My Sex Education Experience
Myself

Posted on 08/11/2004 4:13:13 PM PDT by AVNevis

If you can believe it or not, Planned Parenthood teaches the sex education classes at my middle school. (Yes, the school board actually allows an activist organization to teach sex ed.) It was amazing some of the things they said. They actually let us know that sex before 18 was illegal. However, then they told us not to worry about breaking it because the police will never catch you. As the week went on it actually seemed like they were promoting juvinile sex. The instructor gleefully talked about how to put a condom on. She explained how flavored condoms could make oral sex a more enjoyable experience. I had to practically force her to say that lying to your parents about sex was a bad thing(I did this by asking her if lying to your parents about sex was a bad thing during annonymous question time.) Even then she didn't seem too sincere. If you have a middle or high school student in the Sacramento Unified School District or many other school districts, this is what your kids are learning. Please, for their sake, give them a good talk about not having sex until marrage before this is taught at your child's school.

P.S. I am planning on starting a Conservative Club at my High School sometime this upcoming year after I get to know the school(I'm an incoming freshman.) Getting PP out will certainly be a priority

Your point being that even some liberals (such as your good self) are ignorant, you apparently never having heard of flavored condoms?

Of course, your self-absorbed ignorance makes the whole idea hilarious, right? Of course.

So, taking a poster at face value when he (or she) reports something they experienced? You call this "propaganda?" Yet again, you libs are true to form. Resorting to name calling when you can add nothing of substance.

Checked out DU recently and all of the conspiracy theories they subscribe to? And, by default, you subscribe to also? Or, perhaps the correct title should be "leftwing propaganda."

And, if you have not read the newspapers out here recently, there was a school board trying to decide about "gender stereotyping" and "gender indentification" policies that were being promoted by a school district. The idea that someone from PP would be teaching such a class is more likely than not here in CA.

I'm new to FR. I know how to use Spell Check on replies, but how do you use it when you are the original poster.

Oh no, I've certainly heard of them. It just seems a little far-fetched that a sex education teacher, even one pushing a (poorly) hidden agenda, would tell eighth grade students to use flavored condoms to make oral sex more enjoyable. Don't you agree?

Cheers.

So, taking a poster at face value when he (or she) reports something they experienced is wrong? You call this "propaganda?"

Yet again, you libs are true to form. Resorting to name calling when you can add nothing of substance. Ann Coulter was right again, you libs are all the same.

(geez, where is an editor when I need it, roling eyes in embarrassment for my first effort)

Welcome to FR! Glad to have you onboard.

They actually let us know that sex before 18 was illegal. However, then they told us not to worry about breaking it because the police will never catch you.

They lied, and if proof is needed, they should check out how Mary Kay LeTourneau went back to prison. The release last week was her second; after her first, when she was barred from seeing her 13-year-old boyfriend, the two of them were busted having sex in a car. Back to the Big House for the lady.

BTW, when you get around to the Conservative Club, there are thousands of us around here who'd be happy to help. When the time comes, post a thread. :)

Great post, and let me add my welcome. As you implied, you do need to update your screen name -- maybe something which will be applicable for a few years, like "Highskooler" or similar. Good idea to identify yourself up front as non-elderly, but your name needs a little staying power. I'm sure the administrators here can help you with a change, should you so desire.

I was interested, and encouraged, to see that you're thinking of starting a Conservative Club at your high school. Ah, I remember the days of the "Youth for McKinley Club" I was in -- OK, I'm not that old, though sometimes I feel like I am. But conservatism, or perhaps more accurately, the perception of conservatism, changed with Ronald Reagan. Prior to him, conservatism was generally perceived as anti-everything, or go-slow-ism. Maybe even "liberal-lite." So-called conservatives in the Nixon-Ford era (and that's really where I first became politically aware) so often agreed with the liberals on social issues, differing only in that they wished to implement "reforms" more slowly. Many "conservatives" of that era pushed for slightly lower and/or slightly less progressive taxes, as opposed to a true flat tax; they supported a reduction in the rate of increasing government regulations and the attendant bureaucracy, but not an actual rollback of government; they supported judicial activism, only to a somewhat lesser extent did the liberals; and so on. In other words, they (the so-called "conservatives" of the era) were timid.

When you get your Conservative Club organized, my advice (unsolicited, granted) would be that the club have as its founding principal being for issues, as opposed to being simply naysayers. It's easier, and more popularly acceptable, to have a positive agenda. Seize the initiative, and get people talking. Everyone won't agree with your issues, of course, but you may be surprised at how many do.
