Now, now, ease up on Norm a bit. He's got an 85 rating from the ACU for 2003. Ramstad, on the other hand, has a lifetime rating of 69 (only 56 in 2003 but 92 in 002).
But I agree with you on Coleman's unfortunate position on ANWR, and wrote him over it. But then, my Congressman is Oberstar (ACU lifetime rating of 10 with 29 years in Congress). Egad. We still have plenty of work to do in our state.
It is funny how the left turns a blind eye to theives and cheaters. But if you endorse a republican you are toast.
I drove all the way across Wisconsin this weekend from Lacrosse to Port Washington.
I'm not exaggerating when I say I saw 500 BUSH/CHENEY signs and 1 Kerry sign.
I live down in Scott county. Bush had a fighter escort as he climbed out of MSP. I saw from a distance that a plane was right on his tail- about 150 yards behind and high.
I wonder if something was up.
But if you read the local press.......
You see what I'm saying???
"But then, my Congressman is Oberstar."
I've called everyone I know.
We're on our knees, we are praying for you, non-stop.
"The local CBS station"
WDFL???
I was there too! It was a very enthusiastic crowd, and large!!!! I honsestly think that Minnesota may fall into the Bush column come November. It would be great to finally have my vote count in the Presidential election! (really, I don't see why the liberal Floridians feel so sorry for themselves). Consider the pitiful dilemma of voting GOP for President in a state which always goes for the Democrat. Hopefully that is at an end this year in the Land of Sky-Blue Waters.
I didn't catch WCCO (CBS affiliate) or KSTP (ABC's). I did catch some of Fox 9, and KARE (NBC).
Fox devoted a lot of time to the protestors, I turned in to late to see if the President's rally was the first story, but by 9:06 they were still talking about the protests, and Max Cleland.
KARE spun the story into a "for Mayor Kelly" versus "against Mayor Kelly". They showed few clips of the rally and instead focused on Kelly endorsing Bush, and Minneapolis' far left mayor Rybeck leading the protests outside calling for Kelly's head.
Oh and Norm is a fairly good Senator in my opinion, but I would vote Ramstad out in an instance, if I were in his district. We need a real Republican, not a RINO. Once at a polisci class, he was friends with the prof, and talked about his greatest accomplishments were coauthoring bills with Wellstone. Socially he's further left then Kerry.
I was very happy to see Ramstad wasn't there.
I was there as well!! It was awesome. I went with my mom and it was our first chance to see any president or go to any political rally. I loved our when the president came in we were cheering so much that after he walked away waving, Randy Kelly started pointing to his watch a couple of times. The president was blushing and looked a little overwhelmed by the response.
At one point during his speech, my mom and I stood up and cheered and waved our signs at something. He happened to be looking in our direction so I waved and he looked right at me and waved back. I was in the club level but we both knew he was looking and waving at me. I was sooo excited to see the president. I thought I might fall over the railing at some point! Based on what I saw today, I think Bush may pull off MN this time.
After the ANWR cock-up, I think Norman was taken aside...
How great for you! Did you take any photos you could post?
I live in Minnesota, too. I shook George W.'s hand back in '02 when he was at a Norm Coleman rally. I've also been doing some volunteer work with the campaign. I agree -- we really do have a chance to win this state for the GOP. It's so exciting to see the transformation that's happening here!! Again -- I'm glad you had such a great experience.
Is the Daily Compact Issue hurting Kerry up there? I know in Wisconsin it is.
I disagree. Norm Coleman's hardly a RINO. He doesn't vote in lock-step with George W., but I'm damn glad he's in there and not Mondale. Coleman's a good man with a strong future.
Oh, sure, anything's better than Wally. Norm is an east-coast lib who has told us that he has seen the light. He's been suspect ever since he crossed over.
I'm not convinced. Period.
But, then again, that's a major problem here in the good ol' US of A.
Too many folks take their locals word as truth and fact and step right in line.
Be ever vigilant.
Help me out. I'm not familiar with the DCI.
Thanks......
How cool! Thanks for sharing your experience with us. :-)
