Former Brook Park mayor Tom Coyne found nearly naked, unresponsive on lawn By Ryan Cornell Cleveland.com August 16, 2004 NORTH OLMSTED -- Former Brook Park mayor Thomas Coyne was found unresponsive, nearly naked and apparently intoxicated early this morning, North Olmsted Police say. Shortly before 2 a.m., a North Olmsted resident called 911 and complained that a person was laying on his front lawn on Columbia Road, about a quarter mile south of Lorain Road, North Olmsted Police Captain Kevin Whalen said. "Officers responded and found Mr. Coyne with his pants down around his ankles, his shirt off and tucked under his head as a pillow and he smelled of alcohol," Whalen said. "There was no apparent injury or sign of foul play." According to Whalen, Coyne was unresponsive and was transported to Fairview General Hospital. Police are awaiting test results which could explain Coyne's condition, but it is not yet clear whether Coyne will be charged with a crime, Whalen said. "It's not an unusual case for us on a weekend around here," he explained. "But what makes it unusual is the person involved." In March, Coyne was sentenced to three days in jail and two years of probation after he was convicted of driving drunk in Westlake. ------ Copyright 2004 cleveland.com. All Rights Reserved.
