Another Kerry Lie?
RedState.Org ^ | 8/16/04 | Robert Torgoda

Posted on 08/16/2004 6:02:21 PM PDT by CT

In various press releases, including an August 6 "fact check," the Democrats have asserted that "John Kerry served on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence for 6 years and is the former Vice Chairman of the Committee."

Eugene Volokh questions this claim:

Now the Republican National Committee is pointing out -- correctly, I think, based on my quick search -- that Kerry never was the Vice Chairman of the Committee; that post was held by former Nebraska Senator Bob Kerrey.

I've followed up on Professor Volokh's work and conducted my own research. Democrats won't be pleased with the findings....

Posted On: Aug 16th, 2004: 13:43:21

The LexisNexis Congressional Page, whose member profiles go back to the 1997-1998 session, provides the following intelligence-committee ranks for Kerry:
108th Congress (2003-2004): Not a member
107th Congress (2001-2002): Not a member
106th Congress (1999-2000): 3
105th Congress (1997-1998): 4

If he were the vice chairman at some point, we would expect him to have appeared in the number-two slot. But he doesn't seem to have reached that level. And it would be unlikely for him to have held the post in preceding congressional sessions when he was younger; typically, senators progress to higher ranking.

Still, for the sake of covering all the bases, the examination should extend to at least the 1995-1996 session. After all, Democrats have noted that "Kerry joined the Committee in early 1995 and served until early 2001."

A LexisNexis News search ("john pre/2 kerry and intelligence and vice chair!" from 1995 to 2001) yields 12 results. Only two are pertinent to the topic at hand -- and both display similar Scripps Howard News Service dispatches by Lance Gay.

" Like , ooops, man."

The Kerry campaign has gone way beyond the ooops stage .

Every day,the campaign issues a new correction for the previous day's correction.
Every day Senator Schwinn says something outlandish that is easily debunked.
Ok- he lies every day.
The Kerry campaign just calls it his pre correction statement of the day.

The Democrats either did not vett Kerry or in their desperation, they chose to overlook his lifelong pattern of
one upping Al Gore in being a charter member of Fantasyland.
Maybe both.
Tomorrow, Kerry will probably claim he circled the sun in Al Gore's special spaceship.

john kerry has two, actually three records:

1. The record of his service in Vietnam.
This record he can either conceal or muddy the waters long enough for him to escape, with the help of the main tream media, the heat from his lies.

2. The record of his actions after he returned to the United States from Vietnam.

3. The record of his votes in the United States Senate.

Numbers 2 and three are matters of public record, his testimony before Congress, his anti war activities, his voting record as a Senator. Only on record number 1 can he run on because he can keep his military records concealed.

Ant false statment he makes concerning his conduct after returning from Vietnam or his voting record can easily be refuted by public records.

Therefore he can only do four things: Lie, Lie, Lie and critize President Bush. These he does.

See my comment #51 - John Kerry claimed credit for passing Clinton's Jobs Bill but Bob KerrEy was the one who cast the deciding vote.

Great analysis.

In regards to his senate record President Bush, VP Cheney, the Bush campaign, the RNC are doing a great job exposing it.

You notice that President Bush is publicly in stump speeches exposing Kerry disastrous record in the Senate. The TV ads are doing a good job as well.

I think someone (not the President or his campaign) should go very hard regarding Kerry treasonous antiwar activities when he came from Vietnam. This will be extremely damaging as well.

I'm surprised that he doesn't show us his secret medals awarded him from communist Vietnam for all the anti-war work he did from 1971-73 that prolonged the captivity of our POWs in North Vietnam and the jungle hell-holes in South Viet Nam. He sure didn't throw these medals away!

It is still in the Kerry Rapid Response Ad Watch - look for the second BUSH-CHENEY Credibility Gap.

BUSH-CHENEY CREDIBILITY GAP

Narrator: “And after the first attack on the World Trade Center Kerry proposed cutting intelligence by $7.5 billion and missed over ¾ of the Senate Intelligence Committee public hearings. Just like clockwork.”

THE RECORD

John Kerry is an Experienced Leader in the Intelligence Field – John Kerry served on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence for 6 years and is the former Vice Chairman of the Committee. Kerry joined the Committee in early 1993 and served until early 2001. Among the areas closely investigated by John Kerry and the Intelligence Committee include global terrorism, world wide threats to U.S. national security, international espionage, weapons of mass destruction, drug trafficking, arms trafficking and nuclear security. John Kerry is also the former Chairman of the Subcommittee on Terrorism, Narcotics and International Operations and conducted several high profile Intelligence and International Security investigations. Additionally, Kerry is the author of the 1997 book ‘The New War’ which addressed the challenges of global terrorism and has served on the Foreign Relations Committee for more than eighteen years. One observer of Kerry wrote that, “Kerry plunged himself into the study of international crime an its implications for America.” In fact, the Kerry Commission uncovered the drug smuggling and arms trading in the Oliver North, Iran Contra scandal. “As chairman and then ranking Democrat on the Senate subcommittee on terrorism, narcotics, and international operations, John Kerry has been out front in pushing three presidential administrations to take seriously what is going on in the international underworld.” [Cleveland Plain Dealer, 11/6/96, 7/20/97; Boston Globe 6/28/97; The Guardian, 6/19/96]

All those twisted facts are really difficult to keep straight. I spoke the truth about your arrogance causing you to miss things. You need to tell the truth about Kampuchea Johnny. The agency never had you insert anyone, let alone give you a hat. Your stories twist and turn you LIAR. The truth will set you free Johnny. Every day more truths are revealed. The things you have missed are many, but Vietnam is the key that will break you.

Kerry thought that the Vice Chairmanship was lost in Cambodia, so he went to go find it on President Truman's orders, and while there he found 3 Purple Hearts behind a hooch that he burned down because "we all did it", and after he shot a teenager in the back while running away he rescued Rassman who was drowning in a pile of brown rice, a piece of which got stuck up Kerry's butt.

This was all filmed by a CIA Agent who's hat Kerry stoled and is now hung in a special place of Honor in the Communist War Museum honoring Kerry for assisting the Communist's win the war while our POW's were being tortured with the words that came out of John Kerry's mouth when he threw his medals over the White House fence while chanting "DEATH TO AMERICA" with Jane Fonda.

If you want to run with the big dogs, you need to do more than count the number of "pro" and "con" stories, and draw a conclusion on that basis. Anneneberg Factcheck contorts facts, and that is easy to prove by looking at readily available source documents.
