Bloomberg Ignores Menino's Warning as Convention Riots Loom (IDIIOT MAYOR ALERT!)
Newsmax ^ | 8/16/04

Posted on 08/16/2004 7:30:39 AM PDT by areafiftyone

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg intends to allow anarchists with a track record of violence to gather on streets and sidewalks near the Republican National Convention in two weeks, despite warnings from Boston Mayor Thomas Menino that Bloomberg's plans are "a recipe for disaster."

"Boston put barbed wire around the FleetCenter," the New York mayor complained earlier this month, alluding to security operations that protected the Democratic Convention from disrupters.

"[But] we're not doing that," he insisted. "[New York] is a city that values its reputation as a place where people can come, congregate and say what they want."

But Menino spokesman Seth Gitell fired back:

"Once again, Mayor Bloomberg has demonstrated his need for a reality check. It's only now dawning on him the prospect of thousands of protesters swarming through the garment district in Manhattan."

Radicals planning to protest the GOP confab intend to take full advantage of Bloomberg's leniency. And the NYPD is reportedly expecting the worst, including:

• An anarchist plot to distract bomb-sniffing dogs by sprinkling gunpowder in and near trains just below the convention center at Madison Square Garden.

• Efforts by protesters to stop delegates from getting to the Garden by puncturing the tires of their shuttle buses or lying down in front of them.

• Attacks on 40 hotels housing GOP delegates in a bid to create chaos.

• Plans to release mice in Broadway theaters during showtimes.

• An off-Broadway play designed to excacerbate tensions titled: "I'm Gonna Kill the President."

Protest organizers include:

• Jaggi Singh, who helped organize the 2002 "Take the Capital" G8 protest in Ottawa. He was jailed for weapons possession.

• Miriam "Starhawk" Simos, whose widely read essay "How We Shut Down the WTO" is considered a protester's bible on how to disrupt establishment events.

• Ruckus Society director John Sellers, who told reporters after he organized riots that shut down the city of Seattle during a 1999 WTO meeting:

"I make a distinction between violence and destruction of property. Violence to me is against living things. But inanimate objects? It may be violence under the law but I just don't think it's violence."

Bloomberg is a Jewish David Dinkins - it is as though, he says to himself, "What can I do to alienate those who would be in my City, either as residents or visitors?" I believe it was a terrible mistake to choose NYC as the site. It should have been FL or PA, or other state that reasonably could have been seen to be a swing state...Rove et al were just too cute by half on this one.

You do have a point but I just hate seeing my city become a war zone because of these lunatics. I hate them being here and I wish I could get into a tank and mow them down. That's how horrible I feel about them invading our city. I really feel sorry for the NYPD. They are going to have their hands full. I wish them luck and I pray that no cop gets hurt from these nutjobs.

Any sane person will see it!

I was sent the following in email about the Rats:

Virtually anyone can be a Democrat. Just simply quit thinking and vote
that way. If you want to be a GOOD Democrat, however, there are some
prerequisites you must have first. Compare them below and see how you
rate...

1. You have to believe the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of Federal
funding.

2. You have to believe that the same school system that can't teach 4th
graders how to read is somehow the best qualified to teach those same
kids all about sex.

3. You have to believe that guns, in the hands of law-abiding Americans,
are more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology, in the hands
of Chinese communists.

4. You have to believe that there was no art before Federal funding.

5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by
cyclical, documented changes in the earth's climate, and more affected
by Americans driving SUVs'!

6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial but being
homosexual is natural.

7. You have to be against capital punishment but support abortion on
demand.

8. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments
create prosperity.

9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but loony
activists from Seattle do.

10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually
doing something to earn it.

11. You have to believe the U.S. military, not evil, tyrannical regimes,
start wars.

12. You have to believe the NRA is bad, because it supports certain
parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good, because it supports
certain parts of the constitution.

13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too
high.

14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more
important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, General Robert E.
Lee or Thomas Edison.

15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial
quotas and set-asides are not.

16. You have to believe Hillary Clinton is all about "progress" and not
power. She just wants to help us out of the archaic system of governing
that we've been subjected to since our founding.

17. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked
anywhere it's been tried, is because the right people haven't been in
charge.

18. You have to believe Republicans telling the truth belong in jail,
but a cheat, liar and sex offender belongs in the White House and you
would vote him back in there in a New York minute (if you could).

19. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag,
transvestites and beastiality should be constitutionally protected and
manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.

20. You have to believe that illegal Democrat Party funding by the
Chinese is somehow in the best interest of the United States.

21. You have to believe that the vociferous minorities who protest
against prayer and saluting the flag in school, the 10 commandments in
court, have far more rights than the majority who believe in God and
country and want these values to be instilled in our young children

"despite warnings from Boston Mayor Thomas Menino that Bloomberg's plans are "a recipe for disaster." "

The Democrats and Boston looked very bad for fencing in protester who were just exercising free speech in a manner traditional for national conventions.

The Democrats want the Republicans to look just as bad and thus are encouraging them to do the same. I think we can run our convention without their help.

But, these people don't want to "say" anything! They want to prevent you from saying anything. Their goal is not to present a different opinion but to simply disrupt. They are the neocommunists and their movement is based on anarchy. In fact, the one way to manipulate these kerrorists is to tie them to Kerry.

These guys will do some unbelievable things. We look at protest as carrying signs and chanting. They look at protest as destroying the Republicans ability to meet their institutional objectives. There will be "white powder" attacks, fake emergency calls, stink bombs in the subway and street theater that will use NYCPD as a backdrop and become part of the next documentary.

To the extaent that we can and it is safe, we ought to be carrying Kerry signs so that, to the rest of the world, these criminals look like they are operating at Kerry's instructions.

That might be great - except for New Yorkers, who realize that every minute the cops and FBI have to spend dealing with these wild-eyed radicals is a minute they can't spend tracking al Qaeda in our midst.

Last week, two al Qaeda were arrested in Queens. I'm sure others who have yet to be apprehended are extremely greatful to Mayor Bloomberg for ensuring that his cops will be too consumed by protest operations to worry too much about terrorists.

I can't (won't) go into detail but I can assure you that there have already been numerous post 9.11 arrests in the city, some with pretty scary levels of equipment and target data. What I find surprising is the fact that the arrest of the two Pakis (unrelated) was broadcast to the public. This is a shift in policy.

It is rather ironic that Boston was locked down like a maximum security prison, but NYC will not be. It is the leftists that we must be protected against, and they weren't going to do anything in Boston. It wasn't like there was a risk of a right wing riot in Boston. There will be a left wing riot in NYC.

That said, the NYPD will own the protestors in short order. But the leftists will try to start something. They have succeeded in several disgusting destructive spasms. While they can overwhelm the Ottowa or Seattle police, I don't think they appreciate the sheer scale of the NYPD. They are going to be surprised when they get rowdy and the NYPD turns out in force and outnumbers the protesters.

Lots of dumping on Bloomberg here because he's not as good as Giuliani. Time to remember that he barely beat Mark Green for mayor. Green — flakier even than sKerry — would have made us New Yorkers pine for the good old days of Lindsay, Beame, and Dinkins.

OK, Mayor Mike does some weird stuff and isn't even a RINO (he's a Dem who ran on the Rep line because he couldn't get the Dem nomination over Green). But, given the huge hit the city took on 9/11, it's come back pretty well on Bloomberg's watch.
