Last Thursday afternoon, HUNDREDS of happy, smiling, flag-waving patriotic Americans gathered outside a "private, secret" fundraiser at the Santa Monica airport to welcome President Bush back to Los Angeles, for his first visit to southern California since March 2004.Two very highly repected sources independently calculated that over FIFTEEN HUNDRED people overwhelmed the intersection of 31st Street and Ocean Park Boulevard in Santa Monica, just north of the hanger in which President Bush, Laura Bush and Governor Schwarzenegger appeared at a private fundraiser which had not been widely publicized until a few days before the event -- with the crowd outside roughly divided into half pro-Bush and half anti-Bush.
On a Thursday afternoon.
In Santa Monica.

We took on the "cancer from A.N.S.W.E.R." -- in the heart of the "People's Republic of Santa Monica" -- and we WON!More importantly, we showed Mr. Karl Rove that southern Californians have a hunger to actively support the reelection of President George W. Bush that will not be satisfied until the Bush-Cheney '04 folks schedule an official RALLY here - soon!
If we can get five or six hundred raving Bush supporters to show up outside a fundraiser on such short notice - on the chance that they might see the Presidential motorcade go by...
...just think what kind of crowd that we could attract if the folks knew that they could actually HEAR the President speak, and if they had a just little more ADVANCE notice of his visit!

It was a great day in the leftist stronghold of Santa Monica, CA as a contingent of true Americans, led by the FReepers, defended America's honor and came face to face with human scum.
The President and Mrs. Bush along with Arnold made a visit to Santa Monica this afternoon. Ah, yes, Santa Monica, CA. The city with rent control and regulations that would have made an Eastern Bloc Soviet stooge proud. The city with homeless peeing on the sidewalks. The city whose business policies are trying to run business out of town. In California, it is Berkeley South.
We surprised the scumbags today with a force of several hundred on their home turf...

Come November, we will see that California is in play. I predict that GW will spend a bunch of time there in October and make the Dems. fight real hard for it. I think a lot of the swing states are already swinging toward W, giving him time to make the Dims defend CA.

Well, there
WAS some opposition. :(
A reasonably large group with the "cancer from A.N.S.W.E.R." was eventually joined by a whole host of oddballs, misfits and wackos, including some of the the regular gang from "Code Pink."
Overall, we
spanked them...
...but we **were** unable to prevent Code Pink from hanging their goofy "pink slip for Bush" from that balcony across the street from OUR raly:

I *knew** that they would attempt to hang a banner like that on that balcony...
...so I had talked with the property manager for that office building - TWICE prior to the rally.
He
assured me that
NEITHER side would be allowed to hang ANY banners from his building.
But, as it happens, the OWNER of the building is apparently a flaming Bush-hater, and HE countermanded the order from his property manager. :)
That is one of the downsides to defending the President" behind enemy lines" - there are too many local enablers.

LOL!
I jsut checked RAT headquarters (aka indymedia), and they are in full-scale denial over there:
Bush attended a fundraiser last Thursday in Santa Monica. The event was held at the Santa Monica Airport in hanger #8 (Gunnell Aviation). A large crowd of people who oppose Bush and his policies came out to protest the visit. Also a large but smaller group of Bush supporters, bused in by party operatives, staged a counter protest.Photos: 1, 2, 3, 4, Video: 1, 2, 3

www.signonsandiego.com:
...Outside Santa Monica airport, hundreds of demonstrators jammed the sidewalk awaiting Bush's arrival. The crowd appeared to be fairly evenly split between supporters of Bush and Democratic nominee Sen. John Kerry. Before the Santa Monica fund-raiser, the president and first lady Laura Bush paid a call on Nancy Reagan at her home in Bel-Air. After a visit of about an hour, the three emerged from the house, and the president told reporters that he and his wife were "honored to pay our respects" to the widow of former President Reagan, who died in June.
"I'm so glad you came," Reagan said.
After visiting with Reagan, Bush and the first lady taped an hourlong interview with CNN's Larry King at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel...

A Glimpse of What Life Might be Like
Under a John Kerry Regime
August 14, 2004
by Ray Blumhorst
What would life be like under a John Kerry regime? Some aspects of policies under a Kerry administration appeared to be in clear display earlier this week in the behavior and words of his supporters on the streets of a little town in California called Santa Monica. Santa Monica is well known for its liberal politics and the predominately liberal lifestyles of its inhabitants. Thursday, August 12, 2004 President George W. Bush came to Santa Monica airport for a political fund raising event, and was greeted there by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and other Bush supporters. I did not personally see President Bush, although at one point, from my vantage point, I did see cars come to a stop on the inland bound side of Ocean Park Blvd. At the same time all the cars were absent from the ocean bound side of Ocean Park Blvd. A few minutes later an excited lady ran back to us saying, I saw him, and He had his window down and waved to me. It was our President she was referring to. That was pretty much the political highlight of the afternoon, but by no means was it the only political event worth noting. At 2:45 P.M. in the afternoon I arrived near the beginning of the re-elect President George W. Bush rally. There were already some people with signs on the street corner of Ocean Park and 31st so I drove a short block to pay parking and hurried back to join the throng of Bush supporters already there. There were some Kerry supporters across the street, but all in all things were polite and civil, that is, until some Kerry supporters decided to come to our location and start standing in front of our signs with their signs vilifying the president. The leader of the Bush supporters decided at that point to led us to the east, although I was not pleased that we had ceded the spot where traffic heading inland would first see the rally. As the afternoon wore on, the intolerant and abusive character of many of the Kerry supporters (and some people driving by) began to come out like exorcised demons out of the head of a possessed person. It was not an easy afternoon to be a Bush supporter, but I wouldnt have missed the opportunity for the world.
Over the course of the afternoon Bush supporters in Santa Monica were spit at, jostled, cursed at, gestured to obscenely, heckled, bullied, shouted at, lied to, and otherwise abused. I did not observe anything like that from the Bush supporters. It struck me at one point, that for a city that so prides itself on tolerance there really wasnt much just a tyranny expressed in irrational Bush hating contained in their own one sided views. There group certainly didnt appear to be any kind of a tent, big or otherwise, that was welcome or inclusive to the people they were prejudging and excluding with a furious anger and hatred. Signs and placards vilifying President Bush where prominent among the Kerry supporters everywhere and in my opinion expressed there biased perception of reality more than an objective and factual assessment of all factors making up current and historical events in our world.
At one point, a lady standing next to me said, You know, I dont see a single American flag on their side, and we have hundreds over here. Later, another lady bravely went to the other side and inquired about this. She came back and told us that one person had told her, We are ashamed of America, and its role in the world under George W. Bush.

A large crowd of people who oppose Bush and his policies came out to protest the visit. Also a large but smaller group of Bush supporters, bused in by party operatives, staged a counter protest.
How funny is that? They are the ones who bus people in and they claim we did it.
