It's hard to know what to make of this.

One the one hand, you have Kerry apparently caught lying about his first Purple Heart by implying in his journal that he and comrades hadn't been shot at yet nine days later, and were allowed to be cocky. This would appear to be a problem.

Not to worry.

Kerry now has the opportunity to join an elite group of Democrats. Some of them first surfaced in 1994, when they testified at the Whitewater hearings. There have been other similar events since, though I can't chronicle them at the moment.

Who is this elite group of Democrats? The DIARY LIARS, that's who--people who have written personal accounts of their thoughts and deeds in life who later testify that they didn't record the truth wheh they documented these thoughts and deeds.

Senator, all you have to say now is that "I wasn't correct when I wrote that in my journal" (i.e., "I lied to my diary") and you become a member of the elite DIARY LIARS.

No true Democrat can ever not vote for you again. No medial elitist can ever dislike you or question you.

Oh, and no other thinking American will ever believe you.
