Not good. Clintonization of the military. Almost an oxymoron. Makes my skin crawl.

Well,
I'll say it if no one else will - perhaps a touch of Providence.
Still, you have to hope for his recovery. I'd feel the same way if Clinton took ill. Just as another person. You wish for them good physical health, if possible.

When CBS does a mini-series of
The Clintons a la their recent hit,
The Reagans, they won't have to look very far to cast the part of General Shalikashvili. :o)

At a gathering honoring Shalikashvili when he retired, President Clinton pointed out that he made the recommendations that sent U.S. troops into harm's way in Haiti... etc.
Silly me, I thought that was the civilian commander in chief's decision to make...

Wasn't his father a Waffen-SS officer?
To: NormsRevenge
That's too bad. We all wish him a long, healthy retirement.

Massive stroke... Yes, he is a big stroke.
I wonder if it was brought on by sticking his head up so much liberal butt during the convention?

Whatever the man's politics, I think that we should honor him for his service. He wore our country's uniform faithfully for a long long time.A lot of jerks wore the uniform - but they wore the uniform - and faced the risks.
It's his loved ones I feel for.

Its hard to feel compassion for a general who supports someone that has already given energy to the insurgency and may very well already be responsible for untold death and injury to our troops.
HE supposedly was one of us and he knows very well what Clinton did to the morale.......Kerry will destroy it.
Wish him well as a Christian.....but disrespect him otherwise.

FRom wikipedia..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_M._Shalikashvili
excerpt..
John's father fought with the Nazis during World War II. He was originally part of the Georgian Brigade, a group of expatriots fighting to take Georgia from the Soviets. But the unit was later transferred to the SS and positioned in Normandy. Dimitri was eventually captured by the British and held in a prisoner of war camp until after the war. A collection of Dimitri Shalikashvili's writings are on deposit at the Hoover Institution.

His surname has a -shvili- ending, indicating him as ethnic Georgian. As far as I know, it is unique to Georgian language.
