Just announced about 10 minutes ago. Rodney Alexander is at the Secretary of State's office and may refile to run as a Republican. This is only a rumor right now. The last day to file is today at 5PM so we'll see soon enough if it pans out.

I'm assuming that he realizes that the party he is currently with have lost their collective minds?

It's probably because he don't get no respect as a DemocRAT.

Pretty much. His district is solidly Republican so it's either switch now or lose big if a strong Republican surfaces. He won only because the LAGOP tried to phone in a campaign in 2002 and we lost just about everything in the state.

Oh, please, let it be true. Alexander is a solid conservative and would be a fine addition to the GOP caucus. He sits in a very conservative district that Bush will carry comfortably but which will probably reelect him evenif he stays a Democrat.

Hasn't the Louisiana primary already been held? Is it a combined Dem & Repub primary? Was there a GOP candidate?

I hope you are right, but he will win re-election anyway. He publicly stated he would not campaign with Kerry. Rumors on this were beat down a few months ago. Why would he have to be at the Sec. of State office to do this???

Alexander does represent the 5th CD, but Shreveport is in the 4th CD (McCreery's district). The two biggest cities in the 5th CD are Monroe and Alexandria.
