Dems Plan Assault on Vets
Crush Kerry ^ | 8/08/04 | Crush Kerry admin

The Democrat National Committee has prepared a full-scale assault against the Vietnam Veterans for Truth to draw their character and veracity into question, according to one anonymous source inside the DNC. The campaign of character assassination is scheduled to coincide with the release of the book Unfit for Command which reveals inconvenient facts for the Kerry campaign.

“We have prepared what we call ‘Brown Books’ that contain damaging military records, personal credit histories, medical histories, psychiatric histories, divorce records, you name it,” our source told us. The “Brown Books” are so-called because of their distinctive plain brown covers, which contain no words. Some books have already been delivered to Kerry-friendly reporters. Others are on their way, our source told us. When asked if we could have a copy, our source declined, saying there is a limited number of “Brown Books” and they have been carefully inventoried to control in whose hands the books ended up.

Ultimately the “Brown Books” will end up in the hands of pro-Kerry news agencies and reporters. According to our source, who demanded to remain anonymous for fear of retribution, The New York Times is already on the hook to run a negative series on the Vets, as is the Boston Globe, which is owned by the Times. (Editor’s Note: The Globe has already been caught attempting to attack the veracity of George Elliott, Kerry’s commanding officer in Vietnam.)

In addition, the DNC has deployed a six member team from their press shop whose sole responsibility will be to spin and counter-spin stories about the members of Vietnam Veterans for Truth with pro-Kerry media entities, like the Times.

When asked if this was just another example of John Kerry slandering Vietnam Vets – like he did in 1971 as a member of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War – our source snapped, “No! This is warfare. The only way we’re going to get out of this is to force everyone to question their motives and credibility.”

“If they want to spread rumors and stories about John Kerry, we’ll spread rumors and stories about them. And some of the things they did in Vietnam were a lot worse than what they say John Kerry did,” our source concluded ominously.

Stay tuned. We will keep you posted as this nasty story develops. Posted on Sunday, August 08 @ 14:36:36 EDT by admin

The legality? They just won't acknowledge who "put it out there." Just like everything else: "WHO....ME???"

For them to tell of their experiences with Kerry is quite fair. It is for us to determine motive/believability. I do not think we should dig into their personal, unrelated lives to harm Kerry. Their accuracy might be challenged, but their personal lives should not be fodder. Our veterans should be approached as men and women who did the right thing. Those who are not running for an office should not be gutted or filleted.

I agree with you. I just wanted to see if you held Kerry's vets to one standard and the Swifties to another just because of who they are backing.

The brown-book project smacks of KGB tactics, it does.

Certainly. Attacking the messenger works all too well, in MANY situations. It's a pity.

I always hold the good guys to higher standards. The ones in whom I believe have to be BETTER than those in whom I have no faith. That, however, is personal.

As a vet, the best thing we can do for our fellow vets is to vote against this lying SOS (spawn of satan) and his minions and vote for W. If all vets would vote for GWB can you imagine what would happen!

Thank You dear....it would appear that around 95-98% of our fellow FReepers are with us as well.

Quite a different ratio than when we were together on the dissident side in the Lott Affair...lol...our tiny Band of Brothers and Sisters!

Let Kerry suffer the slings and arrows from a sea of fact and innuendo for a while.

Bush has had to live with this exponentially worse since 01/01

The Vietnam Veteran's wall contains a beloved member of my family. He represented the flower of American youth called upon to carry the banner forward. His sacrifice is a lost memory to most but he did not die in vain even though his country failed him. His unselfish acts of Patriotism was the inspiration that guided me to follow him into active military service. All male members of my family did their duty in all branches of the military. One of my relatives fought on Tarawa as a Marine in WWII and ended up a Warrant Officer in the Air Force at career's end.

I spent four years in the United States Air Force working from Anderson A.F.B Guam and Kadena A.F.B Okinawa. State side I was based at Amarillo A.F.B. 461 Bomb Wing and the 380th Bomb Wing out of Plattsburgh New York as a Jet Engine Technician. B-52 D Models and KC-135 A's; my home away from home living out of my duffel bag for over two years. When Rick was killed I had not joined up yet. From 1966 to 1970 I learned how ruthless and evil socialist politicians really are. The innocent and unsuspecting were brought into a surreal world of Greed and Political intrigue. Wearing the uniform was a special moment for me and my service to my country. I learned the hard way what a true war hero is and it certainly is not myself. Rick was our family's hero. He was a flight crew member on a C-130 Medi-Vac. His plane was shot out of the sky while attempting a landing at a hot L/Z in the northern part of the country. Being a medic in Vietnam did not lend itself to longevity in 1965.

A 12"x12" box and a flag is not much of a legacy but he was the real thing as far as heroes go. I always thought of him as a modern protege of Albert Sweitzer because he was so special to all of us and he was a stand alone humanitarian. The humanitarian response he always showed made me proud to be related to him. He is not one of 58,000 + who never made it home he was called to serve and he did that and much more. He got his Purple Heart postumously with no ruffles and flourishes just simple Texas Americana dead at 19 years. He lived more in his 19 years than most see in a normal lifetime and made no excuses for his valiant contribution.

I dedicated my service time to his memory for his Duty-Honor-and Country position; never wavering in his devotion to those he tried to help. Like all my Vietnam Contemporaries from that awful experience my pain and memories will be forever with me, because we were denied victory for political expediency and how it might look rather than sealing victory when it was at hand and then be made to suffer the indignity of being called Village Burners and Baby Killers. This is unforgivable and the people who planned all this have still not been made to pay for their sins of greed and avarice who villified a loyal Generation of American Patriots. We as a unified group must never let them off the hook on this one! Some things have got to be addressed corectly so History records it the way it really was.

They must have about 300,000 copies if they're giving them to pro-Kerry media scum!

First of all, before we all get too worked up with this, it is an ANONYMOUS SOURCE. We always question this type of sourcing for stories against Pres. Bush, thus, we should also take this with a huge grain of salt.

This SOURCE or sources need to be vetted. If true, it's a death knell for the DNC. I would take it with a BRICK of salt.

This is a threat to go into their personal lives -- pure and simple. The DNC know this is below the belt gutter politics. Thus, they want to issue the threat using an anonymous source in the hope of shutting the swift boat vets up. We all know that if they follow though on the nuts and sluts defense, it'll backfire like they have never seen it before. All the vets have to do is stick to the facts and call their bluff.

I agree. Well said.

I wonder what this is costing the DNC?

In the end, I hope it costs them more than they ever wanted to pay.
