(Cambodia Kerry's rich fantasy life) John Kerry: Hunter, Dreamer, Realist

And who is he, really?

A close associate hints: There's a secret compartment in Kerry's briefcase. He carries the black attaché everywhere. Asked about it on several occasions, Kerry brushed it aside. Finally, trapped in an interview, he exhaled and clicked open his case.

"Who told you?" he demanded as he reached inside. "My friends don't know about this."

The hat was a little mildewy. The green camouflage was fading, the seams fraying.

"My good luck hat," Kerry said, happy to see it. "Given to me by a CIA guy as we went in for a special mission in Cambodia."

Kerry put on the hat, pulling the brim over his forehead. His blue button-down shirt and tie clashed with the camouflage. He pointed his finger and raised his thumb, creating an imaginary gun. He looked silly, yet suddenly his campaign message was clear: Citizen-soldier. Linking patriotism to public service. It wasn't complex after all; it was Kerry.

He smiled and aimed his finger: "Pow."

Come on, help me think of some more words to describe this guy besides creepy, weird, scary, or insane.

This guy CANNOT be elected POTUS.

Those who spend too much time living in the past are unaware of the present.

Maybe John Kerry should see a doctor.

'Coprolitic' seems applicable. Perhaps 'Gork-like', or 'Gork-alike'. 'Alexei Romanov' would be a good historical appellation, except al-Qerry doesn't have hemophilia. 'Dorky' has gained some currency,

How about ''ol' Red Sox'', because he's not well-liked anywhere outside of Mass., and can't win the big one?

Here's John Kerry doing a dubbie before heading into Cambodia to sing Christmas Carrols and drink palm wine.

Pretty funny looking socks!

DSM-IV & DSM-IV-TR:
Narcissistic Personality Disorder

Individuals with this Cluster B Personality Disorder have an excessive sense of how important they are. They demand and expect to be admired and praised by others and are limited in their capacity to appreciate others' perspectives.

Diagnostic criteria for 301.81 Narcissistic Personality Disorder
(cautionary statement)
A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

(1) has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)

(2) is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love

(3) believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)

(4) requires excessive admiration

(5) has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations

(6) is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends

(7) lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others

(8) is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her

(9) shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

The 7 part boston globe series on hanoi john says differently. More like he STRAYED into Cambodia in the beat of a skirmish.

To top it off, Kerry said, he had gone several miles inside Cambodia, which theoretically was off limits, prompting Kerry to send a sarcastic message to his superiors that he was writing from the Navy's "most inland" unit.

Works for me, mate. About one notch away from ''megalomaniacal'', too. Certainly he has the component of that diagnosis usually referred to as ''delusions of adequacy'', oops, I mean ''grandeur''.

"It wasn't complex after all; it was Kerry."

Nope, sorry to disagree, but that writer confused kerry with Bull Sh*t. One the other hand, it is an easy error to make, given the essential similarities.

To me, the all-purpose one-word description for Kerry is fraud.

He put together a film crew of his fellow soldiers to record, and in some cases to re-enact, his "exploits." Fraud.

He received three Purple Hearts over the span of a few weeks, enough to get him out of Viet Nam, yet refuses to respond to credible allegations that the wounds were trivial, and possibly even self-inflicted -- charges he could easily refute by authorizing the release of his service medical records. Fraud.

He betrayed and lied about his fellow soldiers for political gain. He lied about being ordered to Cambodia. He threw away his medals, or ribbons, or someone else's -- the story has changed so often, who knows the truth? Fraud.

He tried to leverage his disingenuous war protests into a House seat at an early age, and managed to lose in a Massachusetts district which voted for McGovern the same year. Fraud.

After losing the house race, he enrolled in a second-tier law school (BC) for the sole purpose of building a resume suitable for a political career. Fraud.

He married a wealthy wife, divorced her, and married a very wealthy widow several years his senior, and embarked upon a loveless relationship for political and economic convenience. Fraud.

He has "played at" being a Senator, but has no notable legislation nor other achievements to his name. Fraud.

He is an utterly hollow man. And he's a fraud.

"Occasionally, he'll even write poems, like the one he reluctantly read to a reporter: "I had a talk with a deer today/ we met upon the road some way . . . between his frequent snorts/He asked me if I sought his pelt/cause if I did he said he felt/quite out of sorts!"
