Too early to tell whether Bush-hatred trumps anger at getting suckered.

I dunno...Bush-hatred is pretty darn rabid. And where there's rabies, rational thinking goes out the window. The Kerry camp seems to believe (and doesn't mind telling people) that the media wants to see him elected.

No, I'm going to have to put my money on the Bush-hatred factor. Even being embarassed by their guy isn't going to be enough to make the liberal commie MSM turn around and start reporting fairly about Kerry's Grand Adventures in Vietnam (not to mention his pitiful record as a Senator).

This hasn't seemed to touch sKerry's poll numbers yet. Like any bad sKerry news, it's being ignored by the liberal press.

"Simply put, if John Kerry can be conclusively demonstrated to have lied about aspects of his Vietnam service, the media has to ask what else has he been lying about."

What hasn't John Kerry lied about?

If Kerry was sent on a secret drop-off mission, he's going to have to come up with some proof

I'll bet he'll pull an old hat out from his briefcase - the hat says "C I A" all over the front. There's your "proof".

Fantastic post, John. I have especially loved the detail of the CIA spy hate. This is worthy of a Shakespeare history play--with Steyn as the author.

"Kerry wrote an article for the Boston Herald on October 14, 1979:

"I remember spending Christmas Eve of 1968 five miles across the Cambodian border being shot at by our South Vietnamese allies who were drunk and celebrating Christmas. The absurdity of almost killed by our own allies in a country in which President Nixon claimed there were no American troops was very real."
"

The shot that sunk a wanna be!

Good job John.

This needs to be re-posted as often as it takes, to get everyone up to par.

John yesterday RUSH mentioned hanoi john sent biden and levin to EU i.e..france to make secret deals with them to send troops AFTER he gets election. This is how he's going to get other nations involved.

First this is illegal I would think, second he's allowing more of our Troops and other nations troops to be killed just for the sake of getting elected. It's realy telling what kind of CIC he'd make.

Has any of our well read FReepers been able to turn up any news articles to afirm what RUSH mentioned?

It looks like Kerry's selective release of his military and health records was smoke, and that the big-time journalists at the New York Times, Boston Globe, Los Angeles Times and Washington Post fell for it.

When it's a 'Rat political candidate, such as Clinton, now Kerry, they always fall for it ... the candidates know they will and expect them to ... it's a given.

Good morning JH2....thanks for the early news, how do you do it?
The HH Swift piece is the beginning of the end for JfK & possibly the facades that prop up the far Left in the US...also it is a direct salvo on the "Big lie" media....one could not write a Novel this good!
I have to think that the choice is starting to become quite clear. Wonder what is next, the WH has yet to effectively bring their best game, so it's base may remain a bit shaky, but you can't say the WH has not been Battle Tested over the last 3+yrs and will probably open the can on the boy Hero from the awarding winning movie Fall of Saigon.... What a fascinating election year. As my mother would often say, "everything will be OK".

The only thing the Kerry campaign has been able to do is parse words. It's the 2004 equivalent to "depends on the meaning of 'is' is".

"and as recently as June 2003 was regaling a Washington Post reporter with a story of how he had ferried a CIA man secretly into Cambodia, and how he'd kept the man's hat as a reminder of that journey."

From the Washington Post article:

"A close associate hints: There's a secret compartment in Kerry's briefcase. He carries the black attaché everywhere. Asked about it on several occasions, Kerry brushed it aside. Finally, trapped in an interview, he exhaled and clicked open his case.

"Who told you?" he demanded as he reached inside. "My friends don't know about this." The hat was a little mildewy. The green camouflage was fading, the seams fraying.

"My good luck hat," Kerry said, happy to see it. "Given to me by a CIA guy as we went in for a special mission in Cambodia."

Kerry put on the hat, pulling the brim over his forehead. His blue button-down shirt and tie clashed with the camouflage. He pointed his finger and raised his thumb, creating an imaginary gun. He looked silly, yet suddenly his campaign message was clear: Citizen-soldier. Linking patriotism to public service. It wasn't complex after all; it was Kerry.

He smiled and aimed his finger: "Pow."

Oh, what a tangled web we weave...

Now we get to see if there's any pride left in the newsroom. Do any of these writers, reporters and producers resent getting played by Kerry? If so, payback will be stiff.

Many on this board have predicted exactly that. Expect the dogs to turn on Kerry by sept if he cant clear himself of these allegations

"Why all the attention? Simply put, if John Kerry can be conclusively demonstrated to have lied about aspects of his Vietnam service, the media has to ask what else has he been lying about. The voters have to ask if he can be trusted. In short: Free fall."

The media has to do no such thing and they will prove it by not asking a single question on this issue. His article is right on the money, but the media is going to ignore this story.

…a story of how he had ferried a CIA man secretly into Cambodia …

Apocalypse Now wasn’t released in until 1979, so it couldn’t be the basis of Hanoi John’s tale. Could he have been influenced by some of the “veteran’s” tall tales from the Winter Soldier meetings? The phony vets had more - not better, just more - hair raising stories than the real ones.
I encountered such a “vet” in a support group once. He claimed to have been an ex-SEAL (SEAL was just making the grade as heroes for movies at the time) with the year long mission of assassinating AMERICAN Generals in Viet Nam on orders from Washington. According to him he killed literally dozens. His problem was - other than we would have run out of Generals - that he kept confusing the names of providences and villages. The names would change with the telling. What ever name was in the news or the latest Hollywood release he used.
He wasn't with us long.
