Another great example of the importance of the 2nd am
Notice the shotgun on the green deck chair...
He misspelled the word shot with something that looks like killed.

Trying To Reason With Hurricane Season
Written by - Jimmy Buffett
From - A-1-A
Squalls out on the gulf stream
Big storm's comin' soon
I passed out in my hammock
And God I slept 'til way past noon
Stood up and tried to focus
I hoped I wouldn't have to look far
I knew I could use a Bloody Mary
So I stumbled next door to the bar
And now I must confess, I could use some rest
I can't run at this pace very long
Yes it's quite insane, I think it hurts my brain
But it cleans me out and then I can go on
There's somethin' about this Sunday
It's a most peculiar gray
Strollin' down the avenue that's known as A1A
Feelin' tired, then I got inspired
I knew that it wouldn't last long
So all alone I walked back home
Sat on my beach and then I made up this song
And now I must confess, I could use some rest
I can't run at this pace very long
Yes it's quite insane, I think it hurts my brain
But then it cleans me out and then I can go on
Well the wind is blowin' harder now
Fifty knots or thereabouts
There's white caps on the ocean
And I'm watchin' for water spouts
It's time to close the shutters
It's time to go inside
In a week I'll be in gay Paris
That's a mighty long airplane ride
And now I must confess, I could use some rest
I can't run at this pace very long
Yes it's quite insane, I think it hurts my brain
But it cleans me out and then I can go on
Yes it cleans me out and then I can go on
thank you... ..the headline needs to be edited for accuracy...
Shot doesn't mean killed. Killed on the other hand means he is a good shot. So yes, "looters will be killed" describes the way in which looters will be shot.
Boy, did I blow this thread. That was supposed to be a preview touch not a post...
.....and I certainly don't need any help looking like an idiot.
I'm more than capable of doing that all on my own.
Probably describes how McGreevey feels about now...
Let's hope the national guard has the message!
yuck!
I did emergency response for Andrew and boy was the "you loot we shoot" sentiment out. And good reason...it was like the wild west with no traffic lights, no law, armed gangs, 82nd ABN. I was based with the Marines ( I was EPA) out at the water treatment plant with the loose monkeys we thought had AIDS. Lots of guns those two weeks.
lol!
That's so gay.
"Attempt to take my stuff and I'll KILL YOU" -- I like it.
He's still got his beer holder and shotgun, so it's Busch time. Looks a lot like Tommy Frank, don't he?
If you hit the post button, by mistake, instead of edit, this is what you'll get.
Ohhhh you mean you didn't play with the escaped monkeys from Monkey Jungle?!?!?!
One of the funniest stories out of Andrew was security and nuclear operators at Turkey Point Nuke plant chasing an escaped chimps all over the reactor areas after Andrew.
....and if anyone hasn't, then they are just not trying hard enough.
Right on.
Did anybody else notice that when they showed of one of the towns in Florida...that on one block...all the buildings were damaged, except one. That one building was a HOOTERS.
Well the rednecks gotta have someplace to go have a beer after shooting looters!!!!
(ducking!!)
"He misspelled the word shot with something that looks like killed."
LOL, that cracks me up!
U have that right!...Remember: GUN CONTROL....MEANS HITTING YOUR TARGET!
I don't know why I remembered that......oh yeah...women's diving is on.
Just kiddin',just kiddin',no flames necessary.

Do you see anything worth stealing in that photo, except maybe the gun?
There was so little looting that even the notoriously anti-gun NPR ran a story on the situation. The reporter described, in awed tones, how homeowners were actually using their *own* guns to protect their *own* property and families and neighborhoods, and as a result the looting and lawlessness that occurred immediately after the hurricane had dropped to almost nil, despite the fact that the areas were still cut off from protection by area law enforcement. The overall tone of the story was that this was some kind of bizarre once-in-a-lifetime miracle, and that the concept had never occurred to them before.

Hank, hurricanes have a nasty habit of making the most well-kept homes with their manicured lawns look a bit messy. His possessions are his possessions...so looters shouldn't be surprised to get some lead in their butts if they visit toting pillowcases...

I have no doubts, when another hurricane hits my area, and it will, hubby and I will take turns, sitting on lawn chairs in front of whatever is left of my home, with the shotgun, handguns and rottweiller begging people to try and loot us.
Nah, it's fine. We get the idea. :-)
i just don't understand what the picture of the kids on the beach has to do with the guy on his porch? are they his kids, is that the view from his yard, are the kids running from him,.. etc.? lol!
Local news reported that two would be looters got killed by locals, one had been shot in the face. When this word got out I think it stopped most others cold.
We had a home in Navarre, FL when Opal hit in 1995. Not too much damage in our area but we had a lot of "visitors".
We were still without power when the wife mentioned that a pickup truck with out-of-state plates kept slowly cruising through the neighborhood. I went out on the porch with my rifle and very ostentatiously began "cleaning" it. After another pass when I changed looks with the driver, the truck disappeared.
Next time a H-cane hits the SC Lo-Country, I am going to the Hooters Shelter with my 9mm in my shoulder holster...
If this guy were to kill anyone, he'd be charged with murder, bet on it.
The "will be killed" denotes an intent/desire to kill - and that insures a charge of murder.
Much better to write something like "property defended with firearms."
This guy does have the right to defend himself and his family with a firearm; but definitely does Not have the right to "kill treaspassers."

Isn't this guy a FReeper? FReeper Joe Brower posted this pic on an earlier thread.
Our Judicial Oligarchy has forced people to believe that they must mince words to avoid prosecution if they are involved in an incident. The intent here is to make it clear that this guy is defending his property.
He wants to make sure any idiot gets the point, not just people with a sixth grade reading ability.
"Two little words. With these two words, two concepts were verbalized that have lived for nearly two and a half Millennia. They signify and characterize both the heart of the Warrior, and the indomitable spirit of mankind. From the ancient Greek, they are the reply of the Spartan General- King Leonidas to Xerxes, the Persian Emperor who came with 600,000 of the fiercest fighting troops in the world to conquer and invade little Greece, then the center and birthplace of civilization as we know it. When Xerxes offered to spare the lives of Leonidas, his 300 personal bodyguards and a handful of Thebans and others who volunteered to defend their country, if they would lay down their arms, Leonidas shouted these two words back.Thank you for that tidbit.
"'Molon Labe!' (mo-lone lah-veh)
"Which means,'Come and get them!' They live on today as the most notable quote in military history. And so began the classic example of courage and valor in its dismissal of overwhelming superiority of numbers, wherein the heart and spirit of brave men overcame insuperable odds. Today, there lies a plaque dedicated to these heroes all at the site. It reads:'Go tell the Spartans, travelers passing by, that here, obedient to their laws, we lie.'
"We have adopted this defiant utterance as a battle cry in our war against oppression because it speaks so clearly and simply towards those who would take our arms.
"It signifies our determination to not strike the first blow, but also to not stand mute and allow our loved ones, and all that we believe in and stand for, to be trampled by men who would deprive us of our God-given or natural, if you will rights to suit their own ends."
That's just the way it is.
Notice the large American flag in his living room...
The photographer's name is Marc Serota, and he is with REUTERS, if you want to follow-up.
What is it with these lying pr!cks? This one and JFnK are always pointing their fingers at people. Isn't that body language for 'damn right I'm better than you and don't you forget it'.
So, apparently there are some areas where we do not have "freedom of speech". You believe that this man has to choose his words carefully, despite his intent. In other words, his speech is limited by court precedent. Sounds arguable.
He evidently thiks he has some stuff to protect and is giving fair warning.
Got a problem with that?
Those kids were playing on Wrightsville Beach this morning, where the Old North State Chapter was supposed to be playing this morning. Long story. Photo's on the wrong thread.
I salute the man for giving fair warning.
Last I heard, in court, you can be convicted of shooting an intruder, unless your life was in danger. If you could run out the back door, or climb out a window, you need to let the perp have his way.
I will guarantee, if this good 'ol boy pops a cap on somebody who he has not invited onto his property, well - they was warned. And I doubt there would be an uproar from his town to charge him.
Scum that even think of looting need a killing - not a warning.
