Swift Boat Ad Working Joshua Micah Marshall reluctantly reports:
Perhaps the most astonishing demonstration of the Swift Boat ads effectiveness, however, is the proportion of potential Kerry voters whose opinions shifted after having watched the ad. Independents intending to vote for Kerry felt considerably less sure of their choice after watching the Swift Boat ad.
Before the ad, 41.94% of Independents intending to vote for Kerry felt that they would definitely vote for him; 37.10% felt most likely to vote for him; 20.97% were leaning towards him; and none were not sure.
These levels of commitment changed markedly after viewing the Swift Boat ad. Independents definitely voting for Kerry dropped to 29.03%. Those most likely to vote for him were relatively unchanged at 33.87%. Those leaning towards Kerry dropped to 9.68%. Finally, Independents not sure of their initial choice of Kerry increased substantially to 27.42%. This substantial change attests to the effectiveness of the Swift Boat ads attacks.

THE VITNAM VETS HAVE ONLY JUST BEGUN TO FIGHT.
FIRST - THE VIETNAM VETS AGAINST KERRY SERENADED HIM BEFORE HIS ACCEPTANCE SPEACH WITH
"KERRY LIED AND GOOD MEN DIED". I KNOW THOSE WORDS RANG IN HIS EARS AS HE MADE MIS WOODEN ACCEPTANCE SPEACH.
SECOND - THE SWIFT BOAT VETS BOOK GOT A LOT OF ATTENTION
THIRD - THE SWIFT BOAT VETS TV AD IS ACTUALLY WORKING.
THE FOURTH AND FINAL BLOW WILL COME ON SEPTEMBER TWELFTH IN WASHINGTON DC WHEN THOUSANDS OF VIETNAM VETS DEMONSTRATE AGAINST HIM AND SHOUT AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS -
KERRY LIED AND GOOD MEN DIED.
THIS WILL BE THE YEAR WHEN THE DEMOCRATS FINALLY REALIZE...

Drip.
Drip.
Drip.
I haven't seen the swiftboat ad yet. Is it running in Texas?
.............Before After
Definitely...41.94% 29.03%
Most Likely..37.10% 33.87%
Leaning......20.97% 09.68%
Not Sure......0.00% 27.42%
Swing states only.
The Swift Boaters budget is too small. They are running the ad in a few swing states. Texas would be the last place I would spend a dollar on this election running an ad.
Hmmmmm...might be time to donate another $100 to the Swifties.
I have seen it on Fox News. (NE TX)
Bump!
Go to their website (swiftvets.com) and view the ad.
Among those independents who said they were voting for Kerry, before and after seeing the SwiftVets ad:
.............Before After
Definitely...41.94% 29.03%
Most Likely..37.10% 33.87%
Leaning......20.97% 09.68%
Not Sure......0.00% 27.42%
Wow!
I figured that would be the case. I watch so little network TV that I could miss it even if it was aired here.
if I had the $$$ I'd happily donate at least $10k without batting an eyelash.
Really?
I heard right here at FR that it was backfiring on W and that Bush should tell them to shut up.
No limits on donations to 527s. George Soros has give $20 million.
That was reported on Fox News last night, on Hannity and Combs. Someone in FR must have been reporting what they heard. I heard that.
They would be wasting their money here in Bush country, it is needed in Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio etc.
Must have been a DU plant.
Anyone hear Rush talking to some lady yesterday who was basically mouthing the DNC talking points on the Swift Boat Vets? She may as well have been reading from a script because her comments were no different than what the Democrats are peddling.
There is no backfire on Bush.....who has nothing to do with this Ad.
The Ad is educating independents on the real Kerry!
Don't know if the ad had anything to do with the following, but I'd certaily like to think so. ;-)

Bush Consolidating Base in Core Republican StatesBush makes gains in Republican states, slight inroads in showdown states |
GALLUP NEWS SERVICE
PRINCETON, NJ -- George W. Bush has over the last two months consolidated his base vote in core Republican states and made slight inroads in swing states in the process of moving to a somewhat more competitive position against John Kerry.
This conclusion is based on a comparison of more than 3,500 interviews (including 3,141 registered voters), conducted in three CNN/USA Today/Gallup polls from mid-July through Aug. 11, with a group of more than 3,000 interviews (including 2,696 registered voters), conducted in three polls in June and early July.
Among all registered voters nationwide, the most recent three polls show Kerry with an average one-point lead over Bush -- 48% to 47%. Kerry's average lead among the three polls before that (in June and early July) was six points, 50% to 44%.
They were actually saying that it was turning their family and friends against Bush.
I was more upset that they wanted to squelch the SwiftVets free speech.
I've never heard a more obvious seminar caller.
I definitely know that. I was responding to Post #16 for No_Outcome_But_Victory.
He said he heard that the President isn't gaining any points for this ad. Personally, I don't believe it. And I know that our President has nothing to do with this ad. It's the Vets doing it independently on their own to get the truth out.
I believe that since this is a private group, you can donate up to $15,000,000.00 or so. I think George Soros probably knows the max.(/sarcasm)
Actually though I do believe you can donate what ever you want.
You can see the ad here:
www.swiftvets.com
It had to have really hurt Josh Marshall to have to write those words.
That makes me very very happy.
Roger that.....got it!
A tipoff that you're hearing one is the rebuttal:
"But he never served with Kerry", "He wasn't on his boat".
Told ya. I think the 527s are WAY overrated. It takes a phenomenal amount of money to spread lies, but very little money to tell the truth, as the Swifties show!
I saw Susan Estrich on FOX yesterday say that the Republicans should stop this ad because it is helping Kerry!!
Sure, Susan. How about that President Dukakis? Oh..ah.. erm NEVERMIND!
The country can't afford to elect another anti-military weenie like Clinton.
I think the swiftboat site has been hacked. I tried to go there & got an electric co. I did a search & got an anti Bush site that I had trouble getting out of. Try it.
I think it's only running in swing states. But I think you can see it at swiftvets.org
This works fine for me:
www.SwiftVets.com
OMG You're RIGHT!
It's been hacked! Took me to this Gawd Awful Anti Bush Site. HELP!!!!!!!!!!
For everything I have on The Franchurian Candidate, click the pix, goto "last," and work backwards:
That's a sure sign the ad is hurting Kerry.
If 30% of people who are committed change their minds after one ad, they were not strongly committed.
Maybe that was me...
When the RNC called and asked for a donation. I told them this time I would not because I was giving my money to the Swift Vets instead from now on.
The money is better served with the Swift Vets I think.
Committed to a candidate who tells the truth, but when he is exposed as a liar,...
Sorry, I get Hurricane Electrical Service. ????
No, it wasn't you.
You're a great American!
It looks like it is just you & me. LOL
Click one of the four choices at the bottom. I played it in both Real and Windows Media (Real loaded much faster, but Windows Media had a much bigger picture).
Don't miss it!!!!
You've got Kerry denouncing the latest MoveOn.org ad in hopes Bush reciprocates by denouncing the the Swift Boat Vets.
You've got the Carville and Lanie Davis and the rest of the Rats screaming and thrashing around like a little bRats.
Kerry has not directly attacked the Swift Boat Vets. He cannot effectively dispute the facts against him.
