero?

Lets all sing...

KUM BY YA

Kum by ya my Lord, kum by ya
Kum by ya my Lord, kum by ya
Kum by ya my Lord, kum by ya
Oh, Lord kum by ya.
Someone’s crying Lord, kum by ya
Someone’s praying Lord, kum by ya
“ singing “
“ laughing “
Come by here my Lord, come by here.

Kerry can rely on the supposed 'watchdog' press protecting him from whatever disasters he causes while in office, as it did for Clinton.

In other news, he's also going to balance the budget without raising taxes, while at the same time guaranteeing universal medical insurance and Social Security without raising the retirement age (that was established in the 1930's).

that's not possible. iraq will erupt again, another dictator will emerge, and then all of those young men and women will have died for nothing.

"This president rushed to war without a plan to win the peace," Kerry added.

11 years of nose-thumbing to the peace agreement isn't exactly rushing to war. Kerry called for the outsting of Saddam 6 years ago. Hardly rushing to war. Now to solve it, Kerry decides we should rush the peace. Just close our eyes and hope in a year Iraq will be stable and secure.

I remember when Clinton promised we'd be out of Bosnia in a year -- and we're still there a decade later.

I assume Kerry's promises have about as much reliability as Clinton's.

I guess it all depends on the what the meaning of "year" is -- liberals have funny definitions that they don't share with the rest of us.

The only way to be out in a year...is by retreating and giving up. The confidence by his troops will dry up within four weeks. He will be a loser like Bill...and nothing can make that up.

I do agree that we need to pull out at earliest convience...but it won't be next year or 2005 or 2006. We may be down to half the number of troops by 2006...but thats the best we can hope for.

This is actually great news. The public wants a President who has the guts to get the job done, not one who will arbitrarily pull out. This will please the left-wing radicals, but will not appeal to the swing votes. Go Kerry Go!

Of course the statement slid because it was NPR.

In a real interview he may have been asked, to explain why he thinks we still have a presence in Germany and Japan.

Well, he's on record yet again. He provides many, MANY presents for the Bush campaign. This is big. This is going to be great for the campaign. He's demonstrating why the terrorists would be cheering in the streets on November 3 if Bush loses to this nutjob. And the scary thing is that the polls show him leading many and at least half of the idiots in this country willing to vote for him.

"that's not possible ..."

Yes it is if one doesn't care about the consequences. He would withdraw, declare a success, invite the French, Germans, Russians to take over contracts, etc; come up with some eyewash about a bright future and then kick back as the media stopped reporting on Iraq like they have about the disaster in Serbia - Clinton's great success.

Of course, there would be the inevitable followon terrorists attacks, but Kerry would ask the UN to protect us.

Hey! Cut the man some slack. After all, one year is 8 months longer than he spent on his Vietnam tour. Besides, this time he won't even have to fake wounds in order to pack it in. He can just order it done. As Clinton's Paul Begala said, "Stroke of the pen, law of the land. Kinda cool!"

Once again, Newsmax has contorted a statement:

"I believe that within a year from now we can significantly reduce American forces in Iraq," Kerry told NPR's Steve Inskeep."

Kerry, Edwards Focus on War, Security: In Interview, Democrats Seek 'Fresh Start' in Iraq, at Home

We HAVE to learn to check Newsmax articles just like we do everything else.

And .. the day after General Tommy Franks has been all over the TV saying we will probably have to be there for 4-5 years.

If you gauge 4 mos military experience against a lifetime of service, this statement by Kerry only makes him look more stupid.

You're right. In the heat of this thing they are starting to act a little like the MSM.

The thing is, as we are forced to excerpt more and more news articles, there is a tendency to use Newsmax.

We need to be vigilant about them, especially since they post stuff WE wish were true; it's easy to watch for the signs though. Just yesterday, they posted something about "snotty remarks" that Kerry said.

IMO, a real news source doesn't use words like that.

- If you think that's not possible, you don't know our boy John. He's gonna cut and run like Vietnam, leaving tens of thousands of Iraqi "collaborators" to the tender mercies of the Iranian backed mullahs who will take over the country. The scary thing is that he can brazenly announce this to America's enemies now, giving them the green light to continue killing US soldiers until he's elected and makes the pullout official. He's been rolled without even being pushed but it does satisfy the Deaniacs in the Party. Also it shows his confidence in his control of the media - he wouldn't have announced this unless he was certain that they would cover him from whatever fallout might have otherwise resulted.
